I spent a day at Norris Conference Centers back in January for a conference. This conference center is located in a great part of town right in the heart of the action in City Centre. The Moran Hotel is attached to the conference center in case you want to stay there while attending the conference. There's a parking structure that also connects to the conference center so you don't have to step outside. Efficiency at its finest. Everything ran smoothly during the conference and the event space is nice. It's not stunning by any means but the logistics are there and the location can't be beaten. You're right in the thick of things in Memorial City so restaurants, bars, and shops abound. Plus plenty of greenery to relax and kick back when the weather is nice. read more

We recently had a multi-day conference here and overall, the conference room and facilities were nice. Big plus - plenty of bathroom stalls, even in the Women's. It is very convenient to have the parking attached to the center, so very little confusion on that front. We had the center cater the lunches each day and the food was generally tasty, some days were better than others. The rooms are quite large, so this is a great option centrally located in Houston with plenty of parking, shopping, food, and hotels within easy walking distance. read more

Came here for a conference and it's nice to be next to the parking lot. Note that Sewell customers get free valet parking at the nearby valet booth which is steps from the Norris center entrance. Nice setup where there's a receptionist once you enter the room where she guided me where to go. Clean bathroom and catering staffs keep the coffee and tea full. I only wish there is herbal caffeine free type of tea. Breakfast and lunch items are good. read more

I don't travel this way often, since I usually try to avoid overly high traffic areas, but when one of your continuous education courses have shifted from its usual spots, you make do. The sponsors were highly pleased with the first time they held the event there, and are quite enthusiastic about holding the second and possibly future courses there. So, first time there, and on the intersection between The Beltway and I-10. Again, first time there, and even with a GPS the signs weren't overly clear about where to park. So after finally finding the building, I had to circle around a few times to find which parking garage I could park at, and which spots are not taken, and finally is it even going to be connected to the building I am supposed to be. So that took a good 15 - 20 minutes off my time and I made it into the classroom with just about 5 minutes before they start the class. Whew! The multi-floor facility is nice and much larger than the places where this sponsor used to host their classes, less cluttery-feely. Once entering the double doors there is a receptions desk / management office and a small business center. The rest of the floor is made up of different conference rooms and their supporting logistics buildings (restrooms, kitchens, food prep, janitorial, etc.). There is a sky way that would lead out to the hotel next door (name escapes me at the moment). The conference rooms are big enough so that it would appear to be able to hold more than just classes, but large banquets or parties, or perhaps even used as a wedding venue. Believe they have their own food prep so catering can be done in-house. The class went fine and restrooms are tidy and located in convenient locations. There was a little mishap during one of the breaks because the closest restroom was being cleaned, and I had to go to the hotel next door to use the restroom, but I did not have to exit out of the building though. Now when it comes time to leaving, which unfortunately is around 4PM - 4:30PM, it was pretty nightmarish to get out to merge onto the service road of Beltway 8 because cars are coming pretty quick and in large volumes. It also doesn't help I also had to get into the inner-most lane to make a U-Turn. Nice facility, parking garage can be a bit tricky to navigate, getting in and out during high traffic time isn't my favorite part. I'd probably like it more if it wasn't for these factors. But still something to consider if you are looking to host mid to large events. read more

It's a Conference Center. Not much to say about it. It's new, clean, modern. The AV stuff is up to modern standards. It's a good size for a 100 person conference, there are a couple of big rooms and some small ones. The catering is solidly mediocre. I found some things to be tastier than the normal venue. And the drinks are ridiculously overpriced. $6-per-thimble-of-godawful-swill overpriced. Two pluses (or maybe one, really). The big minus is that it is in CityCentre. Terribly signed, faux "village". I hate going here because it's impossible to find anything since they have no maps, and there are no street addresses. So, to get here, go in the first entrance off Katy Freeway East after beltway 8 (just after the Sheraton Four Points). Go to your first parking garage straight ahead, park toward the back (south). Walk south, through a door if you have to and it's right there. Otherwise, get used to going in circles because that's the way CityCentre is built. read more

We held our blogging conference, Blog Elevated, at Norris Conference Centers September 2013. The staff there is simply amazing. Phil, who did all of our set up and oversight of our conference was a life saver. I walked in at 6am to set up and yet he had everything done. We could not have pulled off the conference without him. The building is gorgeous and extremely clean. The wait staff is very polite and quiet. The AV system there is the easiest one I have ever used and any questions I had about it were quickly answered by Phil. The CityCentre location is ideal since our attendees could easily get out to explore the area on foot. When an unexpected downpour happened, the receptionist handed out umbrellas to as many of our attendees as she could. Norris Conference Center was an amazing venue and I highly recommend it. read more

Heather, Theresa, and ALL employees at Norris were amazing. They went out of their way in order to save my 50 person conference from having a venue with only a 12 hour notice. It was seamless and many attendees had no idea that there was a major last minute change. Heather personally reached out to me by phone at 7pm the night before to help for a 7am meeting! I had never met her before, but she is a true ANGEL to work with. Restrooms, food and services were all great. I can only imagine how nice my event would have been with more than a 12 hour notice. Norris Conference Center cater an event at my church last night. The food looked very good. Due to medical issues I was not able to eat hardly anything due to the late serving time, 715p. I asked for a to go tray, I was told they had none. I asked for some aluminum foil, supervisor said they could not provide. It is obvious that Norris Center would rather throw food away then allow for food to be taken home! read more

I have been to several events at this location, the most recent on 9/17/16. The facility is very nice and is well maintained. Good A/V services and pleasant accommodating staff. Parking can be a challenge with the theater next door but valet is available if you know where to enter. The food, however, is below mediocre. Everything from stale rolls to cheap cuts of beef to inedible desert kind of ruins the event for me. Please improve the food quality so you can earn 5 stars. read more

My beautiful bride and myself had our reception at the red oak ball room. Later in the night, our card box was stolen. The security guards were sitting on the couches and on their phones not doing their jobs. We are disappointed that on our special day, the establishment made no attempt to make things right after such a terrible act due to poor security and no surveillance. At the end of the day there is nothing that could've ruined our special day, but I would heed warning to anyone wanting to have their reception here. read more

We held our fourth Annual Cinderella Ball there in March and immediately signed a contract for next year's ball. It is the perfect location for our event. It is centrally located and the staff is wonderful. They go above and beyond to make the event a memorable event. Our 450 guests enjoyed it and have been talking about it since then. Our out-of-town guests loved the fact that it was located next to a hotel, restaurants and nice shops. I had my wedding reception here and would not recommend this venue. First off, NCC went through about 5 different event coordinators during my wedding planning (which was less than one year). The event coordinator who we signed our contract with seemed helpful and easy to work with and that is why we went with NCC. As our wedding came closer, the event coordinator at that time was very rude and had the audacity to tell me "we aren't even making any money on your event." She wanted to charge us for things that we were promised when we originally signed the contract. She even got into an argument with my wedding planner and decorator, which is very unprofessional. The staff is very unorganized and was not ready for my event. read more

We heard about the Norris Center from a family friend. We went to take a look and Terri(sales manager) was very nice and took the time to show us the entire facility. She also gave us the address for the garage directly next to the Norris Center which saved so much confusion. It's the biggest complaint on any of the reviews. No problem for us thanks to Terri. There's a number of rooms to choose from depending on what you want and how many guests will be attending. The Red Oak Ballroom is the nicest and also the room we went with. Fitting close to 300 people was no problem with room for a stage, 21x21 dance floor, cake table, DJ setup, 2 bartenders, and lounge furniture. We went with buffet styled food, which would have easily fit, but we setup in the hall next to the room. The seating chart and all of the details for the wedding were all put together with the help of Chris Thompson!!(Catering manager/coordinator) The guy is awesome really. He listened to every detail my wife wanted and made it happen. Time and time again went above and beyond to make the wedding exactly the way we wanted. Cost amount listed is for everything all together. We did have to sub out some of the stuff needed like food and sodas but most of the other stuff was covered by Red Oak. Also the cost doesn't include alcohol as we didn't have any provided. We would highly recommend Red Oak Ballroom at the Norris Center to anyone getting married! What an awful experience I had at the Norris Conference Center last weekend. The space was alright. Just like the last person said, it is a simple conference center, nothing special. I attended my husband's class reunion and we were both really looking forward to it. Trying to find were to park and where to go was a true challenge. When we finally found our way to the center we witnessed one of their managers yelling at one of the waiters right in front of us. Shouldn't they take their issue behind the scene? It really disturbed us with the type of language that was used. What a way to start the evening. We found it extremely unprofessional. Although it was great to reconnect with some many people we had to leave a early to get something to eat because the food was so AWFUL. We asked to see the chef but were told there was no chef in the kitchen and that they were using a new caterer. Guess they should keep looking. The whole night was a great disappointment. How sad to ruin such a special day. read more

Have used this place several years in a row and can tell you that it seems to keep getting worse each year, although promise after promise was that this stuff would get remedied. First of all, they are terrible at communicating. So many times I had to make changes to room setup and needs because the order I received was not what I had communicated. There was one person, Todd, that was nice. Everyone else was so hard to deal with. The lighting in there is horrendous! We were told the last couple of years that they would change out the 1/2 inch metal blinds for shades, well they did on some windows but not most. Most of the service staff do not speak English, so communicating that we needed more coffee or cups was difficult. The AV is HORRIBLE! Mics crackle and go in and out and there is no one eager to fix it. It's their equipment but you have to fix it - right in the middle of the meeting when it's going out. The location is really hard to get in and out of and the parking is even worse. Honestly, I would give it a zero if I could! read more
