The service almost always was super attentive and always made sure we were taken care of. 10/10 recommend the millionaire bars they were almost always delicious and moist I also think it might depend on the baker whose baking too which batch and cutting the bars and desserts because somedays the pieces are different or taste just a little bit better but regardless always tasty! However the only one we did not like surprisingly was the carrot cake. It was just weirdly dense not cakie and like juicy its a bit weird to explain but just wasnt our favorite. Everything else though awesome and the food is just superb! I think my favorite was the vegan fry or haggis toastie if you like a bit of sweet and salty combo! If you go on the weekends however I do recommend having a booking or you most likely wont get in till later in the day. I'll miss you hideaway the best food!

Having had brunch here previously, heading here for lunch was something I was excited about. It was very busy this time round so service was understandably a little slower. We did have a short wait for a table but it really wasn't long till we were seated considering it was peak lunching hour. Oh my word. Sandwich heaven. I had the bacon and mozzarella baguette with hot salsa and guacamole and it was absolutely delicious. Lots of cheese, lots of bacon, lots of yum. The Hideaway is just the perfect spot for tea and cake, I definitely want to sample their baked goods soon. Very, very soon!

It is sparsely decorated but the theme seems to be related to bicycles. We stopped in for midday iced lattes and a snack. The lattes were good and I appreciate their to go cups and straws are all paper based. The granola bar we grabbed did not impress me at face value but wow was it delicious. It's not on the main road, but off through a covered alley. You'll see their sign if you look. I ordered the full breakfast consisting of a fried egg, pork sausage link, uncured bacon, fried breaded sausage patty, sourdough bread, potato scone, haggis and blood sausage fried crispy, and baked beans. I'd never tried haggis or blood sausage, but I wanted to say I'd at least tried it. I was shocked to find I really liked both. Not gamey at all. They tasted like well seasoned sausages. Don't fear the haggis! I also had a mimosa and a latte to wrap up the meal. Totally unhealthy, but totally delicious. Service was also great. Slow but steady, and very attentive. If I make it back to Edinburgh, I'll definitely eat at Scran again.

The name kinda gives you a clue as what to look for and sure enough there is a big red barn - funny that! But the wee cafe inside said barn is really well done, light and airy in pale blues, natural wood and lots of white. The staff were quick, pleasant and chatty when we initiated conversation. I prefer it that way, I hate having to endure small talk when the kids are causing havoc and I'm in serious danger of D&T's from caffeine deprivation. They get it just right in here and lots of kudos for that. Everybody was delighted with their cake and drink, especially smudge who went all out with a hot chocolate and a chocolate brownie. She was particularly fun in the car on the way home with all that sugar coursing through her system.
