We contracted with NJ Reliable in October 2021 to increase the size of our kitchen, half bath, laundry room and to add an addition of a bedroom and full bath. The current deck would need to be replaced.
In the beginning, the General Contractor seemed to be fairly good. It wasn't until the actual work started. I can count the days he was on sight on one hand. The crew did not have a schedule and would show up only 1-2 days a week. This same crew did framing, roofing and deck. Should have been our first sign that things weren't going to move forward smoothy.
At the very start of the project, crew removed the stove, washer and dryer when it was totally unnecessary at this point. We were without those appliances for six months. As we found out later, the stove and washer were reused at another job site. We get into the winter months and we have no protection from the elements as they have blown out the back of the house and the windows are on back order for four months. The window openings were covered with plastic and plastic was hung between the old and now the extended kitchen. Remember I did say it was winter. Did I forget to mention we had NO HEAT. A pipe froze and broke due to the outside 22 degree temperatures. Project Management was non- existent.
You probably have a fairly good picture of our disaster so I'll make the rest short.
The roof they put on had to be replaced as it was done incorrectly and there were holes from the scaffolding, the soffit was done incorrectly, siding had to be replaced and the deck which was only framed (thank goodness) had to be completely demolished as it was built incorrectly. I told the General Contractor on more than one occasion not to start the deck until the inside was finished. We don't need a deck in the winter. When the windows finally came in, they were ordered incorrectly. We had to pay for all the rework, repairs and the windows paid for twice.
In April 2022 the General Contractor tells us he is moving on to a new job but will stay with us until the project is complete. Less than one week later he is gone and now there is no General Contractor not that he ever was one.
This project was never completed by New Jersey Reliable. It's been a complete disaster. Not to mention that to finish the project has cost us tens of thousands of dollars above the original estimate. Don't give New Jersey Reliable a second thought. read more
