if I could have given a 0 or - for service I would have.
Food was better than the service but as they say it's the experience that will have your customers coming back!
Came for lunch on a Sunday afternoon with my family.
wasn't overly busy at all 4-5 tables between inside and out. 3 waitresses working. seated outside on the patio which was ok.
This is where it all starts, waitress came and slammed down our glasses of water and said she'd be back. Didn't tell us her name ask how we were doing nothing so at this point I knew this would be good.... She then came and took our drink order. mine and my husbands was fine (beer and liquor ) our daughter ordered chocolate milk which was really milk and a splash of nesqwik but mostly milk.
she finally comes back to take our order. burgers and beef dip. I ask for no onions on my burger, easy right! Nope was told "sorry they can't take anything off due to a new cook who gets too flustered" ...... I'm sorry you can't take onions off for that reason. but if I had an allergy they can take the onions off lol. Wouldn't last 5 minutes working at McDonald's if you can't handle simply no onions! We then get our food and it was ok nothing to write home about, yes picked our onions off.
we were there for 45 mins plus and not once did the waitress come over, ask how things were. didn't ask if we would like drink refills I mean nothing. oh but she came and asked the table behind us if they'd like their bill WE HAD TO GO INSIDE and ASK FOR OURS! We go inside and our waitress along with the other two are standing at the order window, ours was EATING food at the order window from who's plate that was we weren't sure just hoping it wasn't a customers.
So by this point I'm not happy and honestly a little disgusted.
she then comes over gives us our $117 bill apparently no service is expensive these days. We pay.
I then ask if the manager is available, her response "oh maybe I'm not sure yes in the back" ok can you go get him please, she walks out the front door lol comes back and says no he's gone. now I'm far from genius status;however, last time I checked there's a difference between back in the kitchen and out the front. anyway didn't leave a tip and your staff can thank hailey the waitress for that. we always tip well when we eat out.
Got to our car realized I forgot our copy of the receipt. go back in to get it ask Hailey the managers name "his name is dave" she says honestly not even sure that's actually his name at this point as she had no clue where and if the manager was even there.
I asked if he was going to be the next day and I would just call him. was then told "he doesn't take phone calls". I was a little put off but ok fine.
she then says "well I'm the supervisor can I help you? was there something wrong?" at this point I was too checked out to get into it with her. Obviously if I'm clearly unhappy asking for only the manager that might be a clue something was wrong but hey who am I to judge someone else's perception of things. I just got our copy of the bill and left.
Never again will I eat there or recommend. Word of mouth travels fast in small communities like Wellington that thrives on its tourism. Chances are someone visiting will look up the reviews (clearly if you read some of the reviews we are not the only ones with service issues.) before eating at an establishment they have never been to.
Oh and I decided to send a Facebook message asking to speak to the owner/manager "Typically replies within a few hours" apparently, that was 2 days ago! The power of social media goes a long way.
Btw I handle customer experience for a global company, managing the Ontario region for North America in the retail sector. I honestly think my help and expertise could be used. Good luck. read more
