Uncaged Chef Pop up menu
Bianca P.

I went to 12-DC on a whim for the Uncaged Chef Pop up brunch/dinner. I had an awful dining experience! I ordered the shrimp and grits. The food was good however, the sausage that came in the dish was cold... as if it was fresh out the refrigerator! The dish comes with 8 shrimp, I only received 6. But the real icing on the cake were the hairs I found at the bottom of my serving dish .... GROSS! I'm not sure if this experience is indicative of 12-DC or the Uncaged chefs but I'm not happy! To add insult to injury, the yelp check in discount was not honored because it was a pop up. Cards and cash are accepted. Hookah is available. I wouldn't bring a large group to eat here as they do not have the space. Expect typical DC parking.

12Twelve is a new bar/lounge on H st. I came here on a Friday night with a few friends. The owner was VERY VERY nice. She made sure I was taken care of throughout the night. Great first impression!! Food- The food was seasoned very well and the portion was a pretty large. Drinks- The happy hour is until 9 pm. The prices for the drinks were BOMB, especially considering the normal prices in DC. $4 House Drinks, $3 Beers, $5 Long Island. Venue- This place has 2 floors. The first floor has bar/restaurant setting. 2nd floor is more of a lounge/club setting. It's very cute in here. Overall If you're looking for a new cute lounge in DC, I would recommend 12Twelve!

By no means is this a fancy venue which is located on H street however, what it lacks in visual appeal it makes up for in a great environment, really good prices, and quality service. I stopped here on a Tuesday (which apparently is their Taco Tuesday night) for a quick nightcap which turned out to be a great experience. The deals on this night included $2 tacos and $2 tequila including shots which is a hard bargain to beat. In addition to the deal they provide happy hour from 4pm-9pm which is awesome. The happy hour menu is fairly good with options ranging from wings to shrimp sliders. They have a decent sized dining area but at this time most of the guests were at the bar which is a good size not too large where you need multiple bartenders, but enough room to accommodate a decent sized crowd. The bartender was excellent, attentive and knowledgeable about the various drinks even with it being her first day as the happy hour drinks range from $5-$8 with several options from tequila sunrises to blue motorcycles. I highly recommend stopping by if your looking for affordable food, drinks, and great vibes.

This is probably the best restaurant for wings in town. The absolute best buffalo and old fashioned wings with DC's original Mambo sauce.

There is Street parking only. Not busy during the day on the side streets. Mostly seafood and soul food. I don't know who the chef is.

They didn't come help us until we attempted to go upstairs which was closed. The hostess graciously gave us her table. We were handed happy hour menus and as we were ordering drinks we were told the price for shots is not $6 anymore it's $10. We opted for the lemon drop which was ok. We ordered wings, egg-rolls, and a quesadilla. The wings came out first. The hot honey is just ok, not really hot. The egg rolls came out next and they were pretty good. The quesadilla took forever... we assume they probably forgot it. It was poorly put together and did not come with sour cream or pico as advertised. When I went to order another drink I was told happy hour was over at 8. The menu states 9:30p. At that point we were over it. The menu also states they don't split checks and they have politely tipped themselves 20%... they did at least allow the two of us to split. The atmosphere was ok, music was cool mostly R&B... they also have hookah but if you prefer to roll up and smoke, you are welcome to do that right at your table as well. What I think was the owner walked through several times but didn't seem to customer service focused bc he never spoke. One of the employees got pizza from across the street and ate it at one of the tables... looked pretty good. Might be worth trying.

THIRD TIMES THE CHARM!…read more This is my second time dining at Lydia's on H (third visit). My first time was Valentine's Day, and the restaurant, while calm, was chaotic, AKA the full menu was not available. The second attempt to dine there, the staff member (whose name I forgot, please charge it to my head and not my heart!) informed us before we sat down that the evening service was a limited menu. To entice us to return and ensure consistent customer-centric service, the bar manager invited us to return on the first night and asked the staff to inform us when we arrived. Sure enough, the next day, when we arrived, there was a note for the staff informing them that they should be expecting us. The vibe in Lydia's is always chill! The music is always good and at a volume where you and others can still enjoy each other's company with conversation if desired. Overall, the food, service, and ambiance at this establishment should be the standard for many others. Well done, Lydia's. We are excited to come back and try the steak-and-cheese egg rolls next time.

Food looks better than it tastes...just hear me out!…read more We decided to close out Black History Month by supporting a Black-owned establishment, very intentional, very on brand for us. It was also my first time trying Malawian cuisine, so I was genuinely excited to experience something different. I went with a group of friends after an event, which worked out perfectly because we were able to taste a little bit of everything. I ordered the Brussels sprouts as my starter; they were good, nicely seasoned. My only issue? Timing. They didn't come out first. Everyone else had their food, and my "starter" came right before my entrée, which kind of defeated the purpose. For my main, I had the shrimp and salmon rasta pasta. It was good...creamy, flavorful, but definitely spicy. Not unbearable, just be prepared if heat isn't your thing. My mocktail was refreshing and good too... just small. A couple real sips and it was gone. Overall, the service was good. They were accommodating and made sure our group was seated comfortably, even moving tables around so we had a better setup. I appreciated that. The ambiance was very Black eclectic: cool R&B vibes, nice energy, a solid spot to gather and vibe. Checl out my pics! I'll be rating each dish I tried on a 10 point scale. Would I return? Probably not. It wasn't bad; it just didn't wow me. And in the DMV, there are way too many other spots on my list to try.

Inside it is a bit small and very loud. Not that bad of a combination. Had myself a good time listening to the music while I downed my drinks. The thing that scared me the most about this place is the bathroom situation. You might as well say they are unisex bathrooms, but it was hard to tell when and if they were in use. I wasn't sure for a bit there and kind of walked away and return later. After a while you kind of get frustrated and just pull on the door and hope that there is no one inside. DJ was great. Giving a shout out to one of the members in my group as it was her birthday. Every time we thought we were going to leave, a song came on that made us stick around and sing along as we sang.
