There are wonderful staff and volunteers at the shelter (always in need of more) that really care about the animals well being. Even if you're not in the market for a pet, or have a full house yourself, you can still give back to our wonderful local shelter. Old towels, blankets, comforters, dog beds? A shelter dog would love to make it their bed. This post was really just to commend our shelter staff and erg people to help out the local shelter!

It's a lot, around 500,000 dollars per year. A contractor friend then told us about Boys and Girls of America, so we started taking things there. We learen everything earned at the resale shop (on 377) stays in Hood County. Nice. Then our neighbor started volunteering at People Helping People (PHP), which we did not know about. We identified more with PHP and what they do. No one gets paid. It's all 100% volunteer, all the way to the top. We even saw a past Granbury mayor volunteering here! So now we take our items to PHP, and have even shopped here. There are two, indoor, resale shops. When we need something, we come here first. I found a great pair of matching cufflinks and tie bar here. Thúy got some nice knives to use in the garden and some cake pans. So now PHP is our go to place for donating, and shopping for hard to find items. I went to go deliver some packages and she had an attitude off the back. I was flabbergasted with this as the type of business it is, helping people in need. I walked up asking a question as I was told to do so by another employee and there went the attitude, I was so confused. I hope she does get held accountable for her actions as I did call and put a formal complaint. I really hope she's not treating the customers that are in need this way.

It's my fault for being a nurse on call, trying to leave work early because you only have 3:00 orientation in the middle of the week. But the thing that really upset me was the unfriendly turn away. People are volunteering for goodness sake. Now I understand why you have so many open slots that can't be filled. If someone is going to turn me away as a volunteer because I was 5 minutes late they really don't need my help.

It did have an original store (Ross) price on it, so I took it to the counter with my other things to see what they were selling it for. I said, "Good morning I was wondering what the price of this dress was?" The sales associate took the dress, fumbled around like she was bothered that I asked, pointed to the original store (Ross) price tag and said, "that's the price" very rudely. She went back to doing something else. I told her she did not have to be so rude. I left the dress on the counter and all the items in my basket. I can understand a lot of things. We all have those off days but, there was zero need for rudeness. I will not be back.

Reached out to them in desperation as I was living in my car and they reached out next morning asap eager to provide any assistance they could. I had been calling 20-30 homeless shelters and organizations a day trying to seek immediate shelter, and this ranch is the only place that stepped up to take me in . The owners are generous beyond words, just unconditional love and support every step of the way. Their cause is noble, their hearts are boundless, and they truly live by example. Could gush over them for days for all the help they've given me. Amazing housing accommodations- literally fully stocked cottage with the most tasteful decor and well thought out necessities already provided. If something wasn't there, they were eager to provide it asap. The farm is just adorable; all the animals are well taken care of and are such a pleasure to visit. It's quiet, comfortable, peaceful, and you can tell how much care was poured into putting these places together. Just all the little touches they've added. There's a full-sized oven/stove, refrigerator and freezer, microwave, washer and dryer provided, a place to shower, storage embedded for me to squirrel away belongings as needed, too lol. Roku TV was installed in my current unit today. Free and good Wi-Fi. Keurig for coffee. Even a water purifier! O_O Seriously what homeless shelter does that?? None. None I tell you. I've been there, lived in a shelter for 6 months, and this ranch blows every other place out of the water. If you are a woman veteran in need of housing assistance, please consider reaching out to Valor Ranch! If you are looking for a non-profit organization to support, I cannot recommend this lovely ranch enough!
