DANG, Chris T, I wanted to be the first to review Polebridge Hostel! This place rocks…read more This is a hostel in the true tradition. Its rustic, welcoming and peaceful; the scenery is wonderful. Its a great place to rest after exploring Glacier Natl. Park. I've stayed here a few times, twice by myself and once with my mom who loved it! Its worth the seemingly never-ending drive over the gravel washboard road to get there. Once on my drive there, I came upon a bear sitting in the middle of the road, and just drove slowly around it, hoping it didn't want to come sit on my little car. I stayed in the main hostel lodge, and as we first walked in, I remember being charmed by the fireplace. As twilight approached, it was recommended we go to the restroom - outside and a short walk - in the light. I'm not going to spoil it for you, but the outhouse is one of the best features of the place. Back in the lodge, there were lamps to be lit, and i had a bath in a huge claw-foot tub. We watched a short movie (generator?) and hit the hay. We sat in the kitchen in the morning and chatted with other hostelers. Cozy, comfy, and I felt like I was in a gold miner's lodge at the turn of the century. Be advised, this hostel is rustic but its one of my favorite hostels I've had the privilege of staying. If you can't handle an outhouse or bears, wolverines, swooping eagles, no electricity and log cabins, think twice and find a motel away from the stillness of the woods. But if you miss it, you've missed great fun and an experience you will always remember.

Their staff is super nice and friendly. Daily soups are vegan and wonderful. They have the best salad bar in Whitefish. They have yummy veggy wraps that come with normal tortillas or gluten free. I hear they make a great smoothie too, although I haven't had one there. If you are a vegan or vegetarian in Whitefish, this will be one of your best best for lunch in Whitefish. I do not know about staying at the Whitefish Hostel, I have only eaten there.

Unfortunately, the thing that didn't make us love C'mon Inn was the lack of COVID safety precautions. The staff was half-heartedly wearing masks (some did / some did not), and none of the other guests we encountered were wearing masks. We thoroughly sanitized our own room but it didn't feel that this was a top priority for this hotel as it wasn't communicated. Overall, it got the job done but it's too bad they aren't taking the pandemic more seriously for their guests' safety.

Then when I arrived to the room the lock was broke and would not open. Two trips back to the front desk. It still would not open. Then maintenance was called they fixed the lock. When we oped it the room was used for storage. When we made a third trip back to front desk they gave another room farther then the other room. My grandchilden were visiting to use the pool. The heater in the pool was broken. Walking to the room the carpet seam was coming up and I almost fell. No return call from anyone that should care.

The hotel itself is a 2 star experience but once you factor in staff services it's a 1 star. The remodel was half hearted and I'll bullet point all my problems with this one night stay in an Executive Room. - Parking fee is $12, website says $10 - Room descriptions inaccurate including bed types and number of TVs. - Odd dirty smell in room and bathroom - No clock, drapes, iron or board, coffee pot, safe, closet, dresser or any type of hanging racking for clothes in room. - Shower floor not level, resulting in water pooling to one corner where it stayed all night. This might explain odd, dirty smell. - Moth inside sheets of king bed, discovered at bed time after pulling sheets back. - No sheets on sofa bed or anywhere in room. Asked front desk for sheets when headed out for dinner, they offered to have housekeeping put sheets on but we declined and asked to get them upon my return. Housekeeping entered room anyway even with do not disturb on door. - TV didn't work nor did telephone when I tried calling down for tech support. - Walk downstairs to ask about TV, given instructions how to reset box but even that didn't work. Asked to move rooms but they were booked up. When I asked for discount, they offered $25 off a $350 rate. I asked for larger discount but was told manager must approve and they'd follow up with me but no one did and no discount provided at all. Later front desk clerk came to room, unplugged and plugged in new cords to get TV working. - Thin walls and windows, heard traffic and drunks leaving the bar across street late into the night and if it's a Wednesday morning you'll hear a dump truck at 6:20am. Through all this never even an apology from any staffer.
