I was very disappointed with my experience at Thai Spice. I have never been charged separately for a Tom Yum soup base before. The Tom Yum soup was listed at $19.95, then shrimp was an additional $8.00, and mussels were another $10.95. In the end, a single bowl of soup that could only reasonably serve two people cost nearly $40. For a family of four ( 2 adults and 2 lil kinds) that pricing felt excessive and very frustrating. Another issue was the automatic gratuity. In most restaurants, gratuity is typically added only for larger parties, often five or more guests. At Thai Spice, gratuity was included regardless of party size. Whether you dine alone or with two, three, or four people, the gratuity is automatically added to the bill. Overall, I believe the owner should reconsider the pricing structure and gratuity policy. Charging separately for the soup base and toppings in this way does not feel fair to customers, and the automatic gratuity for all party sizes is disappointing. That's why I don't see anyone in the restaurant for weekend night because they are rip-off. read more

The staff and owners were incredibly welcoming--super friendly, attentive, and genuinely pleasant. The food was great and very spicy, so if you're sensitive to heat, make sure to let them know. I didn't mention a spice level, and my Pad Thai came out pretty fiery--but still delicious and full of flavor. Portions are generous, and while the prices run a little higher, you definitely get your money's worth. Overall, a solid choice for Thai food in Corpus Christi. I ordered delivery online, getting the green curry and spicy edamame. The edamame was good, not very spicy. It had onion, basil and carrots. When I ordered the chicken green curry it said spice level 3, it didn't give an option that I saw. I added tofu, it was plentiful with Thai eggplant and other items. It was so spicy I could barely eat it!! It's so hot! It came with rice, a couple watermelon slices and a couple small spring rolls (no sauce). I really never review bad I just don't go back but seriously this is not Thai. I could smell the old canola oil from the kitchen, not even peanut oil my Pad Thai in a taco shell....was oily, no flavor, no fish sauce, peanuts, bean sprouts, the noodles were a grey brown hard to tell exactly because the lighting was so dark. They put vegetables in my Pad Thai and the tofu was old and dry ingredients were old and missing overall disgusting no condiments offered nor on the table for you to make this edible. The napkins were waxy and smelled like they came from a musty moldy warehouse totally useless and didn't want the smell on my clothes. This was during the last freeze and I drove a super long way for work and was starving so yes I did eat what I could but honestly I was scared I was going to get sick. Loved and appreciated the welcoming service from the owners. The restaurant is very beautiful, and the relaxing music in the background really set the mood. I'm a lover of Thai cuisine, and it usually doesn't disappoint. There were definitely some highs and lows during our first experience at Thai Spice. My experience with the Pad Thai was mixed. I enjoyed the noodles, but the protein--particularly the beef--was too chewy and difficult to eat. My first bite left much to be desired, but the noodles did improve toward the bottom of the bowl. Oddly enough, my favorite part of the dish was the fresh pineapple and the tea, which really brightened the meal. My husband ordered the basil fried rice with chicken and lamb, and his dish had waaayyy more flavor than mine. It also had quite a strong kick at just a 2 spice level. He did mention that it was more hot than flavorful, but overall, it still tasted better than my Pad Thai. We would rate the food 3 stars overall, but we're giving 4 stars because the service was outstanding. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite meet our expectations. 3 Stars - Wanted to Love It, But Fell Short I really wanted to rate Thai Spice higher because the owners are genuinely kind and the service was warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, the food just didn't live up to the experience. I ordered the Pad See Ew, which was just okay--the highlight honestly ended up being the fried tortilla it was oddly served in (something I've never seen with this dish before). We also ran into a policy issue when my boyfriend asked to make a small substitution and was told it wasn't allowed unless he had a food allergy. That kind of rigid policy doesn't make for a great customer experience. Lastly, for a restaurant that presents itself as higher-end and prices accordingly, I was surprised to find the bathrooms in such poor condition--old and not very clean. There's definitely potential here, but the food and overall polish need to catch up to the service and pricing. read more

We showed up 30min before they closed and still took us in! The place before closed early even though it was 45min till close. The service was slow but that's because there were only four staff members total. As soon as we walked in, we felt at ease and the ambiance was calm and welcoming. The food was spicy even at level 1 but it was soooo good I powered through it. Hard to believe, I have lived in Corpus for many years but never tried this restaurant. I visited last night, it's a small intimate restaurant. We were greeted very warmly. The menu is extensive. Our server, who may be the owner was super friendly and helpful with the menu. We went basic with the fried rice, no joke, probably the best I have eaten at a Thai restaurant, and it is served in some kind of fried looking tortilla. Quiet, with a nicely classy feel and a friendly greeting from the owner, Thai Spice was a pleasant experience for a lunch or dinner dine. My first visit I got Tom Yum veggie, and second the pad see ew tofu. While I wish they used more traditional ingredients (was really hurting for the lemongrass and galangal in the Tom Yum, and was perplexed by the edamame and jicama in the drunken noodles), the overall combination was still tasty for both instances. Quite pricey, but I guess that's the problem for getting Asian goods in Corpus Christi. The presentation was well executed, and I appreciated the side of fruit that seemed to come with all the formal dishes. FYI, it seems several of the dishes on the last page of the menu come in a deep-fried bowl with the rice at the bottom in relevant dishes - might be worth asking about in the event you also found this a little extraneous. read more

Rude people, they think they are above everyone, they will make you pay $4 if you share your food which you paid with mandatory 20% tip. This is the first place i hVe ever been to where they make you pay to share your food. We got in, barely two tables full and they asked if we called for reservation, they werent happy when we said no. We sat down and wanted to ask what we can order for vegetarians and she said "i have clearly written down in the menu" as if we cant ask questions. It is like a bad teacher in the class who scold you for asking a question without reading a ***** book. I asked we are okay with dairy and she said rudely "we dont have dairy .. period". Did i mention they make you pay to share your food. Also whether or not the food or service is good they will make you pay 20% tip on the top of $30 dish which you cannot share with your fellow friend or relative. Both were amazing. The meal came with a soup that was also yummy. The service was excellent and the restaurant is very nice inside. I highly recommend. I have tried alot of Thai places, I even tried some in Paris. So far this is the worst I have ever been. The only one star they got is for their papaya salad and the restaurant set up. The rest of the food was plain, no taste, no flavor of true Thai food, even the padthai does not have the taste of padthai sauce. We had 4 people. When we came to the register to pay, the lady (I guest it was one of the owners) showed us the bill on the screen which has SUGGESTED TIP which means it is up to us to tip with that amount or not. Since the food was not that good, we were giving her less than what they suggested. BUT she told us to tip that much, it was like we had no choice to pay up so we did pay what they asked for the tip. Never come back again. I SUGGEST yall to think twice before coming here if you are looking for true Thai food. Love Thai Spice. Everything I've gotten so far has been delish and preparred to the hilt. Blossom Garnish, pineapple on the side, they even have coconut ice cream. Never disappoints and in the summer they have hibiscus tea. Whether you choose to get authentic red curry or Lamb chops you can't go wrong. The owners are sweet people and always a joy to talk to. I've read the other negative reviews here and I can't say that i've had any bad experiences to the extent that would warrant that sort of criticism.
