    Our wine selection

Loved this quaint place! We were on a getaway trip with family and couldn't resist trying this winery. I'm so glad we made a point to go. Their wine bottle prices weren't ridiculously high and they offered charcuterie platters and cheese trays- yum! My husband and I each had 5 tastings to better sample their varietals. We were both floored with the Demigod. Their curtain call was also made our top 3 list. If you go, you just try their hatch chili wine!! While we both preferred their green hatch, the red was different and might better suit others palates. Their sweet wines are definitely sweet and would please those with that as their preference. We loved this place so much we became wine members. Daniel was amazing! He was very knowledgeable, down to earth and made us feel like VIPs from the get go.

Our picks to take home...plus free Asiago! :)

This is a cute, little wine spot in Cloudcroft! They are also in Ruidoso, along with other smaller towns in New Mexico like Alto and Red River. This location is in the middle of a few shops. It's right next to Burro Street Bakery (which has amazing pies BTW!). We decided to do a wine tasting. I can't recall if they have different options for the wine tastings. We chose five wines for $5. I think that's a decent price! The samples are on the smaller side but you can't beat the price. They have tables inside and outside, along with a bar area. We stayed in the bar area. My favorite wines were the Mango Tango and the Moscato. We tried some red wines like black cherry but I wasn't a fan. Nothing against the winery, I really don't like how red wines from anywhere taste. My bf liked the red wines, though. We bought three bottles of wine to take home, Moscato, Mango Tango and black cherry. We also received some Asiago cheese free with the wine purchase! That was a really nice touch. :) It tastes good on top of crackers...and of course with the wine! The white wines go down smoothly on a hot El Paso day. You could even add fruit in them like mango, peaches, grapes, etc...sort of like a bellini if you will. The customer service was excellent here. Talking to the employee was like catching up with an old friend. She was super kind and helpful. She knew a lot about the wines and the area. She told us she grew up nearby. Definitely worth the two-hour drive from El Paso. I would come back in a heartbeat. Guess what? They also sell their wine online! I'd still drive here anyway!

One of our must stops everything we're in town. Love getting a bottle and a cheese plate and enjoying it on the patio. Staff is always amazing.

Daniel is incredible-- make sure to get him for your tasting. He has a genius "secret" concoction he calls "The Atitude Adjustment" which is not only tasty but the most bang for your buck when you grab a glass on the patio. The establishment itself has fantastic wines and respectably unique options like a spicy pepper wine and mango white. You can't miss this place. Or letting Daniel adjust your attitude.

The wines were awesome, but Lindsey was what made it the bombdiggity. She was knowledgeable, witty, and engaging. The best wines are, in order: absolution (omfg) and dirty. Go here, you won't be disappointed (but stay away from the fahking hot salsas)...

    Wine tasting yum!

I'm updating this because I re-read what I wrote and it doesn't properly convey how awesome this business is. Highly recommend a visit. Welcoming and unique. I have visited multiple times from Texas over the past year and COVID has impacted this business (obviously) but they continue to rise to the occasion! Unique gifts, quality wine & cheese pairings, other nifty gifts. I've been a couple of times and they were open for purchases, but closed for wine tastings. FINALLY- we popped in to just grab a bottle of wine and the girl behind the counter lightly mentions they are allowed to do wine tastings again! So, naturally, I said yes. Coldest wine tasting I've ever participated in since we had to stay outside on the patio, BUT well worth it! I'd like to mention this was about 20 minutes before they closed down, I made zero mention of tastings, and was ready to make a purchase and leave. Due to the phenomenal service from both, Lily and Jessica, we were able to successfully participate in a wine tasting and had a great experience. We'll be coming back soon!!

Nice little tasting room but they are grossly understaffed which took away from any customer service that could have been offered to sell the actual wine. The gift/cheese shop has some nice products from New Mexico. The green Chile wine was enjoyed by my party but after all the hassle to get any service or even a pour let alone any information or history on the wine we ended up paying for our gift items without purchasing any wine

Great wine tasting experience! The tasting includes your choice of 3 different wines and finished with their famous green or red Chile wine. So technically 4 tastings total. I recommend the green Chile over the red. It tastes like a sweet white with a kick of green chile. In times of COVID-19 they have front patio seating with heat lamps near by, but still recommend dressing warm to sit outside this time of year! They also have various cheese/meat/salsa platters to pair with the wine!

The manager incorrectly stated that service dogs must wear a vest to be recognized as service animals and demanded that we provide a "service animal certificate." We were then told that such certificates were not valid and that service animals must be registered in New Mexico before being allowed into the restaurant. None of these statements are consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Service dogs are not required to wear vests, carry certificates, or be registered with any state in order to access public accommodations. It is deeply concerning that a manager responsible for serving the public appears to have such a poor understanding of federal disability law. The experience was embarrassing, discriminatory, and completely unnecessary. I have traveled extensively throughout the United States with my service dogs and have never been treated this way. I strongly encourage management to educate staff on ADA requirements before another customer is subjected to the same treatment. Until then, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone who relies on a service animal.

But there was one thing I had never done, and that's McGinn's PistachioLand. Now imagine that you've responsibly booked a farm tour of McGinn's six months in advance and driven over 2,000 miles to complete this bucket list goal. You've even signed the waiver they texted you 45 minutes before lining up for the first tour of the day. You're ready for a unique adventure. And then, 15 minutes before you're ready to take the tour, McGinn's notifies you that the tour has been cancelled because tour guide Garret is unavailable. Really? This is allowed? If you live down the street from PistachioLand, this isn't a big deal. Take the tour some other day. But if you've driven all the way across the country for this, only to receive news of a cancellation with 15 minutes notice, I cannot imagine that the risk of visiting PistachioLand is worth it. Their farm store is neat. Pictures next to the gimmicky giant pistachio are cool. But the highlight of your visit would certainly be a tour of the actual pistachio groves. And when they're allowed to unabashedly cancel on you with essentially no notice after spending a great deal of money and effort to get there, this particular point of interest is just not worth visiting.

All I really got out of it was the wonderment why the hell Re they trying to grow pistachios and grapes in the middle of the desert? Neither are native plants. It's a hostile environment for both plants. Each grape vine needs 40 gallons of water per week to survive. The pistachio trees have to be grafted to survive. I guess the only good thing is they will never become invasive because they would not survive on their own in this environment.
