Everyone I've interacted with was very friendly. I was referred here by my eye doctor because there was a concern that I had holes in my retina. Unfortunately, after my first visit to NJ Retina it was confirmed that I do indeed have holes in my retina. Dr. Levenson took great care of me and took the time to answer any questions I had. On my second visit he sealed up the holes in my left eye by shooting a laser at them. I'm due to go back in a week to have my right eye done. Not the most comfortable experience, but I know it's necessary. I'm satisfied with the care I'm getting at NJ Retina

He checked me out, told me everything was OK and said it was not necessary to have a follow-up visit. I appreciate his advice, honesty and professionalism. Later, I had a problem with my eye that caused serious changes in my vision. I requested the first appointment that they had and Dr. Marisa Lau examined me. She was very thorough, professional, encouraging, reassuring, pleasant and gave me good advice. I followed her advice for a couple of months and in time, my eye healed. She did not suggest anything unnecessary, like, Dr. Hahn, but provided the medical evaluation and follow-up that was needed. I think she's great! All of the other employees were positive, too, including the receptionists and medical assistants! Sorry, off-hand, the only other employee's name that I remember was Katherine.

I chose the Teaneck NJ office and was lucky enough to be assigned to Dr. Lee Angioletti . First off the Center is very professional and courteous. From sending me the New Patient forms ahead of my visit to fill out, to the staff at the check in desk. From the 3-4 technicians that saw me, tested me, took scans of my eyes to the final visit with the doctor, just top notch. And as for Dr Angioletti, I could tell from the minute I meant him he was special. From his smart appearance to the calm demeanor in the way he explains everything in layman's terms. He is a special, down to earth, soothing specialist. I have to admit I was getting a bit nervous what with all the tests they were giving me. But his diagnosis based on all of this data was heartily welcomed. I recommend the Retina Center and HIGHLY recommend you try & see him. I'm the type that goes to his docs regularly and once I find one I really like, stay with them. ( dentist: 27 years; Internist:30 years; ophthalmologist: 25 years.) Hoping I don't need further services from the Center, but if i do, he's my go to !

A friend of mine used to go to an ophthalmologist who had offices New York, the Bronx, and Westchester County. He was well-known for his expertise. Unfortunately, he passed away recently. My friend and his wife wanted a very specialized, highly trained ophthalmologist. Dr. Engelbert has a VERY impressive résumé and CA. His appointment was at 11:30 am; he was Called into exam room about 11:35 am. For years, driving him to his appointments, because of the treatment and dilations, that was fast! Their promptness and ability to schedule patients properly, that didn't waste their time impressed me. He was in with the doctor for about an hour, maybe a little longer. It takes a few minutes for the eyes to dilate; and then the treatments begin. When he was done, he was happy with the treatment. They take a variety of medical coverage plans; inquire first to make sure yours is one of them. The office clean, well organized, and there is breathing room. In the Main lobby is a small Coffee/Sandwich Shop - Eddies II. To pass the time and get something to eat while he was in the treatment room. There's sufficient parking and handicap spots near the front door. It's easy to get on and off Route 87.

Retina Center does leave a lot to be desired in terms of scheduling and waiting room process. That…read morebeing said, what it lacks in good administration, it does make up for in terms of quality care, which I suppose is really the most important thing. My husband suffered a detached retina out of nowhere and we were both incredibly panicked and scared. We saw Dr. Ramani and he was terrific. The procedure to reattach the retina was no picnic but he took the time to walk us through everything and was kind and attentive. His bedside manner really is top notch and when all was said and done, my husband's retina was reattached without incident and his vision saved. So what I subtract in stars based on other factors (see below), I give back based entirely on Dr. Ramani. He truly is lovely. That said, by the second appointment we realized that the wait time at their offices is pretty considerable. Bloomfield is the worst (expect to wait 2 hours before your actual appointment so bring a book), Teaneck is second worst. Wayne was probably the fastest. Bloomfield does feel a bit like a DMV. Your appointment time isn't really the actual time. It's more like a first come first serve situation. You arrive, get checked in. Then a tech calls you for phase 1. You move to another waiting room. Then round 2 with a different tech. You go to waiting room 2. By the third round, you see the doctor. Their billing staff are pretty aggressive, which I didn't love. They start to harass for payment within a week or so and called and texted at least 10 times before appointments. I get it, you have to run a business but it hasn't been even 30 days, they need to calm down a little. So overall, if you are looking for a flawless and stress free experience, no, you won't find that here. BUT you will get quality care and you are in good hands, which I believe is the most important thing. We really did love Dr. Ramani and I consider him to be an asset to the medical profession. Just be prepared to wait.
