Ok so I had a 5pm appointment after driving 35 minutes to get there, they call me to come in at 5:24. Poor customer service. They send me a questioner the same day I made the appointment which was 5 days ago which I told them I was covid positive back in March. Once they allow me inside after checking my temperature which showed no results of fever they have me again complete the questioner and they ask me did I get retested? Why the heck would I get retested? It is not a requirement, what if I had lied? What stops someone from lying how will you know? No my time has been wasted gas/tools. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. SALON OWNER IS A LIAR AND NOT CAPABLE OF HANDLING THICK 4C HAIR. They lied to my bank when I disputed the charges, but this review is the truth of what happened. The picture is time stamped Saturday TWO HOURS after a "silk press". I went to this salon on a Saturday. I was starting a new job Monday and wanted a new look. I had grown out my natural dark brown and only had a little bleached front pieces. I asked for MINIMAL peek a boo blonde highlights and a silk press. The stylist was nice and said she understood what I wanted. There is NO mirror for the customer to see their hair in the coloring station, so I could not see what was happening. When the towel came off, my poor hair was 75% BLEACHED YELLOW BRASSY BLONDE. I was mortified. I panicked. I only wanted a few stripes of bleach because my hair does not handle the chemical well. The stylist went back and covered 50% of that harsh blonde with a dark brown dye and said it would be unnoticeable. FIRST mistake. My hair came out FOUR different colors. She tried to tone it down twice but the brass would not go away. I was left with my natural brown, the brassy blonde, the "coverup" blonde which was now light brown and the over processed white blonde in the very front (which ended up all breaking off weeks later). I was so upset, but I didn't want to hurt the stylist feelings because I could tell she was trying. Hours later she started my "silk press". She blow dryed my hair and began to straighten. SECOND MISTAKE. Another hair stylist told me months later that for super thick natural hair, you MUST blow dry and then sit under a HOODED DRYER. Thick hair holds in the water and it may appear dry, but the roots will still be wet. When you apply heat it will straighten and then revert/ swell back up. This is EXACTLY what happened. When my hair was done, the stylist started taking pictures. Mid-picture, she stopped to ask "are you sweating?"...I should have KNOWN there was a problem because she stopped to flat iron the front of my hair again. It was already beginning to revert INSIDE of the salon 5 minutes after being "silk pressed". After I asked her to WRAP my hair. It was drizzling outside and I had scarf in the car. So I had her wrap it with pins. This is important because the salon would later say that I REFUSED to wrap my hair and walked into the rain...When I got home, I unwrapped my hair to take the pins out to sleep....My hair was looked like it had been BLOW DRYED. It was frizzy and felt over processed. I was so upset. I emailed the salon immediately and the owner said, "You must have went to the gym or sweat out your hair after you left. Not our problem..." I was SO MAD. They blamed me for the state of my hair when it was simply the stylist who did not take the extra step to make sure my hair was dry before flat ironing. They refused to refund me so I contacted my bank. I had paid $350 AMERICAN DOLLARS to look insane and damage my hair. When my bank asked me if I wanted to dispute the ENTIRE charge, I agreed! I did NOT get the color I wanted, my trim was uneven, and my hair was a frizzy, poofy roots mess.. When my bank contacted them, they said that I was satisfied when I left and then they LIED and said that I refused to have the additional service to protect my hair and walked into the elements with my hair exposed which is 100% FALSE and they can look back on their security cameras to see me leaving with my hair wrapped.. All in all, I spent $350 to have my hair damaged. I hate this salon and would never recommend it to anyone. They are the most unscrupulous business I have ever encountered. They should be ashamed for lying and taking my money. The stylist told me that they could not afford their current space, so they are downsizing to a smaller shop, so I understand they needed my money. I wore my hair in a slick bun for that week and will consider my money a donation. My hair has totally broken off in the front and I started using the entire Olaplex system to keep the rest intact. read more

I've been here a total of three times. Each time I saw Coleman who was recommended by a friend. This friend generally makes good recommendations and this one was not off. The first time I got a first comer discount (yes!). It's a nice space and everyone here is a professional. Friendly, courteous service is the norm. My first visit was a relaxer and a cut. My hair was in an awful state when I came here. Weak and breaking and just a god-awful mess. I got it relaxed and trimmed the first time and my god did it look amazeballs. I came back two weeks later for a color. Jet black as recommended by Coleman. Again, he did not steer me wrong.With my relaxer, cut, and color I felt like a million bucks for about two weeks. I say two weeks because after that, I did my own hair and we all know how that goes. The price is up there but it is worth it. Since I don't like to spend a lot on hair and I hate the time wasted at salons I visit here once or twice a year. If I bled benjamins and had enough free time to not mind spending 2-3 hours at a Salon, I would visit once a month. Alas, I do indeed work full time and use my weekends to forget that I work full time. read more

Today was my first day visiting this salon as I am new to New Jersey. This salon accommodated me with a last minute appointment when I explained I had a very important interview coming up (I was asked to attend last minute) Not only was the salon accommodating. They were friendly, decently priced, welcoming and knowledgeable. I informed my stylist Monejah that I suffer from dandruff and brought my own products because of it. When she saw my hair dyed red and the selsun blue shampoo come out of my bag she immediately told me no. And no, that's not a bad thing. She knew that although the selsun blue was helping with my dandruff it wasn't helping with my hair health due to my hair coloring. Not only did she voice her opinions about what is best for my natural hair's health. She slayed my weave. Definitely coming back! read more

The owner and stylist who took care of me were so kind but I will not be returning. Here's why: 1. Scheduling: When I scheduled my appointment I was given 6- something in the evening. I was coming from work and it was a Thursday evening. I scheduled earlier during the week so I could not remember if I scheduled for 6:00 or 6:30 so I called. The lady who answered the phone told me, I was scheduled for 7:00. I explained that was not the time I scheduled for and she responded "it looks as though someone else was squeezed in for a weave job so just come at the time that you were told" I was not happy with that information but okay fine...so I get there at 6:30. 2. Arriving: I get to the salon, I'm greeted and asked to take a seat. I waited until 7:00 and finally, the stylist comes up and takes me to the sink to wash my hair. Some might say 1/2 hour is not bad to sit in a salon and wait; but not for me. It was a weeknight- after work and I had to work the next day. Long gone are the days when I used to sit in a hairsalon for 2-3 hours. I'll wash my own hair at home or find another salon who can accommodate me. When I get there I expect to be taken in 10-15 minutes- tops. I suppose this would not have been so bad if the whole experience was better...but read on and you'll find it was not. 3. The "Second" Useless Wait: After the stylist washed and conditioned my hair, she sat me in the chair to wait for the owner of the salon. The owner was completing a weave and she said she would be done shortly. I waited....and waited...and waited until my frustration must have shown all over my face as the owner went to talk to the other lady who had completed my wash. The other lady came back and said she would finish me. I don't know what the big deal was in the first place with me having to wait for the owner if the other stylist could have finished me up from the beginning why did I just spend an hour and half of my life waiting for nothing. 4. Time to pay up: When I called to schedule my appointment, I made sure to ask what the cost would be for the services I was having done. I was told it would be $50-$70, depending on how much hair I have. I'm thinking I don't have that much hair as my hair is to my shoulder -so it shouldn't cost any more than $60.00. When I saw the bill, the charge for the service I HAD SCHEDULED was $60.00 however, I was very surprised to see a $10.00 charge tacked onto that- for a conditioner????? Here's a thought: Why not ask the customer if they want to pay the extra charge for your conditioner instead of adding on extra, unnecessary charges after the services are completed? Very disappointed in this as I had confided in the stylist when she said I needed a trim that I was on a budget..... but very unprofessional of the owner to tack on this $10.00 charge. Curious about how my hair looked? I can't even remember I'm so upset with everything else. read more

My first experience started a little off, but as time went on and the dust settled I really enjoyed the services I received. However they are a bit pricey for a basic service and scalp treatment, but I will go back because Saleema was efficient and knew her craft very well. Great salon! Each time I have gone, I was completely satisfied. Very professional and serene. Their hair dryers have a facial mist function that makes deep conditioning spa-like. The sinks adjust up or downward to your position in the chair- no wet face or clothes; no neck cramps. They offered me water, free to take with you hardcover books on this last visit and play Christian music over the PA system and verses are all around the walls. They also conduct health fairs and participate in breast cancer walks periodically. The stylists were looking forward to their upcoming walk planned for today. At my last visit, a vendor (Sandy Apples, I think) came in with healthy salads and wraps around lunch time! A salad with berries, nuts and raspberry vinaigrette was my choice . So, I have natural hair and have gone for a few blowouts- No breakage, no burns and extreme care taken to be gentle and prep my hair for the heat. After the blow outs my natural curl pattern returned, which I love. I read the previous review warning not to go. I asked "How often is too often to blow out my natural hair for it to lose the curl", and my stylist did suggest avoiding constant blow outs; especially doing up to a total of every 2 weeks for a year for it would probably train my hair to remain straight. I wouldn't blow my hair out during the hot summer months anyway. Prices are on par with the others- a regular wash and style is $40 and deep condition is $20...the more done, add more $. Blowouts and trim, add $30. Two hours and done! My previous stylist, Yolanda moved away, I believe. Coleman is great! read more

I've been trying to find a place to take my girls to, to help me with my girls hair. A friend of mine found them on Instagram and sent it to me. I looked at it, and decided to call. No answer so I went on the website as she mentioned on her voicemail to schedule and appointment to have my girls hair done. I wanted to get their hair done sooner than later but Thursday was the only day that was showing late appointments. I needed the latest time slots cause i had to work. I paid my deposit for both of my girls. I was scheduled to work late and wouldn't make the appointment so I requested the day off and got it. Since now I'm off I called and no answer again. So I left a message and I emailed that I noticed there were earlier slots available and since I no longer am working that day could I bring them in earlier. She emailed me back saying that her next available appointment is in the 19th. Whenever you call, you get no answer and the emails aren't the clearest. How do you tell us to schedule an appointment on line and when we do it's not really scheduled. I sat there and filled everything out, paid my deposit but no confirmed appointment. She emailed me that the next available appointment is 10 days after the day I paid my deposit for. Unless you don't have a job. I wouldn't recommend making an appointment. I can't explain how disappointing this is to get the day off so that I can take my girls and now since I have the day off I now need to find another place that will be able to take them... HOPEFULLY!!! Now I lost money from not working and from putting (2) deposit down to schedule an appointment that's really not an appointment! read more

I would like to start out by saying this is my second visit with the Salon & I have to say that my stylist Jasmine is a gem...she is very professional with a great personality...I got the silkpress/wrap with a deep conditioner both times & my hair is very soft & is bouncing and behaving she does excellent work and uses top of the line products...the atmosphere is calmn & very relaxing, with great music playing in the background...all of the stylist are no nonsense types very friendly & accommodating and greets you upon entering & leaving the salon ...I highly recommend you give Jasmine a try. read more

Didn't like my hair post pin curls. Given the price and 5 hour time that it took from start to finish, not a result that translated or left me satisfied. She stated she was rushing (at 6pm on a Saturday other clients were still waiting and arriving for service) and I feel like my hair looks like it was done hurriedly. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE NATURAL HAIR!! I went here for a blow out. Mind you I have natural hair and this salon's website says they have experience with natural hair. I put no additional product or heat on my hair after she did my hair. When I washed my hair, I had patches that were completely straight. I had major heat damage!! No just to the ends, but at the root as well. It wasn't just me! I had a friend that went too and she had the same issues!!! I immediately talked to the owner and she only offered to do my hair.... Ummm HELLO YALL JACKED UP MY HAIR, WHY WOULD I WANT YOU TO TOUCH IT AGAIN!! She wouldn't even give me a refund stating that it was against the policy... But you're the owner... C'mon!! I have had TONS of blow outs before but never anything like this. You could have at least given me my money back... I will NEVER EVER go here again. read more

I visited this salon a few weeks ago and I must say its a real gem. The staff was welcoming in addition to the salon itself being gorgeous. You can tell a lot about a salon from how your hair is washed and treated. Let me be the one to tell you that my wash was terrific. The team member who washed my hair had magic hands. She explained everything about technique to a T gave pros and cons and tips of the different treatments offered and how my hair would respond given its state. What more could I have asked for. Upon meeting the stylist she to made me feel very comfortable and created a look according to what I told her I wanted.. Although I'm not a huge fan of sitting in a Salon for hrs. If you value your time, do not go to this salon! I arrived 5 minutes early for my noon appointment and didn't walk out until 330 pm. I received a simple shampoo, condition and trim; my natural hair was styled in bantu knots. I didnt get a blow out, press or hair installed so 3.5 hours due to wait time is UNACCEPTABLE! There was one other client already waiting in the salon when I arrived. There were two stylist in the salon, one of which was the salon owner. It was after 12pm when the stylist I was scheduled with took the other client first; apparently, we were both double booked for noon. Since my arrival, three other clients arrived and every single one of them waited an hour before their hair was touched. The salon owner did not touch her first client until 145 because she was on her cell phone shortly after I arrived and remained on it for quite some time. She stepped outside a number of times to carry her conversation. After completing her 1st clients shampoo and placing her under the dryer, my stylist began tending to me around 1220 pm. She first trimmed my hair...it took 40 minutes. It was 1pm when she walked me over to the shampoo bowl. I was seated under the dryer at 1:15 with conditioner in my hair...and her other client was rinsed and then taken to the styling chair to wait as she began to shampoo a third client! After 30 mins under the dryer, with conditioner in my hair, I removed myself from the dryer, that was still running, and sat WAITING at the shampoo bowl. It was 2:20 pm when the stylist finally came to rinse out my conditioner, after finishing her first clients blow out. Almost two and half hours for a shampoo wash and trim?!?!? There were so many times while waiting that I wanted to just get up and walk out but I maintained my composer. The salon owner eas eating her lunch while customers waited. That was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! When the stylist finally finished, neither she nor the owner asked me about the services, otherwise I would have kindly told them about their lack of professionalism. This salon barely gets one star from me. Again, if your time is valuable, book an appointment elsewhere, or stay home and do your hair yourself! read more
