Having her return home was no longer an option; which led me to quickly get to up to speed on senior living options,mostly on my own. I found her a place & moved her in all before her release. While I ensured her safety, I second guessed my decisions as she vocally struggled to adjust; it was a lot of change particularly for someone who rarely left her home. Almost 6 months in, a different set of doubts & worries took over. Did I make the right call, could she live somewhere more affordable, would she outlive her money, etc. I don't even recall what search term led me to Senior Living Experts, but I'm grateful. Rebecca listened to my story and made me feel less alone. The staff would bring in coffee, food, snacks for us daily, the nurses and the CNA's treated us as if it were part of their family. The place is clean, it gave us a very home like atmosphere. I can't tell you enough the hard work and compassion all of the staff displayed during our two week stay, I want to thank two special nurses who really stood out to us for the genuine love they displayed to my mother and our family. My mother had lots of visitors, her room was always busy, I thought they would've kicked us out with ten orore at a time. For four weeks prior to his returning home I spent countless hours calling, interviewing, and screening home health care agencies and workers. To say the least it was exhausting and disappointing. Many agencies made hopeful promises but failed miserably on the interviews. Thankfully, I happened upon Margalit Tocher and her agency Home Care Assistance of Chicago. I am very glad that I did. Margalit spent more than a couple of hours on the phone and in person answering all of my family's questions and concerns. She brought her suggested care giver for my father to the hospital for an interview. The interview went well. Yet, when my father returned home it was determined that he needed not just care but 24 hour help. These were going to be his last days. The situation was overwhelming. Margalit immediately assembled a team of two care givers. The two caregivers sent, Renata and Alicja, were like a miracle to me and my family. They cared for my father in a way that one could only hope for. They were kind, gentle, efficient, knowledgeable, and respectful. I cannot express enough what it meant to have this caliber of care. It meant that my family could focus on spending the last days with my father without having to worry about his care and comfort. They made a very difficult situation into one that was as peaceful as it could be. I, and my family, will never forget how Home Care Assistance of Chicago and Margalit Tocher for going above and beyond my family's expectations. Kasha stated she was in the room prior to my arrival so as I was making a complaint about the type of care that was received, Kasha immediately got defensive and started arguing with me. Do not recommend having this woman care for my loved one. Lucas the manager was next to us while the bickering was going on and not once did he try to deescalate the situation or ask Kasha to stop being defensive. Lucas is well known to the family so I do hope he files the complaint I attempted to make. Beware of the not so good care your loved ones may receive here

(She was a hospice patient.) But they could easily kill people with the quality of care they don't have. The staff seems really new - at least two people we came across one day while with my grandmother were brand new. I know that happens, but it seemed like everyone was a new employee and no one knew anything. The majority of the workers also seemed kind of dopey. It was frustrating. My grandmother suffered because no one was on top of her morphine doses. We had to get the hospice care people out to get them into action. For the love of all that is holy - please, if you love your family members, take the time to find a better nursing home for them! This place stank, was sad and depressing, and the staff seemed slow and clueless. The admissions fellow was a jerk and we had to fight for my grandmother to die with dignity. Don't patronize this place, please!

If you believe that patients and nurses should be treated kindly do not support this company.

Most importantly, they are both extremely kind to our mom and because of that, she looks forward to seeing them. They assist her with her personal needs, heat up meals for her, encourage her to get up and walk around the house with their assistance so she doesn't sit for too long and finally, they get her ready for bed and put her to bed for the night. We feel very fortunate to have such caring and highly qualified caregivers. When we initially reached out to Compassion Home Care, Matthew, the owner, called me back the same day I called them. He gave me Laura's name who would work with my sisters and me to come up with the best caregivers for my mom's needs. Laura is extremely professional and her main goal was to learn what we were looking for and supply the best people. She has great insight from her experience in home health care over the years. We are very pleased with the women she decided were the best for our mom. It is very comforting knowing that your loved ones are taken care of when you aren't with them. They put the other agency to shame with the amount of work they did with and for mom in the short time they were there - they never slowed down! I can highly recommend Compassion Home Care of Illinois for anyone needing live-in care. We will definitely reach out to them again if we need more assistance.
