I think I have the same playlist on Spotify. The absolute game changer though was the FISH & CHIPS. OMG.. I didn't realize how effin delicious this could be without being too greasy! . The haddock was perfect. The chips were perfect. The mushy peas were perfect. This has been, so far, the BEST fish & chips is all of the UK. And I love F&Cs.. and I'm A foodie.. so that's saying a lot. I think the only possible thing that can compete with TSS F&Cs are the Scottish Cod Fish & Chips at this same restaurant. And yeeeesssss, we will be back!

We got there a few hours before closing time and couldn't get a table right away - we were told to come back in an hour but we asked if it would still be possible to get their fish & chips. They asked how many of us would want it and all 5 of us did. Ha! Luckily, they were able to hold enough for us to come back once a table was open. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside. The chips were tasty and the mushy peas were actually good which I wasn't expecting! I'd travel all the way back to England just for this meal at the Scallop Shell.

This is my second time here. We ate here the first time we visited Bristol and had to come back…read morethis time around. Probably our favorite fish and chips pub in all of Bristol. I love the decor- very mythical fishermen with posters for movies and wanted signs. They have an extensive menu, including alcohol and their cider comes in 500ml bottles. I've been told it's quite expensive in local standards but for the atmosphere it's worth it. I'd like to give a shoutout to one of the chefs. We had shown up here and the hostess had said they were not taking any one without a reservation. But there were open tables. Disappointed, we walked out. Standing in front of the restaurant, trying to figure out what to do, the cook comes out and says they will make room for us. Absolutely the sweetest. We were so stoked to eat at this place again. He even brought out tasty food out to us himself!

The local chippy may have won some awards, but the takeaway vibe isn't so enticing. So when you want a bit more of a dining experience this is a modest cafe style setting that's nicely decorated in the centre of town. We parked in the back streets on a meter. My haddock and chips and Sam's cod and chips were freshly made and really good. Our waitrees gave us friendly service and was attentive. We went in the early evening in early Jan and it was pretty empty.

Atlantic Fish Bar was recommended to us by my brother-in-law, and it was well worth the visit…read more It's slightly out of the way, as it's not on the waterfront - BUT, you do get to see a little bit more of Weston-Super-Mare and appreciate how quaint it is. We had a cod and chips (yes, I know it's not eco-friendly, but how can I do a proper comparison against other fish and chip shops? I would have to go back round them all again, eating something else... although, that sounds rather appealing now!) and a grilled mackerel bap (taking the recommended eco-friendly option... so it was balanced, sort of...). Anyways, both were really good - the cod had an extremely crispy and light batter, which I was impressed with. However, the winning dish for us was the mackerel bap - we don't eat much mackerel at home, but will be trying it more often now. Have it grilled with horse radish or tartare sauce - it's really great (we even ordered one to take away for the rest of the family!). As further evidence of how good the food is, we had just eaten a piece of haddock from one of the fish and chip shops on the waterfront (we were on a fish and chips mission) - and still managed to clear our plates! Hehe... Really enjoyed it and would go back next time we are in Weston-Super-Mare.
