Cons: - My dog left here with diarrhea... not the fault of the kennel perhaps, but kennels usually never stress her out. - The buildings are not cooled in the summer (probably my biggest con). - After a four night stay, my dog need a bath because of a urine smell.... just not something I want to look forward to each time I pick her up. She's a mixed breed, but we were told her mama was a Rottweiler. Based on her behavior, I suspect her daddy was a chihuahua. Basically, she's a nervous wreck who lashes out when she's anxious. She has a reputation that she's difficult and I suspect there's a hint of apprehension among the staff when she's on the calendar. However, during our last visit, Ashley made an extra effort to make Phoebe fell comfortable, and it worked. She's never been so calm. It's hard to believe she's the same dog. Where is this rambling review going? Simply put, the staff at Tennessee Animal Hospital will love your pet and treat them as if they were their own, even if your furry family member is a handful.

The techs are also sweet and very caring towards our dog. All staff has been nothing but friendly, helpful, and thorough when it comes to the health and well-being of our dog. It is easy to get an appointment here or at their other location and at Rover the Rhine, they also have weekend hours. The only downside we've run into (and hence 4 and not 5 stars) is that our dog has gotten older and to get her medication anywhere outside of their preferred (usually more pricey) pharmacy is impossible. You can get a written Rx but no online pet pharmacy will take it because it's not faxed from the office (note: you can mail it in but if the script isn't given weeks in advance you run the risk of your dog going without medication for some time). They also refuse to call in the Rx so it's slightly annoying. Thus, if you are one who likes price shopping for your pet's medications, taking your pet here for care is not an option if you choose to use their vet services. It's really unfortunate because we love going here but since we suspect our pet will need more meds as she gets older, we might have to reconsider our options.

Cost of services is consistent with industry standards and they take the appropriate safety precautions such as performing bloodwork to ensure your pet is safe to undergo anesthesia. That option isn't always provided at all clinics which is very concerning. I would recommend them to others and plan to have them continue to provide excellent care to my pup in the future!

A few of the caretakers came to our home a week or so prior to our trip to see our pet care routine, ask questions, etc. During our trip, we received text message updates when they arrived and left, often with pictures of our boys. The only hiccup we had was noticing an interior door left open after they left. We let them know and they returned quickly to close it up before our boys got into something they shouldn't have. They have a great online portal for seeing and paying your bill, adding pictures/information about your home and pets. We will definitely continue to use Stay At Home Pet Services.

On several occasions when they would not eat, Patty would even call to ask permission to switch their food brand to spark their appetite or to add green beans. Then, when Patty got sick, they hired from outside. After Patty's passing, things seemed to change. My "warm fuzzies" disappeared. Things were "adequate". During our last visit, our dogs were to share an enclosure, as they have some separation anxiety when left. Much to my surprise, when we returned I was informed they were separated for their entire stay. I was told they had to be separated because of fighting. These dogs live together! I expressed my displeasure without raising my voice or using profanity, and was never given an explanation of why I was not called and that was "unacceptable". I was mad! I was then told if I didn't like they way they chose to handle the situation, "not to come back". We now have pet care in our home and know exactly who is caring for our dogs. She said she has been very happy with their service over the years. We were very happy today with the friendliness of the staff as well as the veterinarian. She was kind and knowledgable, and we felt that she enjoys what she does, loves and understands animals, and was happy we chose their clinic.
