Our 99 year old aunt (never married, no kids, only a few nephews) has been living on her own until a fall last month. After a few days in the hospital she was brought to Norridge Gardens. Our family has been pleasantly pleased with every aspect of her stay! From the admission process with Rebecca, to the Social Worker Janet, PT Allen, Speech Therapist Kasha (auntie has a swallowing issue), dietician Elim, Gloria and all the nurses and helpers on the 2nd floor led by Ruby, a very caring head nurse to the front reception desk staff, everyone has been extremely helpful and treat our aunt with the utmost respect & dignity in these difficult times. Sure, the place could use a lil touch up of paint, on some nicks on the walls, BUT the entire place is Very Clean!!! The proverbial adage, of "You could eat off the floors!" holds true at Norridge Gardens! The nurses communicate frequently with me as I've been her caretaker these last ten years. They are not afraid to call me at any time with any concerns. In conclusion, we feel extremely fortunate to find a lovely place for our dear aunt. I entered Norridge Gardens on December 3, 2024 for rehab following foot surgery. From the outset, I was impressed by the warm, nurturing attitude of the staff and management, which I greatly appreciated. The dedication of the nurses, especially April, Luzel, Russel and others whose names I can't recall made a difficult experience much easier. And special kudos to Jordy, the transportation manager for going above and beyond the call as well as Elizabeth who arranged an Uber for me on discharge day. The amount if interaction with the elderly is sparse . The grooming of the patients is limited. The bathing and changing of clothes is not weekly or bi weekly . They sit in urine and poo for hours in their rooms and the elevators have urine stench. The grooming in extremely poor for for the patients that have memory loss and need help grooming . The " garden" outside on top floor is cement walls with two fake flowers outside . Even though it's there it's locked an no one can enjoy sitting outside. The ground floor garden is only taken care of twice a year beginning of summer and end of summer . The rest of the time it's ALL weeds and seats are never cleaned. Every time we wanted to sit in the " garden" this past summer it was all overgrown weeds . For the permanent residence their floor needs new wallpaper it's literally peeling. The facility has a super small tv in the common room, the residents can hardly watch unless they sit very close . Those people have nothing remotely comforting to stare at all day. The facility they use for permanent residence should be better equipped and look pleasant . It looks like from 1990 days . I pray who ever is in charge and the owner of the Gardens uses their God given purpose to take care of the elderly more seriously. I can only assume that they take the money they make and pocket it . Because I don't see anything used for the facilities. The care given by the nurses could be better. Some seem burnt out although they're all kind to the elderly except for one or two that don't want to be bothered. read more

I had to be admitted to Norridge Gardens after stays at two hospitals, for therapy. The staff were always pleasant, supportive, friendly and very patient with me. From the nursing staff to my fantastic therapists. The only drawback was the food. I pray I will not have to go back to another Nursing Home/Rehab facility- if I do Norridge would be high on my list. Well I'm great full that my review has gotten 504 views in a week If I helped 1 person save the loved one the experience I had & I'm still having with Norridge Gardens 7001 Cullom Norridge Ill so be it When you leave Norridge Gardens you got medications to have filled The person in charge of overseeing this part is named Rosa Marie The girl answering phone calls told me she never met her Rosa Marie doesn't even work there Sounds illegal to me but I know the Director as well as Asst Director are very aware as well be on Ghost payroll too because they never reply to a email or return a call Here's a question for NGs if a client is being released but has no primary doctor yet because their original primary quit being told that to NGs You get a 30 prescription til you see your doctor to get a refill Remember I need to find a primary doctor again First appts available is Aug 27 thru Aug 29 I'm not going to have medication which are 12 orders I call NGs to explain my situation basically was told I'm not their client go see my primary Girl answering the phone which I'm sure has no clue of my position even after at least 10 trys to get my medicines refilled by Ghost Rosa Marie sounded like she was happy to give me bad news should be fired for her comment never once saying let me ask around Also never returns calls Trust me people I only want to clearly show you this place including Top heads like the Director Asst Director should be Fired We trust everything they sell your family but once 3pm hits Monday thru Friday Weekends Your loved ones WHO? Where do I start? If you ever put your family member in here you need to go to hell this is one of the worst facilities I've ever worked in in my 25 years of working. I almost cried at how staff members treat people. I even show up early to work to see what's really going on on the other shift. Let me tell you y'all need to go get your family members. The food is disgusting, the care is oh my God is the worst they never have any letting the nurses go to sleep in their cars for hours. It's just it's wrong. The residents need to start calling the state because that's the only way they're going to stay alive and get help. read more

By far the worst Nursing Home...my mom has had her belongings stolen from by staff and management has done nothing to resolve it. I have been trying to speak to someone in management t about picking of so E of my moms things since Monday April 20, 2020. My mom has been admitted to the hospital for COVID 19 on 4/17/20... when I went to the home to pick up the belongings I was told her room was not cleaned which surprised since it was 3 days since she was admitted to the hospital....so, if your looking for a nursing home for your loved one...J would NOT suggest Norridge Gardens in Norridge, IL. read more

I am proud to give a review on this nursing facility. My husband was admitted a year and a half ago. I was skeptical during the onset of our journey finding a facility because of the horror stories I heard about nursing home facilities. The truth of the matter is, I don't believe anyone will find a Marriott/Hilton quality-like facility. Of course, there's no place good enough for your loved ones. However, Norridge Gardens was the perfect fit for us. Although admitting my husband into a nursing home was the most challenging decision I've ever made; Norridge Gardens made the process easy and seamless. The care and concern they showed us was comforting. It wasn't easy at first because we had to establish a level of trust. The staff are friendly and care about the residents. They understand the patients' health history and proceed accordingly with care. In my opinion, their level of commitment, dedication and loyalty are unmatched. For everything that could have been done better, there are plenty of things that went well. Choose your battles because not all battles are worth fighting. At the end of the day, I believe the family and the staff both want what's in the best interest of the resident/patient. I've watched the staff as they care for the residents with love, patience and kindness even when kindness was not reciprocated to them. Their level of professionalism was always at the forefront. They are consistent with the level of care they give each resident. I know it is overwhelming at times but they always show up for the residents by working double shifts, coming in on their days off and just being present doing whatever it takes. There's no job too great or too small for them. They work as a team to get things done. The front desk staff, administrators, social services, nurses, CNAs, aides, janitorial staff, electricians and culinary teams are very polite. They always speak and have a smile on their face. They all work very hard to ensure the success of Norridge Gardens. The food is amazing. Its always severed hot and there are a variety of delicious healthy options. The facility is always clean, neat and in order. The janitorial team do a great job. The electricians are always on point when something needs to be fixed or is out of order. Their turn-around time is always timely. I love how the staff aides have activities and treats on a regular basis for the residents. They continue to keep them involved and stimulate their minds with fun activities. I get excited just watching the faces of the residents light up with they are shown love and care. Arrived at Norridge Gardens couple days ago, The staff has been friendly, The food has been fresh and tasty. The floors are clean and has been positive experience since arriving. Here for PT as I was hospitalized on off since mid December and one of my doctors at hospital has patients of his here and now I am awaiting my Humana insurance for decision for physical therapy. Had pneumonia and my breathing was very poor and was discharged from hospital and transferred to Norridge Gardens for physical therapy. This facility is near the HIP shopping mall looking forward to the staff working with me to get back home. All the staff has been professional and caring. The facility is within 8 miles of my residence. Rather peaceful inside facility and they offer PT for various range of patients needs. They have evaluated me and are friendly and my Doctor recommended the facility to helpe with my recovery. The cleanliness of this SNF is seriously lacking. The first floor and lobby are Ok, but the upper floors neither look or smell clean. From what I saw, the nursing and CNA staff could use some remediation on proper hand washing and CLEAN gloves use to reduce cross-contamination between patients. My husband spent less than two weeks here, and haad to be readmitted to the hospital for an illness not connected to his previous hospitalization. He will not be returning... EVER. read more

Terrible place. My dad deteriorated so quickly after being there for a year! He was always dirty, poop on his wheelchair, sitting in wet pants from pee during a family visit and NEVER in the his own clothing that I brought him. They list his shoes, slippers and all pictures in frames that we brought. In addition I know had to close 3 credit cards that were ONLY used at Norridge Gardens for payments and all had fraudulent charges. So disappointing and quite disgusting during a time that we are mourning our fathers death. Would not recommend to anyone. read more

Keep looking....there are other options. Dismal spot. Over worked nurses and aids. Some are caring some are not. Same with the physical therapists and the rest of the staff. Difficult to accomplish simple tasks such as unlocking door to the garden as there is a lot of "I'm not in charge of that". Waited 15 minutes to wheel my Mom out while others in wheelchairs waited as well. I was told they would not be unlocking the door because it was too hot. It was 70 and gorgeous. Doctors are sparse and uncommunicative. Information gets lost. Residents are left sitting while looking at the nurses station for entertainment. Occasionally someone bounces a balloon around. Water poured down the wall of my Mom's room in a rainstorm. Response from maintenance "that happen's when it rains...comes in from AC". Zero optimism....go to Norridge Gardens Gardens and loose the will to live. read more

This is a wonderful place. My father has been through at least 4 other rehab homes in the last 4 years due to his condition. When he arrived at Norridge Gardens I immediately had peace in my heart. The nurses are just wonderful and so caring. They treated my father like their own family. Everytime I came by to see him he was clean and or he was being helped every feeding. It was difficult saying goodby to them when my dad came home but if he ever needs to go back to a facility you can believe I will reach out to them first. Horrible,horrible place. I work in health care and before my Grandma was admitted I requested bed alarm and floor alarm as she was a high fall risk. Those requirements were not met,she had a fall within of couple hours of getting admitted. Noone called 911 until family arrived and found her on the floor. Rude staff as well. Reported the accident to IDPH. read more

Do NOT bring your family member to this place! They lied about how many cases of Covid they had. They did not inform the residents sons or daughters that their mothers or fathers had Corona Virus. They had over 40 deaths and over 100 Cases. I repeat, Families were NOT notified. They sent out a letter to families which stated they had 4 cases. Which was completely false. That letter was a complete lie to cover up what was really going on. They were not notifying family members that their Mother, Father, Sister, Brother etc had Corona. Which is absolutely HORRIBLE!!! They also told outsiders "they only had 4 cases due to residents they took in from another facility but was no longer in the facility." Which is FALSE, especially because they were not excepting visitors or new residents at that time when Covid first hit. So how does that make any sense???? Meanwhile they had 100 cases that were growing and could possibly be more now. Employees were asked to lie to family members which is also terrible! Also They did not inform the staff of how many cases they had. Which led to one of the Nurses to catch Corona and unfortunately, she passed away. God bless her family. Trust me Heros don't work here. Liars work here. Administrator Sandra is very rude and unprofessional. She treats her employees and residents poorly! Half of the time she doesn't know what the heck she's doing. When you speak to her, it's like she's mentally somewhere else. It boggles my mind how she is the administrator of the entire facility. They definitely need a new Administrator. If it was my mother or father, I would take them out of here immediately. read more
