    Waiting for food...
    Don H.

I stumbled upon this place while looking for dinner options in Langley, BC. It was located next door to my usual Chipotle stop. So, I thought to give it a try. Noodlebox is a 'Chipotle-like' chain featuring Asian-inspired noodle dishes in which one chooses a sauce/style, a noodle variety, protein, and the desired heat. I went with the Japanese style Teriyaki box with the recommended noodles with Steak at medium heat. On the side, I ordered one vegetable spring roll. There was a long wait for the food, but it was packaged up nicely and hot. The spring roll was nothing special, but it was excellent as a snack. The noodles were still hot when I arrived at my hotel room. It has a nice flavor with just the proper spicy heat - and overall, the dish was tasty. I only gave them three stars as I paid extra for Steak, and there were only about four pieces of Steak and a few vegetables among the piping hot noodles. It was tasty, and I was hungry. But I was disappointed in the amount of protein. It may be a hit-or-miss place depending on when you go and what you order. I don't think the value is there for what you pay - I will pass it by next time.

    Yes they have beer.

I was on my way home from a weekend in Vancouver and still hadn't checked noodles off my food list. We stopped in Richmond but I'd forgotten nobody takes credit cards there, and I was running low on Canadian cash. So I hopped on trusty ol' Yelp and found Noodlebox just down the highway...and I'm SO glad I did! My friend and I were greeted immediately by the super friendly owner, who walked us through how their menu works and offered some suggestions. I quickly spied one of my all-time faves, Tom Yum Soup, and ordered it with three "stars" (here it's flames) of spiciness. It was super spicy - just like I wanted. But not only was it spicy, the Tom Yum broth was one of the best I've ever had. It was rich, complex, and full of signature Thai flavors. Nestled within were a variety of veggies, tender chunks of chicken, and (of course) noodles. My friend ordered the peanut sauce based noodle box which she also reported was excellent. We each enjoyed a pint of local craft beer and left with full tummies. We're currently plotting our return to Noodlebox. It's just over the border, after all!

I was so excited to find this location. I ate at the nanaimo one two years ago and couldn't wait to have another meal. Only complaint was the tiny amount of protein in my husband's bowl. Overall this is my idea of 'fast food!'

Looks like a fast food place, and maybe it is. Food flavor was good, but I felt there were more veggies than meat. A lot of sauce as well. I did like how you can vary the spice level, and the menu ordering board made everything straight forward. Not bad, but not my favorite place.

Noodle Box happy hour selection, great place

Definitely our favourite noodle stop and now we are keto, they still have the food we like to eat. Recommended is the Singapore Curry Box or the Buddha Bowl and of course, with spiralized zucchini noodles. I truly still like the Malaysian Hokkien noodles better. Nice local owner and friendly staff. Happy hour beer is .16 oz., nice, with 3 different tap choices. I have been a big fan of this Noodle Box since February 2018, and have been there many times. I also attended their grand opening back in the beginning and they have a takeout menu.

Terrible and so expensive for terrible food. We paid $16 for each box and both were terrible. The Spicey peanut box wasn't just bad it was gross. I eat a lot of questionable things (food that's been left out too long etc) and this I could not stomach. It was the one that looked the best but the most disgusting. The Cambodian Jungle curry box was super dry in comparison to the picture and not even the same colour. Flavour wise it was bland and 100% not worth the $$$. Food Fort food is better, save your money and go somewhere else. Kids meal was also terrible the noodles were very chewy

Okay fast take out food, but not overly impressive nor memorable. More about convenience than a place you go out of your way to come to.

Awesome place, Jacob does a great job at providing amazing food. Everything was hot and the sauce for the Naan was the best had to date.

don't really like how every bowl has to have three pounds of vegetables in it, but other than that this restaurant's pretty good

MaguroGuy had decent reviews and was not too far off the highway, so we decided to detour there. We overordered (as you can see from photos) but since we're used to things being tiny and unsatisfying, we had no idea what we were getting into. The lunch special is great, and my companion didn't need the extra rolls with it, though they were really tasty. I ordered a smattering of rolls, and was quite full. The fish is good, there are slightly heavier on rice than other places, but at least there was a good variety to choose from. We opted to skip the sashimi platter as it was $80, way higher than anywhere else we normally go. The parking is fine, it's in a lot, and it was daytime but had a decent number of lights. Service was quite friendly, and the ambiance of the restaurant was very cozy, despite it being a decent size. There are a hundred other sushi places in the area to try, but MaguroGuy was a solid experience and I would go back.

The hamachi nigiri was large, with a strange yellow/orange coloring (I have had hamachi hundreds of times and never ever seen it look like this). The texture was mushy, the flavor unlike any hamachi I have had before - a tough one. The salmon oshi was cold and the salmon tasted fishy/old (again, have had this many many places, so it isn't like I am judging against the first time trying oshi). Lastly, the old owner used to have a Banana Crunch Roll that was the bomb. Why this owner didn't learn how to make it and keep it on the menu is a head scratcher. On a positive note, the size of the fish portions were generous.

We are big fans of traditional fare, but the Block is a place we are so glad we experienced and will certainly return utilizing the knowledge we garnered during our first experience. A big thank you to for helping us through picking one price fixe January exploration of your local restaurants and filling it with other ala carte additions. As we often do we ordered far too much food, wanting to explore everything off a menu that is far reaching. Not sure if our additions worked with the price fixe menu, but we sure enjoyed checking everything out. The interior is interesting with the addition of structural steel in the space to keep this heritage building (I think) standing tall for a few generations. We sure hope it's still here for a long while and will most likely come again the next time we are in Victoria. That is saying a lot as there are a wide range of restaurants in the neighbourhood, but you do want to check the Block out!
