We both were craving for Southeast Asian food and yelp's recommendations this restaurant to tryout and it's near by the place we are staying at on our vacation. Our waiter was very friendly, nice and the interiors were nice. A little convenient store to shop for snacks, drinks, sauces and you could also dine in because the other side is a restaurant. It's a win. We ordered the tofu soft spring roll, chicken satay, son tum lao (papaya salad), stir fried mixed veggies with chicken and a panang curry. Delicious Thai food in North Padre Island! A MUST VISIT!!! The service was amazing. The owner must have been at the parking lot and saw us heading in. They opened the door for us and was super accommodating. The ambiance was nice, clean, and had a comfortable vibe. I loved a lot of dishes! My family and I are suckers for Thai food, we probably eat it 2 times a week. So when we took a vacation down to Port Aransas and spotted this little joint we definitely had to check it out and we are so glad we did! Ambiance: Very nice and clean, not a whole lot of table so it's not too noisy. You have your store section when you first walk in and the dining area to the right. They have big screen TV's with different shows and light music. Service: The service was absolutely wonderful! From the minute we walked in to the minute we left. There was only one server and he didn't skip a beat with anyone! He was attentive to everyone's table and gave people plenty of time to enjoy their meal before coming back to check on you. Very friendly and kind. Food: The food was amazing, every dish! Everything came out hot and fresh and the portions are generous, which is nice because we were staying at a beach house and when we got hungry later, we just ate our leftovers and didn't have to worry about getting more food. The chicken satay and the wings were SO GOOD! Piping hot and fresh and full of flavor. Everyone's dish was amazing, all the flavors you would expect in your Thai food. The "only" complaint any of us had is that on the fried rice and drunken noodles the chunks of peppers were too big and excessive, and on the larb there were so many red onions it started to overpower the dish and I had to remove a lot of them, but once I did it was perfect. Island Italian was our original plan for tonight but they were closed for Easter, so we decided to try somewhere new. It was SO good. I had the Kow Soi with chicken. This was my second time having this dish, the first time at Soothr in NYC, which has a Michelin star. Nom's was every bit as good, maybe better. So flavorful and creamy, with very tender chicken. Large portions, good prices, and great service. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. Thai iced tea was very fresh, also a huge portion! The dining area is very cute, with lots of wicker lamps and small umbrellas, nice music at a good volume. The dish looks good and you are initially hit with the pungent sweet & sour fragrance. You have three fish patties, I asked if they were are hand breaded and fresh and Steph indicated they were. Overall the dish is OK for me...I didn't care for the breading on the fish and I doubt these are freshly breaded and fried...way to consistent in the breading. Nom's kitchen, our last dinner meal on the island. Wife was crvaing Thai food and I was a little skeptical when she told me about Nom's Kitchen. How cool that they have a little grocery store in their restaurant. All different kinds of Thai food and sauces. When we arrived, we order the Thai Chicken Wings and split the Beef Pad See Ew since we had a big lunch. Reading the reviews online, people described great service but maybe they were having an off night. They clearly were short staffed on this night and it showed. I understand that this is a family restaurant but I do wish the service was better, I'll chalk it up to quite a few people dining in. Also when they were running behind, they updated us and apologized. The chicken wings were flavorful and had a nice Thai chilli sauce, I wish they were a little bigger. The Beef Pad See Ew was huge. Even though we split the dish, we still brought home leftovers with us. I wish though that the dish was a little more Thai spicy. I don't think there was any heat on this dish. According to the menu, you can choose the heat level but we were never given that option. The Thai Tea was pretty good, just the right level of sweetness. Pretty decent Thai food on the island, my advice is to order things a little more spicy if you like spicy food. read more
