Excellent experience with Method K9 My Dog did a full board and train session with Method K9 and well worth it .They exceeded my expectations .Stephanie helped me to understand why he was having issues. For me that was one of the biggest problem .I have grown up with dogs my whole life. But this dog he gave very little cues , at least not the stereotypical dog signs. They taught him respective space which for a dog of his size he really needed to learn.They socialized him extensively which is something that he very much needed ,lots of exposure. I think the most important thing that I learned is what his cues are and advocating for him. Advocating for an animal is not something that is traditionally taught in my experience .But it should be if you want/expect them to trust you . Things like not allowing strangers to pet them unless they desire it ,and even then only when it's an appropriate time and setting. For instance I don't want strangers touching me Lol makes sense when you think about it. Also I learned the power of making him earn his meal.If I can in the future I will continue with refresher classes. Thank you Stephanie and your whole team !!! read more

Review too long for Google - my attempt to shorten: Adopted Baldur (husky, shepherd mix from shelter/stray environment). Soon found out that he feared many things and how restrictive of life this would be. Took a very long time to gain his trust, even longer for my husband. Very fight or flight - if he got scared & could not get away, he would give that warning nip to bite the air = a bite risk = no guests over, espec. children. Very reactive to other dogs. I looked like the crazy lady in the neighborhood walking our dogs. At some point, a switch flipped in his head to be afraid of the car, leading him to try to eat the car to get out of it. Tried Trazodone & it seemed to heighten his awareness/anxiety. Found Method on IG & eventually purchased online reactivity courses. Walks got better & better as I took in the knowledge & implemented their techniques. Still needed more education to help him, to help us. We looked for trainers locally to us in the Reno, NV area and I was not satisfied w/anyone or their training methods. My husband basically gave the ultimatum that either I pick a trainer or he will. Phone consultation with Julius: extremely comforting & reassuring. He also helped us understand that the training would not only be for Baldur, but for us too, to have a life again. Social media was one of the main reasons why I chose to send Baldur to Board & Train w/Method K9. Love the videos to the owners and they are not afraid to publicly post videos of the dogs' progress. I was extremely worried about sending Baldur to a facility that would not be able to help him, and then have to pay thousands of dollars again to a different one afterwards if the first one didn't work out, and then what if they made him worse? I had no fears or worries with Method K9. If they told me to jump off a bridge to help Baldur, I probably would have. Fast forward 6 months to drop-off for Board & Train. Top 3 items on our wish list included to tolerate being in a crate in the car, reactivity towards other dogs/children, and off-leash recall (in & outdoors). We dropped him off at the beginning of Dec 2022 and picked him up at the end of Jan 2023. He is doing amazing at home. While he is not the social butterfly of a dog our other husky is, he has done a 360 in many other ways. He can keep his composure in in a down or place when scared, even in the car crate. He jumps in car with ease. My husband can work with him with ease. He is less dependent on our other dog for security. He views his crates safe places & seeks guidance from us. We had a couple of vet appointments recently. He did wonderful at the vet & goes unmedicated now. They allowed me to coach him during the appointments and it did not even seem to faze him when they gave him vaccines. They were very pleased with how well he kept his composure compared to other dogs they see that don't have behavioral issues. I cannot even explain how happy we are and how excited to have him back and in the state he's in. My husband and I constantly look at each other in awe of this dog and how far he has come, and how much easier life has gotten. I am so glad we invested the time and money with Method K9. I would do it over again in a heartbeat. I only wish we lived closer so we could do in person classes too as I enjoy them. We are forever grateful to the Method K9 team: To Stephanie, for having this insane desire to help these animals that many deem to be "unhelpable." To Hope, for being supportive and helpful, despite not being Baldur's favorite. To Karrie, for attending to my long emails & for being flexible with scheduling our appointments. Great experience! I was given the understanding tools to be a better trainer for my dog. He better understands what I want from him now, and we are improving by the day! Our teacher, Hope, was professional, knowledgeable and friendly to us and to everyone else. She included everyone equally and even gave advice for each participant's behavioral problems (ex: anxiety or reactivity) that was helpful to their owners and to the rest of the class if applicable. We have utilized Method K9 for a full board and train / one on one training and classes. These trainers are amazing and definitely are "dog whisperers". Their program is very effective and the amount of knowledge is top notch. Both my dog and I have learned so much .
