Habanero Heaven Wings
Ian M.

Stopped by NK Chicago Pizza as part of the RI Food Fights Lord of the Pies pizza challenge. Ordered a sausage pizza to go and had the Habanero Heaven wings while I waited. These wings were some of my favorites that I tried during the RI Food fights Wing Challenge, so I was excited to try them again. They did not disappoint. Very spicy but also had a great flavor. Often times spicy wings sacrifice flavor for heat, but these wings were a perfect marriage of the two. As for the pizza, they were offering their traditional pizza. It was solid but nothing special. I have had their Chicago pizza before and much prefer that to this style. It had a good flavor but the sausage was crumbled bits. I prefer more substantial pieces. The service was fantastic (as it has been every time I have come in.). They have a full menu and serve beer and wine. I will definitely go back to try other flavors of wings and pick up a Chicago style pie in the near future.

Pulling into the lot, it appears to be just like any other small pizza place you find across the state. And the food inside was the same. I came to this place as part of the RI Food Fights event, Lord of the Wings. Inside, the walls have these fantastic colorful murals that reminds the elder millennial in me of Space Jam, but with some other pop culture twists. They do counter service here and have tables so you can sit down. The server was very nice and was attentive during our time there. My friend had already ordered a pizza so I put my wing order in. I got garlic parm this time. The wings were on the smaller side and the skin didn't have a lot of the crisp I look for in a wing. The sauce was nice and they did make sure they wings were evenly covered in sauce, which I appreciated. I had a few slices of my friend's pie and it was a little disappointing. The topping distribution was excellent but I couldn't taste the sauce anywhere. While I loved the amount of pepperoni on the pie, the roni and the kind of cheese they used created a pretty greasy pizza which is not something I prefer. The crust was just...there. Admittedly, it was not the Chicago style pie but the pan pizza so I am curious how their execution of that compares. Overall this place is fine. It has some opportunities for improvement for sure but it's serviceable. If someone invited me here I wouldn't turn them down, but I think I would try the Chicago style pie instead of the pan next time.

In a nondescript strip mall off Post Road in North Kingstown, NK Chicago Pizza has transformed what could have been another forgettable retail space into something unexpectedly vibrant. From the outside, it sits quietly among the usual suburban shopping plaza occupants. Inside, however, it's a different story entirely. The restaurant's personality is immediately announced through a dramatic floor-to-ceiling mural that dominates the wall - a vibrant street art-style piece where Looney Tunes characters mingle with Chicago Bulls imagery. The mural starts above black wainscoting and stretches upward, creating an energetic backdrop for the dining room. Below it, a display shelf shows off trophies and sports memorabilia, adding another layer of character. This isn't just décor - it's a collection that suggests roots in the local community and a genuine connection to Chicago sports culture. The dining room balances industrial and warmth: pendant lights with Edison bulbs illuminate the space from the black ceiling, while teal-blue café chairs add a distinctive pop of color against sturdy butcher block tables. The walls serve as a gallery space, covered in an eclectic mix of superhero artwork and sports memorabilia. A mounted TV broadcasts sports games, while miniature basketball hoops serve as creative table markers. The overall effect is a space that feels both designed and lived-in, where families can feel comfortable, sports fans can catch a game, and comic book enthusiasts can appreciate the artwork. Unfortunately, the food doesn't quite live up to the promise of the atmosphere. NK Chicago Pizza offers "house pan pizzas" and Chicago deep dish style, though neither particularly channels authentic Chicago pizza traditions. The house pan pizza (my choice, as a deep dish is more cheese casserole than pizza) arrives looking impressive enough - a generous spread of pepperoni across a golden-brown surface with appealingly charred edges. But appearances can be deceiving. The sauce is thin and understated, applied with too light a hand to make much of an impression. The cheese is serviceable but unremarkable, melting into a layer that's more greasy than gooey. The pepperoni, while generous, lacks a spicy punch or crispy edges that elevate a good pie to a great one. The crust is the most interesting element - though not consistently so. It has the structure to stay rigid and alternates between satisfyingly chewy and crispy, sometimes in the same bite. These moments of texture are the high points of what is otherwise a middle-of-the-road pie. What we have here is a tale of two experiences: a thoughtfully designed space that successfully creates a unique, welcoming atmosphere, paired with pizza that's adequate - the kind you might get from any average Greek pizza shop in New England. While NK Chicago Pizza has clearly put considerable effort into creating an engaging environment, the food needs more attention to being unique and flavorful to match the promise of its surroundings. If you find yourself in North Kingstown looking for a family-friendly spot to catch a game or enjoy a casual meal, NK Chicago Pizza's atmosphere makes it worth considering. Just adjust your expectations about finding authentic Chicago-style pizza this far from the Midwest. Come for the vibe, stay for the game, and if you're hungry, the pizza will fill you up, even if it doesn't particularly impress.

Steak bomb

Finally visited this place for #rifoodfights #lordofthewing tour. Loved the decor in this place. Staff was very friendly and answered any and all questions. Wings were ok, had the buffaque and just seemed like something was missing. Expected little more heat and a darker color. Still was good. The steak bomb sandwich was really good. Looking forward to going back to try the pizza.

Saw the owners changed and gave them another shot. And while it was edible this time, it was decidedly a average. Not worth another visit, but may be worth it for others.

Terrific pizza.

One of the best pizzas I have had in recent memory. Asked for thin crust and well done and it came out perfectly. New to the area but not new to pizza and this is my new "go to" place.

The bright orange sign is your beacon to delicious pizza! Pull in, find a spot and head inside to a gorgeous cafe-esque pizza shop. A beautiful slice display showcasing 6 different pizzas, and plenty of local options for soda, beer and wine. They make NY style pizza here at Rhody Slice. The staff here are always friendly and efficient. The person helping you is usually the one making it, so it's nice to be able to speak to your pizza maker directly if you have specific needs! We were pretty simple today, half pepperoni and half meatball. I love their crust the most. It has great texture, and it's so tasty. You can really taste the care they put in the dough. They tend to go lighter on the sauce, so keep that in mind if you are a sauce-forward pizza lover. The pepperoni are all beef and the meatballs are clearly homemade and tender. The pizza eats easily, it's so light! Between the two of us, we crushed the whole pie. Another satisfying lunch at Rhody Slice! It's not hard to overlook this place among the many plazas on Post Rd. Blink and you drive past it. So take it from me, keep your eyes peeled for the orange sign because you won't want to miss your turn.

The crust was thin, which I know is typical for gluten free, but mine was a bit burnt around the edges and a little light on sauce and cheese. The flavor itself was ok and it actually reheated well the next day, which I appreciated. My boyfriend ordered the 18" hot honey pizza and said it was solid. Not the best he's ever had, not the worst, just a good, straightforward pizza. It was on the pricier side, especially with the added card and app fees. Overall it was fine, just not a standout first impression. I'm willing to give it another try and hope for a better experience next time.

I think I'm going to add it to my calamari now! The kids chicken cutlet meal with fresh cut fries were amazing! The three of us ate the fries and still took the rest to go. Chicken cutlet was thin, crispy and moist inside. We always get the same pizzas wherever we go. Naturally, it makes comparing different restaurants on a good baseline. We got a large NY style (thin crust) pepperoni with half sausage. I'm not a huge sausage fan but my boys are. However, this crumbled sausage was delicious. The pizza is put into a wood fire pizza oven, crust was perfect; thin and cooked well but not burnt. The undercarriage held its shape with a nice bite and crunch! I had to finish off the meal with a Nutella pizza and I have zero regrets. A thin pizza crust with decadent Nutella spread all over it and sprinkled with crushed hazelnuts ended the meal perfectly. Ambiance and decor is modern and beautiful, family friendly and the staff is fantastic! I can't wait to go back and try other types of pizza. They offer Neapolitan, Grandma's and NY; not to mention other foods as well. Ciao!
