Nordsee seems solid. I ordered some San Marino seafood salad to go. I asked for about 175g & got 230g, but it seems like much of it was filler: that is, they scoop up too much extra oil along with the seafood. At 69.90 Euro/kg, I didn't really want a lot of extra oil for my seafood to swim around in. A small cup of the seafood salad & oil ended up costing 16.08 Euro in July 2021. I stopped by this place and was about to order. However since I didn't read German I was using google translate to translate to English. Then the cashier guy immediately yelled at me and said no video and he was said he was going to call the police. Is that the service a customer is supposed to get. I ordered the fried shrimp at this seemingly local fast-food joint. It was around $10 USD for the portion I asked for and it came with a sweet tar tar sauce. The shrimp was quite crunchy and meaty but it lacked flavor without the sauce and that was a problem itself. The sauce itself was utterly disgusting. It was clearly packed with sodium and other fatty substances which completely makes the shrimp unpleasant to eat. I'd avoid unless you are really hungry and can no longer wait for food. read more

High prices for "fast-food" but the quality and portions of the food were impressive. This Nordsee is on the main pedestrian drag in Vienna between Karlsplatz and Stephansplatz on Karntner Strasse. It was packed when we visited on a rainy weekday afternoon. Ordering is done rapidly as you walk through a buffet-like line of food while a staff member creates a plate with the foods of your choosing. The McDonald's-like, backlit, picture-based menu on the wall didn't have English descriptions and no one working at the restaurant spoke English either. Just by pointing and gesturing, I was able to get a colossal, fried whitefish filet of unknown species along with a solid 3 cups of sauteed mushrooms. The price was very high, €15 per person, but the food quality was good and the portion was super filling. The seating area was decently clean and packed to the limit. Again, almost like an upgraded McDonald's. Overall, this was a delicious, super fast, casual lunch solution for a day full of sight-seeing. read more

Food was mediocre.. They tend to cook/fry most of the food and put them in warmers. We got the fish & chips- we wanted a small order, but only "large" is available for dine in. Also, I ordered the "cocktail" shrimp, which is 5.99 for 100 grams, which is about less than half of a pound. I only wanted a few to try, so she gave me three shrimps. She put the shrimps on a heavy, glass plate & weighed the whole thing. I doubt she zeroed out the plate and weighed only the shrimps. But my THREE shrimps cost me 2.99......... This is a great place to grab a quick snack. They have all sorts of sea food choices, and the food is very yummy. I didn't have too much time, so I ordered the mix box with fish and shrimps and cocktail sauce. I loved it! Never seen a shop that serves quick seafood. Seafood fast food, I liked it. I had one of the specials which was a fish sandwich, fries, and a drink. It wasn't exceptional but it was just the flavor combination I was looking for. They have lots to choose from so going back would be a good thing. The main advantage of this branch is they are one of the few places you can grab a quick bite later in the evening along Kärntnerstrasse. Prices are a tad high for what they serve, but less costly than if you were to get something to eat in a nearby restaurant or cafe. Quality of what's left can dip a bit as the hours pass, so choose carefully if you are getting something to eat toward closing time. read more

Nordsee is simple and straightforward. You get great fish cooked in simple ways. This restaurant chain reliably offers quick, good food at reasonable prices. I was impressed that they don't charge for tap water here! Unfortunately that's become a "thing" in Austria. I was able to order a simple fried fish with tartare sauce with no sides (not even fries) for just 6 euros. We where walking around and it was so cold. We where site seeing and we came across this place. I wanted some fish so I had some fish sticks and fritters. Cheap and real fast. It was like a fast food joint. There was a huge line and the employees where helpful since I didn't know the language. She explained some things as best as she could and helped me out. I would go there again even though it was mostly fast food but there are salads too. I ended up going there again anyways. read more

Good, simple, affordable and value for money. I have visited many times. You dont visit nordsee expecting the best seafood in the world. However, the food is tasty and good value. There is also a toilet downstairs which is convenient for tourists (although it gets very dirty at the end of the day). I recommend the paella, which is flavourful and not too 'dry'. It also has a few different types of seafood in it, which is nice. The salmon is also good. You can choose 2 types of sides to add to your meal (potato, carrots). Its easy to order for a tourist who can point at the signs, and there are always seats available. Good for big groups, and very convenient that they are open late read more

Super rude people, they charged us twice and we noticed when we finished eating, they didnt want to accept they charged twiced (we even had the receipt) and told us they were sorry we noticed too late they charged twice. Great selection of fresh fish and side dishes! It can get crowded but since it is cafeteria style you never have to wait long to get your food. This was important for us, since we did so much touring and walking in Vienna, when we remembered to eat, we were always almost nearly starving. The salmon is excellent! Dont let the photos fool you if you are not a shellfish eater, they have plenty of other white fish and salmon fish options too. They also have sushi, but we didn't try it. read more

I must have eaten at Nordsee 4-5 times in Vienna and Salzburg. Quick and easy food which is pretty good if you stay away from the fried stuff. Salmon filet and veggies, lox and bagel, how can you go wrong? Fast food that is not the typical heart attack waste bulging junk one finds in the states. read more
