Pistachios
Karyn B.

This place is a delicious pistachio haven. They have free samples of many pistachio flavors from sweet to spicy: some flavors are: maple & brown sugar, dill pickle, spicy dill pickle, bourbon vanilla, red chili, green chili, etc. There are tons of pistachio flavors to try. In addition, there is free wine to taste, including a pistachio flavor, fudge samples, and chocolate samples including a prickly pear chocolate. I highly recommend you visit here!

Pistachio Land is a great tourist attraction that has a great selection of wines they make there. The staff was amazing when we did the wine tasting. I enjoyed the pistachio delight that I bought the bottle there. All bottles there are $18 but they do have it online for $20. They do offer tours there. They have a pistachio tasting section so you could try the different flavors before purchasing them. We loved the sour cream and onion and lemon lime options. I bought those as well as the regular pistachios. They had pistachio fudge and tons of themed merchandise. Great place!

Cool stop if your driving through New Mexico near White Sands National Park. This is located on a pistachio farm and they offer paid tours on a tram. The store is large and has a lot of items. There are samples of every flavor of pistachio which is nice and even fudge too. They even have homemade ice cream and I opted for their pistachio taco. It was huge and I couldn't finish it. I really wanted to have the shake too but couldn't do it.

When you are driving down the highway and see the world's largest pistachio, you have to stop. We arrived just as a farm tour was starting. $5 per head (2026 rates). Takes about 20 minutes. You get a tour of the pistachio orchard and the grape arbor. Yes - they also make wine here. All I really got out of it was the wonderment why the hell Re they trying to grow pistachios and grapes in the middle of the desert? Neither are native plants. It's a hostile environment for both plants. Each grape vine needs 40 gallons of water per week to survive. The pistachio trees have to be grafted to survive. I guess the only good thing is they will never become invasive because they would not survive on their own in this environment.

PistachioLand is great fun! Located just a bit further north than its sister shop also in Alamogordo, NM, this farm/vineyard/shop is now my hands-down favorite of all the pistachio farms. SIDE NOTE So everyone on Yelp gets this location and the aforementioned sister shop mixed up. The sister shop is at 37 US-82, Alamogordo, NM 88310 and it has the giant ALAMOGORDO letters out front. This has the cooler giant pistachio. Visit both even if just for the Americana vibes & Instagram-worthy photos. My favorite was picking out yummy treats for friends and family. Samples of many items were available. You can't miss the GIANT pistachio out front. The vineyard is also visible from the highway. For restrooms, there are Porta potties near the back parking lot and flush restrooms inside for disabled persons. The ice cream shop is outside beyond the store. My oldest enjoyed chocolate. My youngest loved her peppermint bark. Each single scoop cups costed $4.94. Pup cups are free upon request. TIPS + dogs are allowed inside + pistachio ice cream! + tours are also available Peace, love & PISTACHIOS!

Fun! We enjoyed a few hours here, perusing the store, tasting wines, sampling lots of pistachios! and riding on the tour of the pistachio fields ($5). We learned a lot we didn't know about pistachios, and overall found our time there worth the drive. I would recommend seeing the White Sands area as well while you're going that way, which makes for a great day trip from Las Cruces. We walked out with a variety of pistachios, and even a fun coloring book. Be sure to try the ice cream!

Signed Ozzy memorabilia from his stop here. They still produce the pistachio flavor Kelly Osborne created.

Giant Pistachio roadside attraction that is also so much more. It's a bit like the Mystery Spot or Pea Soup Andersons in California, we kept seeing signs for this stop along the freeway and by the time we actually drove by the giant pistachio it felt like we had to stop. They have a surprising amount of PistachioLand merchandise and also offer farm tours and goods and foods from other parts of New Mexico. It's also surprisingly large inside so it may turn a quick stop into something longer. -Large amount of shelled and unshelled pistachios for sale in a variety of flavors. They have free self-serve samples of all the flavors and some of them were unique like green chili, spicy ranch, and spicy dill. -Ozzy was here as part of the Ozzy and Jack world tour and invented his own flavor "Ozzy's Nuts". Staff said it didn't taste good so it's not for sale, the flavor Kelly invented is still for sale.

If you are able to, I'd try to figure out how to get here when they first open to avoid large crowds. This is a popular tourist spot to visit and it will fill up rather quickly. We had arrived just after opening and thankfully grabbed a parking spot right in front. They had a large selection of nuts, salsas, hot sauces, fudge, and more along with lots of tourist type items like key chains, magnets, clothing, and even some alien themed goods. Some of the prices were a little high and others were decent; it is about what you would expect from a high traffic spot like this. In the store you can find a spot where you can sample a variety of pistachio flavors before you try them. It was kind of funny seeing the favorites and the flavors people seem to avoid based on how full/empty the tubes were. They also give samples of the fudge & some flavored dips, plus if you are of age you can sample wine as well. I was really hoping to grab some of their ice cream, but we were a bit too early as the ice cream parlor doesn't open until 10am but the store is open at 9am. We had a schedule to keep on our trip, so we couldn't stay later. We didn't take the tour so I can't comment on that. There are bathrooms inside that were clean when we went in.

The best day of my life. I love this place. Dog friendly they can go inside. Must try the pistachio ice cream. Thank you!

Pistachio land is a must visit, one of the best road stops in southern New Mexico. They have all kinds of goodies, including some of the best ice cream around. They serve bluebell, but they also have a few flavors that are their own in house made. I really loved the pineapple one, but of course the pistachio is also very good. They have a huge selection of different treats, including really good pistachio brittle. Additionally, of course they have the giant pistachio outside that you just have to take a picture with. This is one of those little road side attractions that is always worth a stop.

We were on a State Park tagging road trip from California to Mississippi and saw this advertised on billboards. It's a lot of fun. Tons of flavors of nuts as well as Pistachio Milkshakes and Ice Cream Tacos.

Quite gimmicky, but had to stop by anyway. They have many free pistachio samples available (enjoyed the spicy ranch and honey flavored ones). On my way out, I saw many people lined up for the free wine samples, but decided to pass. Waited in the long, but quickly-moving line for ice cream. Got a scoop of pistachio ice cream, which had a decent amount of pistachio halves. They say it's made in-house, and it's definitely artificially flavored and artificially colored. I an certain of the latter, since my messy self dripped some on my shirt, and attempting to wash it out resulted in a deep yellow stain :"( Didn't take a tour, but can book via Viator, or in-person at the checkout counter. Overall, worth a stop! The big pistachio is kinda fun to take a pic with. Definitely a great marketing strategy on their behalf.

All souvenir shops are overpriced and $5 for a single chocolate covered pecan is atrocious. The big pistachio is gimmicky too but there are some interesting souvenirs here if you look closely. Some interesting goods include roadkill jerky, hatch chile hot sauces, prickly pear candies and different flavored pistachios grown straight from the farm. They have wine tastings which I didn't get to try and I was kinda annoyed because I left my wallet at the airbnb I was staying at and they refused me a small sample of wine even though I'm clearly of age. But what can you expect in the middle of nowhere in New Mexico. At least the bathrooms were decently clean and the place can double as a rest stop if you're on the move. The funny part is that my partner and I were at checkout and the girl at the counter gave us the military discount because our family (who are military) was on the premises. Our family came in anyway after realizing but it was funny how we got the discount but not the tiny samples of wine. I'm not complaining but make it make sense.

Came back another time to do the wine tasting and it was amazing. The pistachio one and the pomegranate ones were the best. 100% worth it.

They allowed us to sample their wines, which was a great way to explore the different varieties and find something we enjoyed. We ended up purchasing the Pistachio Rosé, which was a unique find. I liked that they offered something a little different from traditional wines, with a hint of pistachio flavor. It was a fun bottle to bring home as a reminder of our visit. They also had a selection of flavored oils and balsamic vinegars, and we were able to sample most of them before deciding on our favorites. We settled on the strawberry balsamic, along with the garlic and basil options. Being able to taste the different flavors made the experience more enjoyable and helped us choose products we actually wanted to take home. Overall, this was a memorable stop on our road trip. Between the wine tasting and the variety of oils and vinegars to sample, it was a unique experience that stood out among our travels. I'd recommend stopping by if you're in the area and enjoy discovering different wines and specialty food products.

Heart of the Desert Pistachios & Wine - Came for Pistachios, Left with Wine…read more We stopped here with a simple mission: grab a few bags of pistachios as gifts for friends back home. Easy, right? Well... not quite. The store itself is quaint and charming, filled with all kinds of temptations. Pistachios in every form, chocolates, wines, and gift options that make you rethink your original plan. You can taste a little of everything, which is both delightful and dangerous. Then we stepped out onto the patio with our pistachio ice cream, and wow... completely unexpected. The space is gorgeous. Calm, open, and the kind of place that makes you slow down without even trying. Honestly, if I lived nearby, I'd be planning celebrations here without a second thought. Somewhere between the views and the tasting, I tried their pistachio rosé. And yes, I had the same reaction, "wait... what?" But it worked. Different, pleasant, and surprisingly good. Good enough that I completely abandoned my pistachio gift plan and walked out with several bottles instead. A much more unique surprise. The staff were warm and welcoming, adding to the whole experience. No rush, no pressure, just genuine friendliness. We didn't have as much time as I would have liked, and that's probably the only downside. This is the kind of place where you want to linger longer, taste more, and just enjoy the moment. Came for pistachios. Left with wine and zero regrets.

This is a real piece of El Paso's history, El Paso's true history. Great for adults and kids alike. Bowen Ranch is still owned by the Bowen family, but you'll find a wonderful family that runs the ranch. Visiting this for a small, private event actually gave me a real feel for what Bowen Ranch does. The family has plans to bring the ranch back to all its glory, but I have to say... they've kept it in really good shape. One thing that really impressed me was the temperament of the animals on the ranch at the Headquarters. There wasn't a mean bone in a single one of them. All of them are people friendly and will shuffle up to you to be pet if you put your hand out. Now, I wouldn't recommend doing that with the cattle because you might spook them, but all of the horses and even the goat were super sweet. The property is huge and you get some gorgeous views of the sunset while out there. There not open to the public on day to day, but they have some small events and a few opportunities where you can watch them roping cattle and performing other essential duties. But Bowen Ranch is open to small events, you just have to ask.
