I visited from Bellingham, WA with my family and picked up a few albums, including what I thought was Creedence Clearwater Revival - Pendulum. When I got home, I discovered another Creedence record was inside. I reached out to the store by email, and their team couldn't have been more helpful -- they quickly found the correct album and mailed it to me free of charge. That kind of service is what I look for and it shows how much they care about their customers and the music community. Beyond that, the store itself is fantastic -- a deep and diverse selection, friendly staff, and a great vibe that makes you want to spend hours flipping through the bins. If you love music, Beat Street is absolutely worth a visit. I'll definitely be stopping by again next time I'm in Vancouver!

Plus they have DVD, Blu-ray and even laserdisc. Counter gent was an old school movie geek like myself and was super fun to chat movies and the like with. I even headed off to the new sales Videomatica store afterwards and since I bought very little, went back to purchase more including a lessor-seen but reasonably priced Atom Egoyan collection of early films. (They covet the greats!) This store has it all in both rentals and sales - both of which are reasonable. LOVE THIS STORE!!!!!

On-street parking is always available for a quarter, with grocery and liquor store on same block plus quick eats across the street. Browsing with friends is priceless. There is no icebreaker like proposing and then having to defend the potential awesomeness of "Krull" from 1983. Staff are fittingly knowledgeable and casually geek about the films. Price is high. Late charge (over 7 days for regular titles) is just 50¢/day.

Having been a die-hard fan of the old rental store and retail laser-disc store next door back in the day, this one just didn't deliver the same movie magic. There are lots of mostly new titles but frankly not enough used items, as the unopened items are listed at astronomical prices ($50+ for each title!) and way out of range for the average collector. A few laser discs (need more) and a cool old Videodrome decal on the top of one of the displays, but overall not worth going out of your way for.

Most of their prices are equal if not less than what you'd find on Amazon, at their cheapest, and they're always totally up to date with the newest blu ray releases. The guy who always works the counter there always seems grateful for my business and I'm always happy to give it. My favorite spot in Kits, the place is quite small but I can get lost in its blu ray and DVD collection for hours looking at so many elusive and classic movie titles. It earns my full recommendation.

Keep in mind this isn't the first I've heard of this. I won't be going back to this store. I suggest visiting the Main Street (Neptune and RedCat Records) and downtown vintage record stores (BeatStreet) instead. The ironically named "Zulu" may have a decent collection of LP's but the service from management is ghastly.

Well, I have heard about this place and that they sell records and CDs and etc. I have never went inside. I decided to go in and see for myself. Outside looks like one of those old ghetto shops on Commercial Drive that looks like they have been here forever. Yeah maybe they have been here forever. I mean at least 20 years. Or even more. Inside was very well organized and bright. They have some pretty cool records for sale. Unfortunately, I am not one of those music advocate/ artist. I mean I do understand the music quality is better on records. To me I would not care much if I listened music on a CD or radio or ipad or ipod vs the highend record player.
