The food was good, but the ambience was ruined by the constant whistling by a couple of the employees. To be honest, I won't be back and this is the strangest review I've ever written about a restaurant because I have never encountered this kind of annoyance in a restaurant before. Almost immediately after being seated, I heard someone whistling. I thought it was a rude customer at first. Then I noticed one, and later two employees just whistling loudly while they worked and moved throughout the small restaurant the entire time we were there. When I go out to eat it is to enjoy a good meal and relax with good conversation. I found the whistling to be loud, annoying, and inconsiderate of the patrons trying to enjoy their meals. The response I got from the manager was that employee whistling is a regular occurance and he thinks the customers enjoy it. Maybe they are too polite to complain. Or maybe it's just me. read more

The food is always good. Everyone has a favorite Mexican restaurant and this is ours. Their chicken is the best and rice is my favorite.

Absolutely the worst owner of a business I have ever encountered. To be in customer service, he has the worst case of little man's syndrome I've ever had the privilege of speaking with. Well... he spoke, wouldn't let me speak, and then began to insult me because I was frustrated at the way he spoke to my husband on the phone. He needs to learn that when working in customer service, you treat your customers with respect and you take their order. His big issues: 1. My husband tried to order a corn tortilla with hamburger meat, tomatoes & sour cream. He told my husband to "Go up the road for street tacos." 2. My husband tried to order a simple ACP. They have it listed on the menu under a different name with vegetables. My husband tries to tell him to order that and take the vegetables off. He replies, "We don't do ACP." Absolutely disgusting. My husband and I have been patrons at this restaurant for many years. All the times we have been there, we have always had great experiences with the servers, but I've never seen him, the "owner". We spend approximately $60 in there every single time we order or eat there. Even though it's a shit hole of a restaurant, we've always overlooked that. I'm always about supporting small businesses, but no one should give that man another dime. If he treats his customers that way, I can only imagine how he treats his employees. read more

Food is always great and the margaritas never fail . They move you along very quickly but that's because everyone wants to eat there !

I have now been to NWJ twice. The first time was a bit better than the second, but good none the less. They start you off with chips salsa and bean dip (yum). The cheese dip is like any ole place, good! I got the chicken flautas the first time and the second time I ordered that and was given half beef half chicken. Though it is not what I ordered, it was good nonetheless. They have an awesome margarita special on Saturdays too! The service my family received our first visit was top tier. Everyone was so kind. The second time, I definitely felt like an inconvenience to the lady helping us. It is a small place, and a little loud because of this. We will go back because China Grove doesn't have much to offer as far as Mexican food! (And it really was tasty) read more

Everytime I've come before they have allowed me to get a meal with the not spicy chicken and cheese and today according to our waitress she isn't allowed to order that because she is family. So I've come here on my short lunch break and not able to have lunch. read more

Unable to accommodate a small stroller, they were not busy when we were seated. This was a good place but not anymore. Been there multiple time before with the same stroller. The stroller was the same size as there high chair also no signs posted. Don't bring family here. read more

I've been here a few times with no issues. I ordered last night, the food tasted like someone rung out a soapy rag on the food. The soapy taste was not good. Finally! We finally stopped in to try this place. I drive by it all the time and it is always crowded no matter when you go by. We were greeted and seated by a nice lady who may be the owner or co owner, she also rang us up when we left. I was so excited that they bring you a cheese dip to the table as complimentary. I always order that at Mexican places but you dont have to here, it comes with the salsa and chips. It was so good I just didnt care much for the thick chips they had. I like a thinner and lighter chip. They have a huge menu and being use to always getting the same thing at the place I normally go to, I settled upon something totally different, the shrimp burrito. My dish didnt come with any sides so we ordered some beans and rice to try because I really love refried beans and rice at Mexican place. Both of theirs were delicious and did not disappoint! Our food came out in a decent amount of time and I have to say with no hesitation...IT WAS DELICIOUS! One of my fears is ordering something with shrimp at a restaurant and it has those teeny tiny canned shrimp in it but this was big beautiful grilled shrimpies! It was delicious! It is now my new favorite mexican dish and I will be back soon to get it again! read more

Upon arrival we completely missed the sign that says "wait to be seated" because we were talking. The server at a time an older man shouted to us to wait in a rude manner. We said we apologized for it but he kept going on how the sign was too big to be missed and this and that. The restaurant was empty! For him to make a big deal of it. Currently sitting here in the restaurant enjoying carnitas. Good flavor and a good portion. My issue is everyone's rice and beans were cold. By the time our waitress returned to the table it was too late for a correction. You are a restaurant, your food should NEVER BE COLD when served.The waitress rarely checked in leaving us wishing that we had the other waitress that was full of energy and attentive. Boss/Manager "Jose" was super unprofessional by not greeting customers. As soon as I walked in the restaurant he turned away and started working on my pick up order. He didn't even bother to ask what the order was, he just automatically assumed because a server asked if I had a call in order. He said my total my $15.89 not explaining why when he told me on the phone that the total was $11 and some change. I paid and he continued working without saying anything to me. This was an incredible experience! We walked in, we were greeted immediately and told where we could sit. Before we could even fully sit down, our server (I forgot his name, sorry!) brought us 2 orders of chips, salsa and cheesy bean dip (if you don't think you'll like it.. You will lol). Their menu had plenty of options and something for everybody. My wife got the Mexicano fajitas - came out sizzling and enormous portions. Older son (8) got the kids smothered burrito with rice and beans - it was delicious and not a scrap was left. Younger son (5) got the kids quesadilla with rice and fries - full Tortilla folded, taste was great and left him full. I got the tacos jalisco - 3 tacos with steak and chorizo, served with limes and a special salsa. Honestly, some of the best tacos from a restaurant I've ever had! Overall, incredible experience! First time here... read the reviews. It was as good as people say. Went avoiding race traffic. Friendly servers, and the place was packed out when we were leaving. Guessing it was people coming after the race. $3.25 margaritas Sunday Tacos were great, steak and chorizo combo. San Jose shrimp enchiladas were really good, black beans and refried beans were good too. When I'm in the area again, we'll definitely stop. read more

Third time going in. Waitress didn't even greet us just asked what we were drinking. We ordered our food, she brought it over and left. Never gave us plates or napkins, she never came back to check on us or ask how it was. Tried handing us the bill I'm like NO, two more drinks and a side of sour cream that I asked for and never received the first time.
