The kayak portion was great; the hike wasn't as bad as what was warned- yes, it was muddy and there were streams to cross, but it was fairly flat and the walking stick was helpful. Your feet will be fully submerged and we wore hiking boots and sneakers, so our socks were squishing. You need to bring your own water and food as they do not provide any.

Since there were an odd number of us, she gave us her single kayak so I was able to use that on the way out and then switched with my brother on the way back. It was really nice to basically have that private tour! Unfortunately because of the rain and rising waters, we weren't able to do the hike & waterfall portion of the trip but the kayaking along the river was really nice and enjoyable. Mikayla did take us out of the kayaks and show us some of the surrounding area and shared with us information about the different plants. It was fun! We only got a downpour on the way back for the marina for about 10min but that was part of the experience! We didn't eat breakfast before and do actually the length of time worked well for us. We left around 7:30am ish and made it back around 9;30am. The company refunded us 50% since weather made the hike portion impossible. Totally recommend bringing food though if you do the full thing:) and bring shoes good for hiking. Mikayla was friendly and helped get my two siblings (who hadn't kayaked before) adjusted and paddling in a straight line rather than zigzagging across. She was a great guide and would definitely recommend her! We learned a lot. And she gave us more recommendations around the island for the rest of our trip.

He picked us up at our hotel in a comfortable van and off we went towards the Napoli Coast, and into Weilea Canyon. Jeremiah's knowledge of all things Kauai really made the trip. But what sets him apart from other tours we have taken was his knowledge of weather conditions and how they would effect our visit. Kauai in December has very unpredictable weather patterns. Once Jeremiah realized our original plan would be shrouded in fog, he quickly suggested two alternatives and away we went. The hike he took us on was breathtaking. No other folks around. His patience with my slow pace never ended. He made the 3 hour hike pass quickly as he showed is his deep knowledge of the native plants, history of the area and suggested best ways to tackle the rugged terrain. He even knew enough to have us pre-order our yummy lunch at the Koke Lodge so we would not have a long wait after our hike. I highly recommend this comapny.

He taught us about the weather/water conditions and about the plants we encounter on our hike. He even helped us find some amazing guavas on the way back and opened up a fresh coconut for us when we finished. The hike we picked was challenging and so much fun! The felt-bottom shoes (provided by Chris) made a huge difference; regular hiking boots or keens sandals would have taken us much longer to get through the mud without slipping and wouldn't really workout for the creek crossings.

You will see waterfalls, caves that the boat actually can go in, beautiful isolated beaches/sanctuaries, dolphins, turtles and you get to snorkel at a reef with lots of reef fish to see. Aside from all the beautiful picture taking and video recording you get from this; a few words need to be said for the crew. We were luckily to have captain Abraham, and crew members Brent and Ileonani. They were all extremely professional, fun, engaging and hospitable. They all told us different bits of history and traditions of the island. This experience was definitely worth the expense.
