Nomad - Great menu and friendly service - Hookah Bars Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

Horrible. Bouncer would only let one of our friends in although there were tables available. He was super hostile for absolutely zero reasons. We decided to leave and go somewhere else instead. I've been before, service is questionable and the bouncer is always rude. Hookah isn't even high quality. The bar is so low for hookah bars in DC. read more

We live right here near H street and wanted to check out some of the chill looking spots we always walk and drive pass daily. My friend from out town wanted Hookah so this spot was perfect and convenient . Before we even entered the facility the front door staff member (African American) male became rude as we were getting out our ID and used profanity ass well. That was a very bad first experience and extremely uncomfortable .I feel like there needs to be some proper hospitality training . I'm not sure if the guy was having a bad day or what but you don't speak to people that way especially if we are coming to spend our money in your facility. I truly apologize for complaining and I usually look past a lot but that guy was very rude.. read more

Nomad - Blue Mist - Hookah Bars Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

Terrible waitressing staff. I wish I knew the girls name but she never introduced herself. This establishment refused to accommodate my party because a few of my colleagues did not drink or smoke but wanted to hang out with the team. I think it's unethical for a business to try to bully or pressure customers into drinking and smoking. If they don't want to as long as others are purchasing things it should be fine. Idk if they just needed more money for us or not but that not they way you treat people. Especially on an empty Tuesday night. The manager was nice but the waitress needs to be fired! Management just stuck up for her like she was right. Never once apologized. The waitress attitude towards us was so harsh and unwelcoming. If only she knew who we were and how much our influence matters. We will share this encounter with others. I would not advise anyone to patronize this establishment. If you really read reviews you'll see that a majority of people agree that the staff here is the worst! I wish I read the reviews before coming here. You have been warned. read more

UPDATE: The owners went out of their way to make things right. We were invited back and it was an entirely different experience. We came on a Saturday evening, and it was full but not frenzied. The staff were all very friendly and we were served almost immediately after sitting down (although we were chastised slightly by the bouncer because our group took a little while to come inside, so the door was opened a little longer, which is totally fine since it was to ensure an appropriate temperature inside). Our hookah charcoals were consistently refreshed, our server was very attentive and friendly, and it was an overall very enjoyable experience. We will likely return again, especially this winter since it seems a bit more relaxed. read more

Excellent environment, customer service and location. I really enjoy H St as a whole. A good hookah place is something that makes this area really well rounded to me. It's a nice place to relax amidst a street that is ripe with partying. The customer service was on point. I asked for a rose and blue mist hookah and it was promptly delivered. Any time I needed anything, the staff was more than happy to assist. There were only two cons. 1) No music on the patio. I know it's a policy of the area but it makes me feel like something is missing. Far from a reason not to go here but something to know in advance. 2) No food. Otherwise, top notch location with a friendly attentive staff. I will definitely be back. read more

Nomad - Can't ask for much more. Great friends, wonderful weather and a tasty hookah. - Hookah Bars Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

I've been to many hookah lounges in DC and Nomad is by far the best. From there outstanding drink specials to the many selections of hookah flavors. Pirates Cave kiwi is something out of this world! I've never had such a great flavor. Brian Omar and Brittany made my visit here exceptional. I will be returning very soon read more

Stopped by here spontaneously on a warm Saturday evening. My boyfriend wanted to get a drink but I wasn't exactly in the mood for a cocktail so this spot was a great compromise for the both of us, well at least we had hoped it would be. My boyfriend got a beer for $11 (a simple Heineken) and I got one hookah, Rose flavored, for $29. It was kind of expensive despite the specific hookah flavor I got was the cheapest option. And in all honesty, I was not expecting this kind to pricing given the location and how the bar actually look. It didn't look like a fancy spot nor was there a special dress code. But regardless the hookah experience was fine. What was very annoying and why I am giving this place a 2/5 star rating is the water situation. I had asked for 2 glasses of water, and instead of bringing us normal iced water, they brought out 2 Evian bottles of water. Charged us $7 for them! I had to ask the waiter if we were really being charged for water especially since we are getting a drink/hookah. She stated "we don't serve tap water here" and gave me a look like I was crazy for even disputing her. Kind of ridiculous that a hookah bar would charge for water, no?? The shisha experience can make anyone parched, why isn't water complimentary? I had to ask if they could take off one of the bottles of water and I'll just have one which I'll share with my boyfriend. This ruined my mood and I wasn't fully able to enjoy my time here. I will not be returning here. read more

Omg Nomad was so much fun! It's very relaxing, chill environment - perfect for a group outing or a date night. Our server was Coy & not only was she attentive but she was also sweet. The hookah is reasonably priced and the drinks were well made. The music is amazing too; great vibes! I will def come here again! If you come, def ask for Coy, she will take care of you! Favs: Our server Coy!!! Would change: Nothing! :D read more

I reviewed this place a while ago, but there's a whole new staff so I need to do a new review and I need to shout-out Erica. She was such a great waitress! She was very attentive, had a great memory and personality! She offered alternatives when my date and I were torn between hookah flavors (but it was too late because I already ordered what I wanted him to try lol) Highly recommend this place. Only downside to the staff change.. No happy hour or tobacco refills on weekends you have to pay for a whole hookah. Parking: If you get here before 7 you're good ..after that just Uber or pray lol read more

Had an amazing time here this past weekend. This is a small yet very nice cozy atmosphere and the set up was perfect. We came as a group of 4 and opted to sit outside since the weather was perfect. We had no wait on a Saturday night which was impressive and we were promptly seated. This was my first time at this hookah establishment but I definitely loved smoking hookah outside. H street is a very busy street with a lot of foot traffic which made it much more interesting. Our servers checked on us regularly and never had to go looking for our server. We ordered drinks and strawberry mint hookah which were all good. I definitely will be returning here while visiting in the future. read more

Where do o even begin? These people are amazing, the hookah is outer spacial, and the drinks are legendary.

I've been here several times, nothing to make me rave about it but nothing to turn me away. The hookah is pretty solid except the double apple flavor. I don't know if that was just a bad one but it tasted like basura. Watermelon mint and pineapple mint seem like the best way to go on the hookah front. The patio is a cool vibe on a nice day or evening. Also, to claim the free beer with a yelp check in the invisible print says you gotta write a review. The invisible print may also say it has to be a good review... slippery slope with the invisible fine print. I'll update my review once I test the theory. read more

I am not sure why this place got such high ratings..... I'm no pro at hookah bars but I'd like to think that I go to quite a few of them that I know a bit or two. Selection are flavors are limited, parking's HORRENDEOUS, service is dodgy and lastly it's pricey too! Let me just say, save yourself the hassle and find somewhere else to wind down at because this place is surely not that. read more

In town for a quick visit from SF and Nomad was the perfect way to wind down our last night! Love the patio out back, shisha was on point, and Erica took great care of us. Really fun hookah bar but extremely overpriced. They impose table minimums ($150-$200) which I think is a little ridiculous. Service is usually pretty good though and they play good music. They have a really nice outdoor patio that's great when the weather is warm. My friends and I go here pretty often, partially because its fun and partially because there just aren't a lot of hookah bars in this area. I live in NoMa so sometimes it's a trek to Dupont/AdMo. Would recommend if you're looking for a good sheesha lounge. read more

Best hookah place in DC. Please ignore the one star reviews. There was a gentleman sitting next to me writing a bad review which was totally false. Seemed more like a bad night for him on a personal level. After trying to leave without paying; the bouncer made sure he paid. He comes back in and asks the same waitress he did not tip for another drink. In his review he wrote in plural as if he was with other people. He was alone. He specifically said "can you please get me another drink and I will tip you". Completely disrespectful. Guys please give this place a try. It will NOT disappoint. Excellent service. Omar was excellent, thank you for your service! And Roberto... don't go out to write bad reviews on establishments that are focused on providing great service and a good time. Coy and Dee were excellent as well. read more

This is my first time here at Nomad and I'm pretty impressed. It's a smaller bar but they do have outdoor seating as well, which is great when the weather is nice. This is the first hookah bar I've been to where they have a brand new hose for each hookah. We were seated as soon as we walked in the outside area and our waitress Erica was extremely friendly and ready to take our order right away. The hookah and our drinks didn't take long to come out and our waitress was very attentive. If you decide to come to Nomad, come see Erica and she'll take great care of you. read more

I was taking my girlfriend to celebrate her birthday and she wanted to go to a Hookah Bar, I chose this place because of all the reviews. Let me tell you the reviews were not lying, our server PJ was amazing and very outgoing. The bouncer Damon kept coming up to us to make sure we were good, everyone that worked there is they walked by our table would ask how we are doing and if we needed anything. Best service I have had in along time and mind you I go out 5 times a week so this says a lot. We will definitely go back, they had a wide variety of flavors for the Hookah which we did double apple with vodka. We loved it, & the drinks were very tasty, definitely worth the price. We were all made to feel like it was our birthday at Nomad! The music was perfect we were looking for a chill trendy place and we found it! read more

Nomad - First time-er - Hookah Bars Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

This is a cute little spot tucked away that I enjoy going to when me and my friends get a free night to relax and enjoy each other company. However, last night was the first time that I was upset with the establishment. When we arrived and asked If we wanted to sit outside or inside we figured we go outside since we had never sat there before. We sat down was greeted by our server and then placed our order. AFTER our ordering she comes back and says "Also, the patio closes in an hour and you'll have to close out and leave". Confused we asked if we could simply just move inside because we didn't even know that and we also didn't plan to come out and only sit for an hour. She told us no we can't transfer since we ordered already and if you do you have to close out and do a new tab after being put on a waitlist for a table. Now we have no problem if that's the rules but someone should have told us BEFORE we sat down and especially before we ordered. Wanting to just speak with the manager and let her know the slight frustration of our night, is what really upset us. Between asking other staff for her to come by and even getting her attention she completely ignored us. She never came by to even see what the issue was. She Didn't even know if it was a bad or good complaint. We finally closed our tab and was able to get a table on the inside. Moral of the night we will ask all questions about the policies before ordering. read more

Brian and Brittany were incredibly quick with their service, very personable and they check-in with us more than ANY hookah bar/lounge/bar that I have ever been in. Review based on the hookah and service. I must say that I did wait in line for an hour and 15 mins when the guy at the front said it would only be 20 mins total. Pretty dope place. Very very small. But their music is great. Hookah is about $25-$30 and drinks are around $12-$15. They have a huge variety of hookah flavors so you get pretty much get what you want. I'm a fan of star buzz so I was thrilled when I saw they had it. The place can probably fit a maximum of 50 people. And that's if every single table is taken. They're booths have a $100 minimum so they rather four people sit in them instead of first come first serve. It was only two of us and we spent well over $100. To think I could have been seated long before is frustrating and annoying. They said they open up their patio when it gets warmer so I'll be back to check that out. Over all the service was great, the manager, the waitress. Everyone was super attentive. And they have an entire hookah store next door which was a huge plus! read more

I've been here once during the work week and coming on a weekend during the day evening is completely different so I felt the need to make another review lol. D was our waitress and she was amazing. It is MUCH more crowded and the playlist is diverse. She was very attentive. We literally had nothing to ask for. She renewed our hookah and drinks. I would Uber if you come on the weekend to avoid parking headaches, but either way the service is well worth it! read more

This used to be my favorite hookah bar but I won't be returning. I went last night around 7:30. There were only a few people inside and the bouncer told me that my friend and I couldn't sit next to each other, we had to sit across from each other. I found that pretty weird because I had been to Nomad numerous times on dates and I was able to sit next to my date. I could barely hear my friend and I was so irritated considering the place was not packed at all inside. The music was terrible. In the past when I had come to Nomad they were usually playing some Bob Marley, Top 40... you know, upbeat music? The music they were playing was electronic but definitely not EDM. It was *maybe* a little better than elevator music. Our server seemed really busy... on previous visits I remember having very friendly servers who took the time to even chat with us a bit. We ended up leaving way earlier than we had anticipated. The only highlight of the night was some people from 1800 tequila giving out free shots. The hookah was good too. It's a shame that my favorite hookah bar isn't the same as it used to be. read more

Couldn't get in to Toki so we quickly found an alternative Saturday night activity - and glad we did! REASON FOR COMING: We grabbed food from the Indian restaurant across the street then came here for hookah/drinks. It's Saturday night so we basically got rejected everywhere we went, but not Nomad! ATMOSPHERE: Dim lights with music in the background inside. Intimate seating outside on the patio - all ideal for a hookah place. Larger parties should look to stay inside. SERVICE: The hostess greeted us right away and there was a table that just opened up on their patio as we came in. Our waiter was friendly and joked around with us which we love! That sort of thing adds to any experience and enhances one that could otherwise be mundane. He was quick with our hookah/drinks. HOOKAH/DRINKS: Got the something something Goddess haha packed with mango/vodka. They have a great hookah/drink selection to choose from for all cravings. PARKING: Weekdays, decent. Weekends - parking is more likely to be available further down around 6th/H. You can walk down. Spots usually open up closer to the area the later it gets. OTHER: Located on the recently trending H Street corridor in Northeast DC, Nomad is near other appealing places for food/activities before/after coming here. If one's familiar with NE you know homeless people will bombard your experience. We did have to encounter quite a few in the middle of enjoying ourselves on the patio, but nothing too distracting from the overall experience. read more

Nomad is definitely an asset to the the H street area; great hookah, great atmosphere, great vibe, and good drinks, all without having to trek across town to NW. What I like most about Nomad is that they stick to what they know: hookah. There's no food or appetizers (so if you're hungry, eat before you arrive) so the entire experience is all about smoking and drinking. Because of this specialization, I was downright impressed with a number of things: -the hookah flavor list is pretty impressive and reasonably priced (and even a better deal during happy hour); -the service is exceptional; they don't charge you for additional coals and replace them frequently without you having to ask; -they are not stingy with the tobacco. One hookah (shared amongst two people) will last you for hours. -the environment is small and intimate, making it a great date spot. The only mistake I made was heading to Nomad on game night during football season; people hooping and hollering at televisions can seriously interrupt your laid-back vibe. I love this spot and will definitely be visiting it regularly. read more
