Nortenos always hits! Delicious food, the green sauce is phenomenal. The chips and salsa are ALWAYS on point.

We stopped by this place for lunch after the blue bonnet trail. The service is good and they were really very generous about getting us a good vegetarian meal with limited vegetarian friendly items on the menu. Having said that the food lacked flavor and was bland, even the guacamole was flavorless. What I liked was the quesadilla and the tortillas were hot and fresh but I wish the food had more flavor and spice. I must mention, the service here is great! read more

The staff was polite, there wasn't a wait and the food arrived at out table quickly. I had a sampler plate with a flour ground beef taco, chicken flauta and a cheese enchilada with chili con Carne, refried beans and rice. The flauta was great, taco was large but less than average in flavor, cheese enchilada was okay the Carne sauce would have been the "star" of that, the beans were watered down and lacked flavor and the was clumpy but tasted good. My date had borracho beans that had cut up hot dogs in it! The tea was like drinking sewer water. The best part was the flauta, chips and salsa. I will pass next time I'm in town and try one of the many Mexican restaurants in the immediate area. read more

Food is great. Chicken very tender. Bean and rice were good. Im pickie. Salsa not tangy but chunky tomatoes and season very good. Chips are good. I always say you can tell of the Mexican restaurant is cheap by the taste of their chips and salsa.. Good food presentation. Food and price matched. Experience was clean environment and inviting. I stopped going to Don Jose's after they upgraded, I wanted to go check it out and we actually got seated but the guy got mad we asked for a certain table then no one ever took our order, they never even knew we had left . No, just not good tried it once and that was enough. It's crowded but our town is full of taco or Mexican restaurants that are simply bad with no redeeming qualities. The influx of California or New Mexico restaurants has ruined TEXMEX and you really have to look hard for it. This place like every restaurant in Ennis is just not good but due to the lack of good restaurants you take the better of the worst which is still bad. This restaurant isn't good and don't be fooled by the parking lot being full. You'll find tables of people snacking and drinking allot of alcohol but plates full of food are going into the trash. read more

HOLY SPICY SAUCE! Atmosphere was just what you would expect from a hole in the wall on a very small town with multiple Tex-Mex restaurants. We ordered the Green Burrito and the Combo plate with some sweet teas. Sweet tea was on point and definitely worthy of its sweetness! My green burrito was a spinach wrap filled with grilled chicken, very fresh avocado, and lettuce (I ditched the pico). I enjoyed the flavors in my mouth and the portion was large enough to eat half for lunch and save the rest for another meal. My fiancé got the combo plate as he wanted to try many different things. While he isn't too wordy about his food the VERY CLEAN plate tells me that he enjoyed it. The portion size to price ratio is GREAT! My green burrito was only $5.99 and the combo plate $7.99. Stopped in for lunch to try this place. Ordered something I have never heard of before, because that's what I do. Beef Milanesa Plate. It was delicious! Like super thin steak fingers, battered and fried, and served with a dipping "gravy" that was hot and tasty. Wrap them up in some corn tortillas for a next level experience. Came here because it had good reviews... worst mistake. our server was okay, but the food was so horrible. Chips and salsa were watered down, I got a "Mexican Water" not authentic at all, definitely was made from a packet and super watered down. Kids food is super dry, we got out food. Very over cooked. We needed to get out of the house. So I looked into places around Ennis for Togo, about an hour away from home, and we settled on this place. The menu had so many amazing options, and with breakfast served all day I knew my picky kiddo would be happy here too. We got an assortment of items, but I think my favorite are the gorditas. Decided to order Nortenos online. They use square for online purchases which is pretty interesting. The square program is pretty easy to order from the only thing about the Nortenos version is they didn't offer "ala carte" choices. Otherwise it is pretty efficient and straight forward. I ordered the nachos which is pretty good and a fair quantity. I liked the green sauce (a little spicy) and the red salsa tasted fresh. Plenty of ground beef and queso. I could pass on the lettuce. It is not their signature food but I like how they cut up avocado and spread it in the nachos. I've had their gorditas before and they are really good. My order was ready by the time I got to the restaurant. Very polite employees. read more

Spot on. A pleasant surprise, wish we had this spot closer. Admittedly I held out little hope for Mexican food in Texas that wasn't some Tex-Mex hybrid especially in a small town of Ennis and coming from California, we are spoiled on Mexican food like unrefrigerated fish on a hot day. Had passed the place a couple of times, along with the stoplight when I finally wandered in.. Initially I was a bit leery because there were no cars in the parking lot, so glad I took chance. Guess I just missed everyone. Again this place was spot on one of the best burritos I've had, Place seem to be clean, food was hot, service was great, in fact it was so good I had to go back a second time the next day and have the same thing again. Had a great lunch with my wife. The salsa is fresh with a wonderful taste and level of heat. I had the Chile relleno which was filled with a good amount of cheese, battered, and cooked perfectly. My wife had a sampler plate with soft taco, cheese enchilada, and chicken flauta that was excellent. Both with rice and very good retried beans. Service was also very good. Stopped by this place driving through and craving mexican food. Well, it was not good. When we first came in, my son had a snow cone out of a Chicken express cup and it was taken away bc "publicity". The person ended up placing it in a regular styrofoam cup but that spoke volumes of their customer service. The salsa was hardly authentic, watered down and sweet tasting. The torta, which I ordered with American cheese that was not provided, had a bad after taste. The breakfast meal came with buttered bread instead of tortillas. After a long day of senior pictures in Ennis, my mom and I decided to grab a bite to eat. We're not familiar with the Ennis area so Nortenos was more of a luck of the draw stop... And boy did we get lucky. On the outside, you would expect just another Mexican restaurant that throws together some half-decent Tex Mex. But be ready to be pleasantly surprised: the staff was polite and friendly, the inside was tidy/clean, the prices low, and the food was definitely the best I, or my mom, have ever had. It was GENUINE Mexican food and the beans/rice were delicious! We will definitely be back seeing how it is well worth the drive. Give Nortenos a try if you're in the area! read more

Just off 45 or 287. if you're coming up from Houston or headed south from DFW, then make this a pit stop. Came to Ennis to see the blue bonnets, then went to norteños for lunch; had some great food, great service. The staff were all polite and patient with our little ones. Wife & I are retired senior citizens. Ate there a couple times & it was average at best. Last time the owner waited on us. Wife ordered chili relano. Paid extra for beef filling. When taking order, owner asked wife if she wanted cheese on top. Wife responded motreallymaybejust a littl. When food arrived, wife said there was no beef inside. I told her we better advise owner/waiter so extra charge would not apply. He claimed there was beef inside. Neither of us could see any meat at all so we dropped it & ate. When ticket arrived, he charged $1.50 for non-existant meat & $1.25 for the cheese on top. Needless to say we won't be going back. read more
