I have been a happy customer at Nena's store over a decade now. The attention to detail is exceptional, it fits perfectly great almost every time. Once a while, it does require additional adjustments and I'm always pleased by her professionalism. I had two dresses altered last month. Both required intensive labor work. I highly do not recommend for alterations. I went to have alterations on a gown and had a terrible experience. The first time I went the alterations were not done well. The second time I went the owner Nena helped me and I explained what was wrong. She said she would fix it and since I was highly overcharged there would be no charge. She asked if I could come back in 2 weeks( which seemed like a long time).I went back and it was still wrong. I was so upset. I took the gown to our wonderful cleaners Tres Bon Dry Cleaners 1085 Willis Avenue Albertson, NY, and Vicki who is a wonderful tailor fixed it for me at a fraction of the price. read more

Never in my life have I been spoken to the way the owner of this place spoke to me. I went to pick up my items five days after my scheduled pick up date and 2 out of 4 items were not complete. I told her I would come back the next day to pick them up. After inspecting the items the owner said she does not want me to come back because I'm too demanding. I didn't realize demanding meant having the items completed at time of pick up. I didn't argue with her, I didn't say a word even though the stitching was very sloppy. If you would like your mood and items ruined then this is your place. I'm completely shocked! Would give it zero stars if I could. I should've read the reviews prior to going to her. read more

5 STARS GIVEN BUT ONLY 4 showed up- I would give 10 if that was an option! ********** I fell in love with a dress for my daughters wedding but it had many fit challenges and I really wasn't sure if it could be altered because of them. I was referred to NK Studio by the associate at L&T in Garden City who helped me. I brought the dress in to make sure that all the fit issues could be addressed otherwise it would have to be returned. Nena assured me that she could make everything fit perfectly...and she did! Well we walked in with arms filled with fine men's sport jackets and pants! We we were not greeted and when we said HELLO the response was ....wait a minute! She appeared and told us there was a long wait of 2 1/2 weeks because she is very busy... And I told her we could come back in a couple of weeks and she told me it will be the same situation. I went in with a silk Tucker dress that I wanted shortened and hemmed. When I asked her how they would do the "work", in terms of cutting the silk and hemming (by hand or machine fie example). She said defensively we don't tell people how we do our work and "I don't have time to teach you." I said I wasn't looking for an education I just wanted understand how they were going to treat the material and hem the dress and she said "we don't have time for that". I had the impression that she thought I was challenging her and that was coming from her perception of why I was asking the question. I realized quickly that I didn't have the energy, nor did I want to spend the time to try to turn the conversation around for her to understand where I was actually coming from so I just simply left. I just moved to Stamford from New York City and I've had many things altered there and I'm used to the tailor actually asking how would you like the hem for example, couldn't understand how she was interpreting me and and why it was not OK for me to ask questions. I called on Friday for an appointment with Nena, she was very firm that I come in on Monday at 1:30 because she was leaving for NYC at 3:00. I respected her schedule and came in at 1:20, however, the girl she has working there said she just left for the City. We called her on her cell and she said- she was stuck in traffic and didn't know when she will be back, hmm something doesn't add up. Ok so I take a deep breathe and decide I will have the other woman help me with my alterations. I tried on the first pair of pants to be altered and hemmed, 3 times she pinned the hems so they were dragging on the floor, and only repined the back and one side, not the entire hem. Nena is a true professional. It's hard to find a seamstress who does quality work. She can get busy, but that's what happens when you are so good. Better off going to a tailor that wants your business. I have been asking around for a price quote, which many places have been able to provide me with after I've given them the name /style number of the dress and told them exactly what needed to be done. She laughed at me and said she couldn't tell me anything without seeing the dress. I'm not asking for the exact cost, just an estimate! She ended up hanging up on me mid sentence. I have gone to Nena at NK Studio for years and usually she has done excellent work and I liked her! There have been a couple of times, however, when her work was either not what we discussed or done taken short cuts ( I wonder if maybe her assistant did the work those times). I never said anything (it was too late to fix). Her prices used to be reasonable, but they are now high priced. I have made appointments for fittings and she has forgotten. The final straw, was when I had an appointment (day and time) for me to pick up a garment and I made a special trip to the shop. Nena knew I did not need the garment for a while, and told me it was not ready. I suggested that she could have called me to let me know and I would have been happy to accommodate and reschedule. Instead, she started screaming and yelling that she would not make the alterations. I will never return to her studio and she can keep the garment. Keep away. read more
