Super local bar, great people, service and vibe! The only thing that would make it better is a shuff table.

Finally...a good restaurant on River Street! We're in Manistee about a dozen times a year and I'm…read moreso burnt out on not having good places to eat. If you're looking for good Mexican, skip 'Taco Bout It' (which is very generic Americanized Mexican fare) and go here instead! This place just opened in the old River Street Station location and it's now my favorite place around town. Authentic Mexican food and drink in a very cool "Day of the Dead" style atmosphere. Awesome custom murals and decorations inside. It was totally empty when we walked in at 3pm on a Wednesday (to be expected) so we got 1 on 1 service at the bar. Food was super fresh and made to order. The freshly fried taquitos with super fresh veggies were awesome, and the tequila drinks were solid. I'll go here again the first chance I get. I feel like some restaurants in Manistee think they're fancy but are just overpriced and the food isn't very good (lookin' at you Golden Stag and Blue Fish). Then you have second tier food at Taco Bout It, Fricanos and North Channel. The food at these places almost seem like the quality of "theme park food" (generic and not very fresh). This place, IMO, is a big step forward. Fresh and authentic, probably family-owned (that was the vibe I got), with a great atmosphere (they were jammin' some modern Mexican music videos on the tv over the bar, which is WAY better than places that play ESPN or some political news channel). I predict that, if they can last until summer and have a good business-minded owner, they'll be jam packed all summer long. Or at least I hope so because I want it to be here, and be thriving, each time we visit Manistee!

Best restaurant in Manistee, hands down. A true taste of some of the vibrant and vital cultures…read morethat make northern Michigan so special. The food is authentic, unique, and absolutely delicious. The menu is large and has options for everyone! The prices are fair and the portions are large. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The deck overlooking the beautiful river has a picturesque view of historic Manistee, a nice breeze, and is conveniently right across the river from the live music pavilion!

Legit. Homemade everything. Don't sleep on this spot. Stopped on our way out from camping at Silver…read moreLake. Carnitas, pollo, y lengua gorditas were sooooooo delicious. Fresh salsa y limones with everything. We got some frozen mango y leche bars tambien. So refreshing! Lots of baked goods en la tienda. Can't wait to try the Besos de Fresas waiting for us in the fridge. No pics because we scarfed the deliciousness in record time.

Maybe its because its off season?? I don't know... their full menu from on yelp was NOT available -…read morethe prices for the limited menu were 30% higher on the chalk board as compared to the yelp menu - ouch. The ingredients had good taste but the quantity was lacking. 2 Tortas: one Chicharron and one carnitas; if each torta had 3 ounces of meat i'd be shocked especially as compared to the HUGE bun. Shredded iceberg, paper thin tomatoes, 2 avocado wedges, 2 jalapeno strips NO mayo and NO fries (like the yelp menu states). The Chicharron was 'breaded something' and not a true chicharron. The bread was about 70% of the torta and the other ingredients were not enough to keep the torta from tasting overly dry with all the bread. All ingredients were mostly fresh - thus the 2 out of 5. The place was clean and has potential, but shortcutting the quantity, the lack of fries and jacking the price is not acceptable. I won't be back.

Wow! From a couple of Detroiters, our expectations were a bit low, but I have to say this place was…read morereally good and arguably better than a lot of places in Mexicantown. Margaritas were really good, didn't taste mix or anything harsh like that. We had mini taquitos for an app and tacos for dinner. Tacos were very very good. The only thing was we wished they were corn tortillas instead of flour, and white onions instead of red, but the flavor otherwise was so delicious it made up for it. Can't wait to come back

My kids talked me into here instead of Little Mexico because Mi Mezcal does have an extensive vegetarian menu. I'm sorry I did that. First they are pricier than Little Mexico. By about $3 to $5 per plate. But the really sore spot was the food: it was all one note and that note was SALT! There was VERY little resemblance to south of the border or Tex-Méx dishes. O ordered the combo special: chili rellenos, beef burrito, beef taco corn shell, beef tostada, and beef enchilada plus rice and beans. The batter on the chili rellenos was less eggy and more thin fish batter. The chili itself had no flavor. The red sauce? Taco Bell's red sauce is spicier! The ground beef was heavily salted with no discernible cumin or chili powder. Even the beans and rice were bland! By the time the food got home ALL THE CORN TORTILLA items were VERY soggy and no crisp to them at all! I've ordered from other Mexican restaurants in Mt. Pleasant and Cadillac and never had this issue! I would recommend saving a couple of bucks and heading to Little Mexico's locations for a better and more authentic Mexican experience!
