Roger, the foreman, has been doing this work for almost 30 years, and Jose, who single-handedly carried in/out the windows/doors, has been doing this work for 10+ years. I didn't get the name of the quiet third service person who was mostly outside and on the ladders, also very efficient. fyi, they did mention that working on the 4th floor of our condos from ladders was a bit more challenging as the original builder-grade windows had been made to fit by being packed/taped in place from the outside, which necessitated them having to actually break some of the glass to be able to pull the old windows out. Jim arrived quickly for an estimate and helped me explore the possibilities of the space, even going so far as to note what would be difficult or expensive to pull off. Within days he provided an estimate for the job, which I found out during the process was a major ordeal involving many phases and individuals, so I'm impressed he was able to produce a price so quickly (and in the end it was an accurate price). I signed Jim up for the job because of his straightforward and pleasant attitude. In the weeks and months that followed (this was a major job, I want to note), Jim gave me frequent updates about what workers I could expect to come by and when/how-long they would be there. Every person who came onto the property was skilled and good about communicating what they would be working on, especially when they had questions about the possibilities of the space. Jim also handled all of the work involving the permits and he worked with the county to ensure everything was up to code. As a property manager myself, I appreciated his clean contracting process - he'll print out two copies so both you and he can sign, he'll document the down payment amount and check number (and sign), he'll get his insurance agent to provide you with a COI right after, and keep you updated regularly throughout the project and will document any change orders with updated payment schedules. Our deck project became complicated by obvious grading/drainage issues and sunken footers at the adjacent porch that the deck is flush to, which caused our project cost to increase significantly. Some would say that the change in scope is a pricing tactic, and maybe it is for some, but not Jim. He carefully explained and showed us the issues, then helped prioritize them so we knew what really needed to be addressed and what could wait. What should have been an exciting project has turned into an 18-month ordeal with no end in sight. This experience has been plagued by poor communication, poor project management, and incompetent craftsmanship. The project has taken far longer than quoted, and some of the finished work is so poor that it resembles a DIY job--most notably the installation of our patio door and beverage refrigerator. While some cabinets are acceptable, many arrived defective (cracked paint, loose supports, unfinished details), and others were incorrect or never delivered. It became clear that the initial plans were not properly reviewed, resulting in incorrect material orders. We have had to consistently push to get any work completed and repeatedly demand fixes for issues that should have been done the first time correctly. The project manager was largely uncommunicative, deadlines were missed, and there was little evidence of proper oversight. To be fair, the workers on-site were polite. However, the lack of leadership, coordination, and accountability from management made this a frustrating and exhausting experience. After 18 months, we still do not have a functional kitchen. We have been forced to rely on a microwave, air fryer, toaster oven, and frequent dining out. Outstanding issues include: * Missing and uninstalled cabinets (including refrigerator enclosure) * Incorrect and poorly fitting molding * Damaged quartz (including dulling from acetone use and unremovable smudges) * Incomplete drywall, painting, and ceiling repairs * Pantry shelving not installed * Misaligned patio door that does not open properly * Hardware (handles/pulls) never installed This has been a constant battle to get corrections made. Poor communication, missed deadlines, and low-quality workmanship have defined this experience. We cannot recommend VKB or their cabinet vendor. Do not trust them with your remodel.

He offered a $1K discount if we agreed before he left, but what's $1K on a $32K price tag,so we told him we had 1 more contractor to meet with. And then there was Mr. Luis. He came in with a smile, removed his shoes and actually listened to all my concerns about my current bathroom and my dreams about my future one. He took his measurements and then repeated back the things I said I really wanted. There was no pressure and he said he would contact me in a few days with an estimate. It took him about 4 days to get back to me. Not only was his estimate significantly less,but it also came with a computer generated rendition of my bathroom space from multiple angles. I had sent him some tile patterns I liked, and he had them in the image, so I could really visualize my new bathroom. He did the rendition 2 more times with different tile patterns I sent him to help me choose the one I really liked. I also want to note that he could've easily charged more because I told him I thought it was going to cost $40K when he came to do the estimate,but he still gave me his honest price. We set a date for work to start after I paid a 33% deposit. His team, led by Mr. Wilson, were punctual and really respected my home. They draped wherever they needed to walk and they walled off my bedroom with plastic so dust and debris wouldn't get all over my living space. Mr. Wilson answered all my questions and kept me updated on everything being done each day. He assisted me in buying some of my products. His team kept everything very tidy when they left each day. He was a dream from start to finish. The 2nd deposit was due when the tile install began. Mr. Carlos did all of the tiling himself. He gave his professional opinion about the tile I chose for the shower floor, which led me to use the same tile as the shower walls and honestly, I like it better. The bathroom was completed in 2 weeks. The last deposit is due upon completion. When all the work was done, they polished and cleaned the entire bathroom AND several surfaces in my bedroom. They wiped down and dusted the TV stand and fireplace (both in the sitting area outside of the bathroom). They had only gotten a small amount of dust on them from the construction, so I just planned to dust when they were finished,but they did it for me without me asking. They also wiped down the bannister as they exited. As a mom of 3 kids under 5, I appreciated that more than they know. I've had people work in my house before who were neat, but I have never had a team clean up after themselves as thoroughly as this one.
