Marathon miracle worker!…read more I worked with Omer for the first time before the 2015 NYC marathon. I'm including a photo of a review I wrote after that (briefly, I was 90% positive I wouldn't be able to run it because my knee pain but after seeing Omer, I finished and felt awesome!) Fast forward to 2019, I was signed up for the Chicago marathon and having major muscle issues during training. I had already seen a different PT but it hadn't helped and I reached out to Omer about a month out from the race. At this point I could only run 4 miles straight without stopping. Long story short, after just a few appointments with Omer, I was able to run 20 miles straight (!!) and then later on finished the marathon (which I had been pretty set on deferring.) Other than just performing miracles, the thing that really is amazing about Omer is that he is so thoughtful and thorough about finding the problem and then finding the best, most effective ways to help. (Something I felt was lacking when I had seen other physical therapists.) Omer is one of the nicest, most welcoming people I've met in the health care field. He is easy to talk to, truly takes an interest in his patients and their lives, and is invested in helping them reach whatever PT goals they have. Eleni developed a plan that was completely customized to my needs. From gentle stretching, to dry needling, to gradually introducing strength training, I saw myself making real progress week after week thanks to her expertise and guidance. When I first walked in to the studio, reaching for my phone was uncomfortable. By the end of the physical therapy program, I had recovered a full range of motion and was doing pushups. When summer rolled around, I signed up for an intensive three day mountain biking clinic and was able to push myself much further than I had expected. I was absolutely thrilled with the progress I had made working with Eleni. Because of the great experience, I continued working with Eleni as a personal trainer after I completed PT, to focus on strength, flexibility, and stability. Scheduling is reasonably quick for new patients. I saw Matt and he methodically and holistically worked with me to reduce my hip pain. He helped me change my posture, adjust my sleeping position and do exercises to strengthen my hips and gluts. It was a process, but I steadily got better. I particularly appreciate how he did research to identify new ways of treating me, truly acting with ownership. I was given a comprehensive home routine that I followed. I did not ever think I would be relieved of the neck pain and I am glad that I do not have it often. I would not be honest if I said I was completely pain free. I sometimes get flare ups and the vast majority of the time the home exercises help relieve the pain. Imelda is a McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy clinician. I am grateful for her proficiency in this method because it definitely helps my spine conditions. I recently started physical therapy again. The orthopedic specialist I see told me to work with Imelda again for my spine, lower back pain and nerve pain. PT is helping me quite a bit. This on top of $1300 for Northwestern's fee for the MRI. Sure, BCBS-IL whittled that down to a fraction and then paid it all, but wow... So why is the office staff here so silly? I mean, I enter the office and go up to the desk to check in for my appointment (there's no window). The girl--half my age--talks loudly: "MR. ROBERT S--. YOU'RE HERE FOR DR. SHEPARD? [yes]. IS THIS YOUR FIRST VISIT. [no] NOW, ARE YOU STILL ON --- DRIVE? [no] I NEED FOR YOU TO FILL THIS CARD OUT, OK, MR. S--. [sure] I NEED YOUR INSURANCE CARD AND ID, DEAR." The waiting room is full of patients. Privacy would be nice. "Dear"? I am twice your age, which means you should still be in college. Only women over 60 years old call me "dear." And only hard of hearing people talk as loudly in an office full of patients as you do, dear.

Upon my first appointment with Dr. Hidaka, I was immediately impressed by his "care factor." I am a busy professional in the service industry, so naturally I have high expectations from professionals I choose. I say can with certainty that Dr. Hidaka's approach is unlike any other physician I've encountered. I feel as if he's an old friend who just happens to be a respected and accomplished physician. His care extends beyond "office hours." He frequently checks in with me on past issues, treatment progress, etc. Also, a much-appreciated bonus is that Dr. Hidaka is quick to respond and help even when I'm unable for an office-visits (travel, busy season, etc.). He is really setting the tone for modern health care the way it should be in our busy society.
