The wife & I went Sunday at noon for a brunch. After 5 mins of waiting to be greeted, a young man apologetically told us "it'll a few minutes, unless you want to sit at the bar". There were approx 5 tables that hadn't been cleared yet. When we declined, he said "ok, just a few minutes". About 5 mins later he approached us and said "sorry, we are busy" at which point we should have left, but accepted his offer to sit at the bar. We ordered 2 drinks at which time the bartender stated that it would be a few minutes to make them (for a gin & tonic?). Ten minutes later, we received our drinks and ordered our meals. Thirty five minutes later my burger and the wife's eggs & tater tots arrived, at which time the bartender apologized saying that because I ordered the burger medium well it took longer! I came here with my best friend one Sunday afternoon and I know we will be back many many times! The Viking Burger is a must!! It's easily one of the best burgers I've ever had in NC. Sat downstairs last night (didn't even know about they had a downstairs) and it was awesome. Service is spot on, staff is attentive but not helicoptery. When you go definitely check out the food. Having lived in Denmark I am a huge fan of Scandinavian cuisine and these folks nail it! The frikadeller (grandma's recipe meatballs) and gravlaks smørrebrød (open face sandwich of in-house cured salmon with cucumber salad served on killer bread) are my every-timers. The fries that come with the gravlaks are top shelf; I'd put them up against anyone's in the Tri. I heard rumours of on sight brewing and am excited to try what the NBC team creates. read more

What an incredible spot! My husband and I had been meaning to check it out for a while, and we were not disappointed. Right away you can see how clean it is, and there is plenty of room to spread out with two stories, multiple patios, and a tent. We had the meatballs and a flight of beer (highly reccomend!) As well as the Salmon sandwich and Elk Sausage. Service was fast and efficiant but we were enjoying the atmosphere so much we weren't in any hurry, and had another beer before we left. This place was great! My boyfriend and I were in the area for an anniversary trip and I was pretty stoked to find a Norse themed brewery. The beer cheese tots are amazing, like everyone else has pointed out. The food in general was delicious and the beer was great. The fact that this business was born shortly before COVID and has thrived under the pressure of COVID is impressive. If they're doing this well during a pandemic, I can't wait to see how great they are when this is over. I'll definitely be back. read more

We stopped into Norse Brewing mid afternoon today and really enjoyed our lunch and flight of beers. Service was prompt and friendly. We especially enjoyed the Four Friends IPA and the stout. The RyePA was also good. And the food! My husband ordered the chili, which he loved, and the hot ham sandwich. Although I ordered the beet salad(mmm), I ate half of the ham sandwich because I couldn't help myself. SO GOOD! This place has a relaxed atmosphere and great food and beer offerings. Such a nice spot in downtown Wake Forest. We will be back! read more

What a fantastic addition to the Wake Forest downtown! Located in the former La Foresta building, the Norse Brewing Company has a great casual vibe, with a good selection of craft beers (soon to be joined by their own brews!). Upstairs is the bar and restaurant area with a bunch of long tables (Viking-style) and a full bar; downstairs is more of a sports bar feel, with TVs and mostly high-top tables. Excellent wait staff (even though it was quite busy on a Saturday night.) We just had beers, but after seeing the menu, we had to order the soft pretzels with "Lusty Monk" mustard (don't ask - it's deliciously zippy!) Can't wait to go back and have an authentic Danish smorrebrod (authentic open-faced sandwich). Also looking forward to summer for a seat on the patio. Skoal, y'all read more

I love this place. The vibes are great and I plan to keep going but I would recommend skipping the food. I ordered the "allfather" brunch burger which is 19 dollars and has onion straws, a fried egg, pork belly on a biscuit. I asked for an egg over medium and got a fried egg and that was fine because the burger is supposed to come with a fried egg so the chef probably just forgot the over medium part. What was less fine was it was only a fried egg and a patty. The chef somehow forgot the pork belly and the onions. When I pointed it out to my server he brought me a plate of dry onion straws from a can and some pork belly. It was fine and I will get brunch here again. Come here for drinks but go to first watch for brunch food. read more

First time trying this little gem in Wake Forest! They have only been open a couple of months so they are still working out some things but all in all - this place is a winner! Our favorite was the radish toast which was Super fresh and so full of flavor. I will get this every single time!! For reference, I posted a newer menu than what is posted on their website, they have much more to offer now and it is continuing to evolve. Can't wait to see what comes next!! Came here on Saturday for the fall market and stayed for lunch! We love the vibe at Norse, all the servers are awesome and we love that we can bring our dog. This is our 4th visit and we seriously love the food. I usually get a glass of wine and my fiancé tries beer from their list. This Saturday I had the pumpkin cider which was delicious. We had a half summer salad which was amazingggg and my fiancé is obsessed with the Norwegian blue salad which is a romaine wedge salad. Went here with my son and his GF. We had a good time there. Very chill vibe. Upstairs is family friendly. We sat downstairs at a high top table. Lots of TVs here with sporting events. Tables spaced 6 feet apart. We had "My Money's on 21" and "The Fifth Wheel" and enjoyed them both. Service was friendly and efficient. I like that there are different seating areas indoors and outdoors. The outdoor areas have heaters, but will have to say not enough to overcome 32 degree temp yesterday when we visited! Beautiful establishment. Always a good vibe when we go, even when it's busy! The food is unique, filling, and worth every penny. If you like Bloody Mary's, their Bloody Pepper is to die for(Bloody Mary's are brunch exclusive drinks). If you're more of a coffee person but still want a little spike I highly recommend a coffee and Kahlua with a little cream. Their Frikadeller is a MUST every time we come in for lunch/dinner hours and it's always a hard tie between their Gravlax and the classic Viking Burger, but I have to say my favorite time to come in is brunch on Sundays and sit on the upper back patio with my husband and enjoy the ambiance and anything from their delicious selection of breakfast/brunch meals. Staff are always very kind and we've never had an issue with waiting on service or dealing with any rudeness. I highly recommend checking them out! read more

We wanted to live it and I think it will come around but not a great first experience. Please, please turn down the lighting. It was like eating in a hospital. So very bright! Someone needs to get a dimmer going on. Put some art on the walls. Grey cement is industrial but not in a hip way when paired with the blazing lights.. Really felt like we were in a hospital cafeteria. Food was pretty good for pub fare. However, our appetizers came out with our dinners and we had no where to put it all on our tiny four top table. Also, the manager who brought our food told me it was our fault for ordering it all at the same time. Yes, she really did. Fact of the matter is that we ordered our appetizers 10 minutes before our food. And, what restaurant server doesn't know to bring salads before main course?? So we had the meatball appetizer, a flatbread, a salad and three burger plates all fighting for space. It was awkward. My beer was great! Place just isn't quite running at full speed yet. That's OK, but the guest taps are about what you would see at any other restaurant in the area. It's certainly not a curated beer list. The food: It's pretty bad. The tots and pork belly are undercooked. The pretzels were cold. The burgers were literally burnt to a crisp. The roast beef was lunch meat. I hate to be this harsh, but it was bad. My husband and I have been twice now and we really want to like this place. It has a nice atmosphere, looks cool inside and their menu seems good. However, both times we have been very disappointed with the service. The servers seem very young, are uninformed and aren't knowledgeable on the menu, including the beers they serve! It's a brewery, so the staff should at the very least know something about their beer selection. We had several questions regarding the menu items and our server didn't know the answers, which we can understand except he didn't seem very eager to go find out either.
