My friend from out town wanted Hookah so this spot was perfect and convenient . Before we even entered the facility the front door staff member (African American) male became rude as we were getting out our ID and used profanity ass well. That was a very bad first experience and extremely uncomfortable .I feel like there needs to be some proper hospitality training . I'm not sure if the guy was having a bad day or what but you don't speak to people that way especially if we are coming to spend our money in your facility. Terrible waitressing staff. I wish I knew the girls name but she never introduced herself. This establishment refused to accommodate my party because a few of my colleagues did not drink or smoke but wanted to hang out with the team. I think it's unethical for a business to try to bully or pressure customers into drinking and smoking. If they don't want to as long as others are purchasing things it should be fine. Idk if they just needed more money for us or not but that not they way you treat people. Especially on an empty Tuesday night. The manager was nice but the waitress needs to be fired! Management just stuck up for her like she was right. Never once apologized. The waitress attitude towards us was so harsh and unwelcoming. If only she knew who we were and how much our influence matters. We will share this encounter with others. I would not advise anyone to patronize this establishment. UPDATE: The owners went out of their way to make things right. We were invited back and it was an entirely different experience. We came on a Saturday evening, and it was full but not frenzied. The staff were all very friendly and we were served almost immediately after sitting down (although we were chastised slightly by the bouncer because our group took a little while to come inside, so the door was opened a little longer, which is totally fine since it was to ensure an appropriate temperature inside). Our hookah charcoals were consistently refreshed, our server was very attentive and friendly, and it was an overall very enjoyable experience. We will likely return again, especially this winter since it seems a bit more relaxed. read more

I was suspect of this place from the outside looking in, but when I walked in I was immediately loving the vibe. This hookah bar wasn't filled with pretentious people, but rather people who were looking up chill out like myself. The waitress quickly seated me and my friend and made several flavor selections for the hookah. We trusted her and had the watermelon mint. It was very good. It's a nice place to relax amidst a street that is ripe with partying. The customer service was on point. I asked for a rose and blue mist hookah and it was promptly delivered. I'm not too big on hookah, but I'm into vibes. Nomad has got vibes. Unless you want to stay as far away as possible from smoke, I'd definitely recommend Nomad if you're in the mood for a laid back evening. My first visit, my friends and I sat out on the sidewalk patio and soaked up the sounds of the city. Since it was around 10pm, I could tell the scene was picking up a bit and the music inside was a reflection of that, crankin' some of the newest, most popular hip hop. Service was prompt, communicative and the manager on site was super friendly. The second time I dropped by it was much earlier in the day, just a bit after opening around 6pm. It was much less crowded, so we found a nook inside where we could enjoy a little bubbly. We really only planned on having a glass or two, but when the waitress told us that a bottle was only around $39 (?) we went for it. With the sun peaking through the windows, in our silk adorned, cushioned nook, we ended up hanging out for hours just chatting and people watching. Our waitress was so patient with us and continued coming back to check on us every 20 minutes or so to make sure everything was still all good. If we had needed her attention prior, she was always within sight, ready to look out for us. Overall, a great option on H Street if you like hop hop but appreciate a laid back vibe. read more

My boyfriend wanted to get a drink but I wasn't exactly in the mood for a cocktail so this spot was a great compromise for the both of us, well at least we had hoped it would be. My boyfriend got a beer for $11 (a simple Heineken) and I got one hookah, Rose flavored, for $29. It was kind of expensive despite the specific hookah flavor I got was the cheapest option. And in all honesty, I was not expecting this kind to pricing given the location and how the bar actually look. It didn't look like a fancy spot nor was there a special dress code. But regardless the hookah experience was fine. What was very annoying and why I am giving this place a 2/5 star rating is the water situation. I had asked for 2 glasses of water, and instead of bringing us normal iced water, they brought out 2 Evian bottles of water. Charged us $7 for them! I had to ask the waiter if we were really being charged for water especially since we are getting a drink/hookah. She stated "we don't serve tap water here" and gave me a look like I was crazy for even disputing her. Kind of ridiculous that a hookah bar would charge for water, no?? The shisha experience can make anyone parched, why isn't water complimentary? I had to ask if they could take off one of the bottles of water and I'll just have one which I'll share with my boyfriend. This ruined my mood and I wasn't fully able to enjoy my time here. Had an amazing time here this past weekend. This is a small yet very nice cozy atmosphere and the set up was perfect. We came as a group of 4 and opted to sit outside since the weather was perfect. We had no wait on a Saturday night which was impressive and we were promptly seated. This was my first time at this hookah establishment but I definitely loved smoking hookah outside. H street is a very busy street with a lot of foot traffic which made it much more interesting. Our servers checked on us regularly and never had to go looking for our server. I've been here several times, nothing to make me rave about it but nothing to turn me away. The hookah is pretty solid except the double apple flavor. I don't know if that was just a bad one but it tasted like basura. Watermelon mint and pineapple mint seem like the best way to go on the hookah front. The patio is a cool vibe on a nice day or evening. Also, to claim the free beer with a yelp check in the invisible print says you gotta write a review. Really fun hookah bar but extremely overpriced. They impose table minimums ($150-$200) which I think is a little ridiculous. Service is usually pretty good though and they play good music. They have a really nice outdoor patio that's great when the weather is warm. My friends and I go here pretty often, partially because its fun and partially because there just aren't a lot of hookah bars in this area. I live in NoMa so sometimes it's a trek to Dupont/AdMo. Seemed more like a bad night for him on a personal level. After trying to leave without paying; the bouncer made sure he paid. He comes back in and asks the same waitress he did not tip for another drink. In his review he wrote in plural as if he was with other people. He was alone. This is my first time here at Nomad and I'm pretty impressed. It's a smaller bar but they do have outdoor seating as well, which is great when the weather is nice. This is the first hookah bar I've been to where they have a brand new hose for each hookah. We were seated as soon as we walked in the outside area and our waitress Erica was extremely friendly and ready to take our order right away. Let me tell you the reviews were not lying, our server PJ was amazing and very outgoing. The bouncer Damon kept coming up to us to make sure we were good, everyone that worked there is they walked by our table would ask how we are doing and if we needed anything. This is a cute little spot tucked away that I enjoy going to when me and my friends get a free night to relax and enjoy each other company. However, last night was the first time that I was upset with the establishment. When we arrived and asked If we wanted to sit outside or inside we figured we go outside since we had never sat there before. We sat down was greeted by our server and then placed our order. AFTER our ordering she comes back and says "Also, the patio closes in an hour and you'll have to close out and leave". Confused we asked if we could simply just move inside because we didn't even know that and we also didn't plan to come out and only sit for an hour. She told us no we can't transfer since we ordered already and if you do you have to close out and do a new tab after being put on a waitlist for a table. Now we have no problem if that's the rules but someone should have told us BEFORE we sat down and especially before we ordered. Wanting to just speak with the manager and let her know the slight frustration of our night, is what really upset us. Between asking other staff for her to come by and even getting her attention she completely ignored us. She never came by to even see what the issue was. She Didn't even know if it was a bad or good complaint. We finally closed our tab and was able to get a table on the inside. Moral of the night we will ask all questions about the policies before ordering. read more

Review based on the hookah and service. I must say that I did wait in line for an hour and 15 mins when the guy at the front said it would only be 20 mins total. Pretty dope place. Very very small. But their music is great. Hookah is about $25-$30 and drinks are around $12-$15. They have a huge variety of hookah flavors so you get pretty much get what you want. I'm a fan of star buzz so I was thrilled when I saw they had it. The place can probably fit a maximum of 50 people. And that's if every single table is taken. They're booths have a $100 minimum so they rather four people sit in them instead of first come first serve. It was only two of us and we spent well over $100. To think I could have been seated long before is frustrating and annoying. They said they open up their patio when it gets warmer so I'll be back to check that out. This used to be my favorite hookah bar but I won't be returning. I went last night around 7:30. There were only a few people inside and the bouncer told me that my friend and I couldn't sit next to each other, we had to sit across from each other. I found that pretty weird because I had been to Nomad numerous times on dates and I was able to sit next to my date. I could barely hear my friend and I was so irritated considering the place was not packed at all inside. The music was terrible. In the past when I had come to Nomad they were usually playing some Bob Marley, Top 40... you know, upbeat music? The music they were playing was electronic but definitely not EDM. It was *maybe* a little better than elevator music. Our server seemed really busy... on previous visits I remember having very friendly servers who took the time to even chat with us a bit. We ended up leaving way earlier than we had anticipated. The only highlight of the night was some people from 1800 tequila giving out free shots. The hookah was good too. It's a shame that my favorite hookah bar isn't the same as it used to be. read more

I saw a hookah bar with good reviews and decided to go with a couple friends on a Saturday night. There was no line and they were at about 50% capacity. Our group of three people was told by the person at the door that they were out of "three persons" tables- however they did have 4 person tables and booths. BUT to sit at the four person table, the cost would be at least 200 dollars. Our group of three decided that this was too expensive and promptly left and found a great hookah bar a couple blocks away. read more
