Nordsee is not bad if you're looking for a quick on the go lunch. My boyfriend and I had a train to catch but we were also hungry, so we decided to make a stop here. We each got different fish sandwiches. The sandwiches are cold - not warm, not even room temperature, just straight up chilled. Aside from that, it tasted pretty good, but it just would have been nice if they were able to toast it up. Nordsee is pretty much a 'what you see, if what you get' type of place. Don't expect much more than convenience and something to hold your hunger over.

I used to think this place was just a takeaway stand for fish and chips, but when I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised to see a whole array of seafood dishes--ranging from battered fish and chips to salmon fillet with roasted potatoes. I've eaten here twice and gotten their seafood salad both times, because I'm a sucker for tostada shells. The deep-fried shell probably negates any health benefits from the fresh veggies, but it just tastes oh-so-good. This restaurant is conveniently located at Zurich Hauptbahnhof right after you walk in from Bahnhofstrasse. And they're open on Sundays and also accept Reka Card as payment, so that's nice.

All seafood quick restaurant inside central station. Left side is heavy meals and cheaper samdwiches on the right. $4 bottled water.

We happened upon it just by looking up restaurants close to our hotel and it wound up being our favorite place we ate in our whole 10 days in Switzerland! The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming. When you walk up, there are tables and chairs throughout the walkway and then an entire open area of tables off of the outside bar for a fun hangout. The building appears to be an old house turned restaurant and is so beautiful on the outside and so warm and inviting on the inside. The menu had accommodations for everyone - which is so nice as I am a lactose intolerant pescatarian! I got the beetroot and black bean burger both nights I was there and it was to die for!! I ate the entire thing both nights and just wanted more (it was a big burger though)!! I also had a watermelon spritz which was so refreshing! You can tell the owners/workers get to know their regulars as I saw them stopping by tables and chatting - which was just so fun to see! If you're in Zurich, I highly recommend popping by! My only regret was that I never saved room for the brownie dessert!

The buffalo wings were tasty and quite spicy, so if you don't enjoy a higher spice level... this wouldn't be for you. Unfortunately we got into Xerox so late they were no longer serving food but no matter there was a football game on TV and the locals of course were going berserk for soccer game I don't really understand much for but it was totally awesome to be part of that energy. Of course being Switzerland and Zurich it was pretty expensive almost $40 American for three drinks. When you walk in you see yourself providing there is something available and then you have to order your food and drink from the bar they will deliver it back to your table. They also allow to go drinks and are more than happy. I wish I had more time in Switzerland I really wanted to try their fish and chips

The fish was fresh and crispy served with a basket of fries, tartar sauce and cole slaw. We ordered and paid at the bar and were served at the table. The place has a British pub vibe and is a great spot if you're looking for cozy bar. It's also a little further from the busy old town scene if you want a break from the heavy foot traffic.

James Joyce boasts having the "best" burger in town (it's not) and our local friend recommended the place more for drinks, but we chose this anyway since its within walking distance from Widder bar where we came from. The menu reads like a dependable Irish pub fare, but with Zurich prices. GAH! I feel destitute in Zurich. Prices of 25CHF and up for an entree is typical. Fish n chips were deliciously crispy; while the burger has decent moist MMMeat. Alas, the cheese was dried out and burnt on the edges. (I mean, how does one manage to burn cheese?!) Sit outside if the weather permits, because the setting is really inviting with tea light candles and fresh flowers on the table. A glass of Lillet Blanc and a Guiness on tap are excellent end of the night drinks. The friendly service warrants the 4th star, but you should go somewhere else for the best burger in town.

The hotel had been slated for demolition and the bank that was building a place to entertain its out of town clients bought the wood paneling and decorations and shipped it all over to Zurich--crazy! I read about this place in my guide book and it was also recommended by my Zurich resident friend so I had to check it out. From the outside you'd never be able to tell what the interior holds; it has a quite a modern-looking patio and is on a well-heeled side street off the main shipping drag, Bonhofstrasse. It looks like it could be any other upscale bar until you walk inside: lots of dark gleaming yet well-worn wood, intricate tile work, and period paintings. You can take it all in as you sip the beverage of your choice. We weren't hungry enough to sample their food, but from what I could see on the other tables it looked pretty damn good. The bartender was very nice and friendly and the whole place just felt very comfortable. Well worth a visit.

BRAUEREI. You got my attention!…read more We landed in Zurich for an overnight layover, and set out exploring the concrete jungle that evening. We were looking for a place that was vegan/restriction-friendly, and originally decided on the restaurant right by Steinfels. But after looking at the menu, we all agreed this was the better choice for our group of six, in terms of food selection and prices. Holy moly, my fellow American yelpers will also balk at the prices once you take a peek at the menu because meals will definitely be $25-$40 for dinner for one. And that's just for a dish! So the boo and I split a tuna burger, which was so tenderly made and perfectly seared. I loved that the staff put in extra effort to cut our burger in half after we briefly mentioned to the server that we'd be splitting this meal. It's the little things that matter! Portion sizes were the perfect amount of filling--not too much or too small. I eyed my friend's cauliflower starter which was literally an uncut head of cauliflower...which did not look easy or appetizing to eat. Service was very friendly and swift. They were pretty full, but didn't have to wait at all to be seated by the hostess. Our waiter didn't speak English that well, so we got another guy who was great and cracked some jokes with us. We all got beers--the weizen was yum and the perfect amount of zingy flavor and hops for my tastes. Beer is literally the best way to destress, amirite? We also got water upon being seated, which was great to keep us awake and rejuvenated. Their restrooms are very clean, although a bit closer in quarters compared to most restaurants back home. I just didn't feel anything spectacular from Steinfels. We didn't have any other dinner place to compare it to in Zurich because we only had one night here, but referencing it to places back in the States and other cities in Europe, this was nothing much to write home about.
