This bead/jewelry/crystal store has a lot of variety and high quality options and is a very fun place to explore and if you have the funds, get supplies for your next arts and crafts project. Besides their products, the best thing about this store is the service. The employees were so sweet and helpful and really seemed passionate and interested in what they did. There was some stuff that was decently priced, but other things that definitely seemed absurdly priced to me. It seems like they do classes and workshops there too so that could be cool to check out but also probably expensive. The only other thing I would add is that they definitely had some items that seemed like cultural appropriation and exploiting cultural items so I didn't like that but unfortunately that tends to be commonplace in crystal/spiritual stores like that. Thanks to this place I was able to find the perfect hand shaped bead to glue to my new lighter case! I cut off the ring part and then glued a tiny piece of Magnesite to the hand for the finishing touches. My only complaint about this place is how I realllyy wish they had more copper beads in stock, as each time I'm there I can only find maybe one or two different kinds of copper beads. On my visit to this place there were 3 older ladies and one very young lady working there. I spent over an hour picking out all the things I wanted. During that time one of the older ladies was very loud and obnoxious and downright rude. Margo is her name as I looked it up on their website. Whatever. Went about my business. Finally was ready to check out and their computer system was down. Ok. Delayed. I had a tremendous amount of patience. Things happen. The young girl maybe 16 years old had no idea what she was doing. The older ladies were so rude to her. I felt so bad for her. At least 20 more minutes I was finally getting checked out. But the one lady, Margo, I heard being rude that whole hour and a half was rude to ME directly by telling me "I need to get by" so incredibly rude to me. Almost shouting it. The absolute only reason I still made my purchase was because I drove 30 minutes to get there and spent over and hour looking. But I assure you....I will never go back. Nomad has been Boulder's best bead merchant for many years, both when they were on East Pearl Street and now that they are just off the West end of Pearl. They find beads from everywhere, and if they don't have what you are looking for, they can tell you where to find it. Jake can tell or show you how to do just about anything and is a heck of a nice guy. Margo, one of the co-owners, does the buying and has an encyclopedic knowledge of all things beaded, also a friendly person. My favorite part about the store is that you can come with your beading stuff and sit down by the windows for a while to work on something in a place where you can ask for help or advice. This is really nice in the middle of winter when I can't find a sunny spot in my house, but they are always there with a welcome. read more

Huge selection and the owner was quick to restringing a bracket. It was very pricy for a nylon cord and them to string it for me. $19. He was a professional and knew exactly what to use and how to make sure it was strong and would last. His creative knots made it look better then the cheep leather cord that it was originally sold with. Upon stepping into nomad, one is enveloped first by the immense selection, and then the warm atmosphere. Boulder is known for its friendlyness and eccentricity. This place has that but so much more is encompassed! I went in to find some essentialls, crimper, 27 gauge copper wire, and a beading needle. I did not expect to find all these items. Nor did I expect such wonderful service! A young lady named ashlee, estute, on picking up how lost I was, stepped over to me beaming and asked what I needed. I told her hoping perhaps she'd have one or two in stock. However to my great delight she ran off and returned with not only all the items I asked for but also some potential substitute s and suggestions. I was enchanted by the kindness and dumbfounded by the variation! I must admit I encountered some difficulty leaving the store as I was so very drawn I'm by the ambiance and the array of shiny and spectacular objects. I brought my mother in law here to look for a new charm for her necklace. We were there for almost an hour. At approx 4:15pm, we were told, "Just to let you know, we close at 5." We said..."In 45 minutes? OK..." We were again reminded at 20 minutes-til, "We close at 5." It wasn't done in an informative way, but a rude one. In fact, all that I got from the staff was rudeness. My mother in law's chain was a little thicker than an average chain, so we were told they did not have beads large enough for it in silver. As we continued to look anyway, one of the women asked us if we could use further help. We told her we were still just looking for the beads and she literally goes, "Didn't you hear her say there aren't any big enough?" (By the way, they clearly didn't listen to what we were wanting--we found silver beads large enough to fit). There were three different staff members (I believe one of them was the owner), all of them rude. I brought two beads up to the cashier and she goes, "What are these?" I said...they're hematite beads and pointed where they came from. She goes, "I need the barcode". Not once had any of the staff mentioned that we should be collecting barcodes (by the way, if you're going to make your customers do this, have signs for those who don't shop for beads that often and don't know the protocol, and provide pencil and paper so they can write down what they have...HELLO). I had no problem going to read the barcode for her, but again, I was faced with such rudeness in that exchange that I wanted to walk out rather than support their business. I will never go into Nomads again. I refuse to support a business that wants their customers to cater to them and not the other way around. WE are supporting YOUR business, ladies. We did nothing to provoke any rudeness. I did not walk into your store to irritate you, but I am so sorry I did walk in. read more

She not only fixed the bracelet, she also gave me a gift box (since I had purchased the bracelet elsewhere as a gift). This bead store has a large selection and variety of beads, that is a positive. However, there mark up are insane, and they rarely have reasonable sales or promotions for their dedicated customers. I was put off my the over all attitude of the staff members. In particular, Margo. I was shopping over a weekend when I heard her and a staff member talking about how they are the only bead store in Boulder and that they don't have much competition. Granted, there selection is great, but so is their arrogance. I've been in this store over fifty times and can say that I have rarely been greeted, or even spoken to. When asking questions or in need of assistance I feel as if I am a hassle to the employees and their "assistance" is served with attitude. Also, if the prices are not marked on particular items employees will make up prices (higher than comparable items). I wish their level of attentiveness and customer service was better. It would make it easier to give my hard earned money to a family owned business. read more

How cool is that!!! They have helped me figure out design issues on my projects. And best of all they have repaired and renewed old broken necklaces for me for a very fair price. I went to this bead store today for the first time and WOW!! They have such a great assortment of beads in their store. I could spend hours in there and not get bored just looking at everything. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I wish they offered classes....their website says it is coming soon....they have free classes on sat. mornings but it is extremely limited which is understandable, there is not much room. I've been going to Nomad ever since I became a Tibetan Buddhist, and I would never take my mala elsewhere. Jake is the man. He always remembers me and my beads, and has helped with a lot of problem-solving for my mala...softening the edges of my beads, suggesting platinum wire, doubling the platinum wire, finding the best material for a wrist mala. He is so sweet, and everyone else up there is great, too. Also I am confident that for even expensive repairs/purchases, he tries his best to make it affordable for me, even if it means he isn't as making as much as he could be. I get the feeling that this is something he has done for many lifetimes. Also, there are a lot of cool beads for very, very cheap that I like to get to wear in my hair. For a family owned business, these folks seem genetically free of any customer service or even basic social skills. Want to see the worst customer service? Please go to Nomad. I left an expensive pedant and wanted the male owner to braid a necklace. When I picked it up, i found there was a chip on the coral. But he said it is natural. At night, I showed that to my husband. He said the chip was not there before. So today I went back to talk to him. We sit in the jewelry store next to Nomad. I brought my own X14 magnifier and asked him nicely if he could look at it again, because i thought it is a chip. He suddenly stood up and yelled at me" you are so redigulous. I do not want to talk to you. You go out of my store!" It is the first time in my life seeing such kind of "excellent" service. When he tried to get business, he smelled to you. When you have concern, sorry, go out of the store! If you want to bring expensive stuff there, make sure you take pictures before you drop there, ask the owner to look at carefully when you hand over and confirm there is no damage on your piece. when pick it up, check it carefully. Their selection is vast with all my favs: labadorite, lots of pearls, agate, pretty faceted glass beads (my new obsession), and a decent selection of findings and chain.
