I can not express just how good Nom really is. But that's never stopped me before so here we go.
The team at Now have basically transplanted a little slice of Naples directly into the heartland of Marrickville. If you want pizza original enough for a Mafia Don, run, do not walk, to Nom right now. I'll wait.
We were fortunate enough to be taking our evening repast late in the evening while the proprietor Ryan was finishing up for the night. We got chatting and he was happy to give us a full tour of the store, starting with the ingredients. Everything, and I mean everything, that isn't fresh produce has been imported from Italy. The flour, the olive oil, the cheese, the tomatoes, even the WHOLE FREAKING PIZZA OVEN. Yes, they imported the wood fire pizza oven from Milan. They had to remove the store front window and crane the thing in for crying out loud!
Most importantly, the artisans behind the little slices of heaven they serve have also been imported from Naples. These guys make the bases in a traditional style, with rounds of dough flying everywhere in a show just as good as the food.
Oh the food! We had the margherita first up. This is simple fare, prepared with the freshest ingredients and so, so much love. Every ingredient stood clear and perfect. This is as good as pizza gets. On suggestion from Ryan we also tried the pumpkin and feta because in his words "it also tastes great cold if you can't finish". He wasn't wrong. I'll deviate and say that the coffee was so damn good, I was checking my pulse in case I'd died and gone to heaven.
Please do not go there is your idea of good pizza is an oily, thick base piled high with cheap meat and cheese. Do go there if you want some of the very best pizza in Sydney. read more
