BEFORE GOING HERE YOU ARE GOING TO WANT TO READ THIS REVIEW... I don't usually leave reviews, but I couldn't continue to not leave a review for Bkrowned Beauty Bar. I'm pretty picky about who gets their hands on my hair and face. It's a big deal to me. But let me tell you, Bkrowned is truly something special. I am so happy for all the positive reviews because it does not disappoint. From the owner to the stylists, every single person there knows their stuff when it comes to hair care. They treat your hair like it's their own, and you can genuinely feel the love and care they put into every strand. I remember feeling so nervous the first time I got a weave and wig done, but when I saw the final result, I was absolutely blown away. As a female walking in, I looked like Jay Z, and walking out, I looked like Beyoncé--it sounds dramatic, but it's the honest truth. I was rocking the Jay Z look because I was tired of trusting other salons. But what really sets Bkrowned apart and keeps me coming back is their dedication to luxury and ensuring your satisfaction with every service. We've all been in those crowded salons where you leave feeling more stressed than when you arrived, only to find your hair looking worse than when you came in. Bkrowned is the complete opposite. They create a calming atmosphere while their expert stylists work their magic, delivering top-quality results that exceed your expectations. Plus, they're accommodating, punctual, and understanding, making every visit a breeze. The dedication to the appointment time is what I really respect. So, if you're tired of feeling overwhelmed at other salons, do yourself a favor and give Bkrowned a chance. Trust me, you won't regret it. It's more than just a salon--it's an unforgettable experience that will keep you coming back for more. read more

Made a appointment for 5am which they had a slot open, they took a deposit from my account and said wait for my appointment to be accepted, I waited all day 8:35 pm I got a email stating my appointment time was changed to 1 pm but still no acceptance email. At this time I called the shop number available over 8 times and send several messages. No response. All I want is my deposit returned!!! read more

I got extensions here and had a terrible experience. The braids and net were so tight that I developed tension bumps, had a headache for days, and lost some hair that was being pulled. I reached out to the salon that few days later to see if they could help resolve the issue with the install but the woman I spoke with was indifferent to the severity of the situation or the discomfort I was in. She told me they were booked but I could try to come in a few days later and sit around to see if they could fit me in. She had no concern for the issue and was not apologetic at all. Needless to say, I won't be returning. read more

I can't say enough about BKrowned salon! If you're from NYC, you'll know that traveling from Queens to the Bronx is a trek, but from the first time I visited, I knew I wouldn't go anywhere else for hair. My very first visit was for box braids ahead of my trip to Paris. They were done by the owner, Bee. She was warm and welcoming and by the end of my service, I felt like we'd been friends for years. Plus, my braid were beautiful!!! Since then, I've been back for braids, wigs, and sew-ins. All the women in the shop are fun, hard working, and ambitious. And they LAY hair! I would highly recommend this salon to anyone. It's well worth the trip! read more

Extremely unprofessional. Please trust the honest reviews and go to black owned where your time and money is respected. Customer service and honesty needs work. Notice the high reviews, the "customers" posting it have never posted reviews elsewhere. Weird. The owner uses her cell phone as the forwarding number for this business but stops responding to texts. I made an appointment through their booking link and was informed that they could not fulfill without crazy wait times so I decided to cancel and was told I'd get a cancellation over the phone and my deposit refunded. They have yet to do so and the "owner" is dodging my messages. After we got off the call, she confirmed my appt in the system rather than canceled it as agreed upon. Just unprofessional and shady behavior. I try and support black owned businesses but not when it's unprofessional like this. Also not that welcoming or respectful in tone and transparency. 1. Why have bookings open you don't have time for? Clients have busy schedules also. 2. Why have a business phone you don't answer? 3. Why tell a customer to the call the business and it's forwarded to the same number I am texting you from where you seldom respond? 4. Why agree to something you won't fulfill in a timely manner? It's sad because I found this business on social media but you can't trust it. I found a great stylist elsewhere who didn't make my booking experience a red flag. Not worth it. read more

This review is about my initial experience at the BKrowned Hair and Beauty 14 East 125th street location. I was really excited to get my hair done at Bkrowned salon. After doing research; I decided to make a consultation appointment at Bkrowned Hair Salon. Now a days, clients are given the option to book online instead of calling the business to make an appointment. I think this is convenient for the business and clients. Unfortunately, the red flags started with me making an appointment for a consultation. I even contacted the salon on Instagram and I didn't get a reply. I made an appointment on 7/12 on Bkrowned website for the service I desired. Whomever is in charge of checking appointments, didn't confirm my appointment. I called the salon several times and was told someone would get back to me. I needed my hair done for an event. So, on the day I made my consultation appointment I went to the salon. The person who greeted me was surprised I came in person. I told the man my consultation request was not answered. I decided to come in person. One would think this salon was jam pack with clients since I didn't get a confirmation. I was asked to have a seat while he find someone to consult me. I waited 15 mins. The hairstylist was nice and thorough . She told me for the particular service I want; I should come in August since I recently dyed my hair and I wanted a relaxer ( price $150 and up ). I decided to make an (8/23) appointment for September. I used the Bkrowned website to make an appointment. The website had issues booking my appointment. For one, I had to leave a deposit. I didn't mind leaving a deposit if I will get a confirmed appointment. However, I couldn't make an appointment. There was an issue with the website. I called the salon. A woman told me to download the app. I told her I don't want to download and app on my phone. She said " call back if you continue to have issues ". Well I did continue to have issues. Side note : if this place was business savvy the person would have scheduled my appointment on the phone. I still use my old iPhone , so I decided to download the Vagaro app to make an appointment. I don't want another app on my current phone. When I looked on the page to make an appointment. There were plenty available appointments. I booked my appointment for 9/2 at 12pm. I had to leave a deposit. After I left a deposit my appointment was pending. What's the use of making an appointment and leaving a deposit and get a pending message. The day I requested was available. I call the salon the next day ( 8/24) , a woman answered the phone She said " Hello ". I thought " Did I call the salon? ". I asked " is this Bkrowned salon". She replied " Yes ". I told the lady I didn't get a confirmation for my appointment. I left a deposit as well. She said " give it some time ". Why do I have to " give it time? ". Then she told me " Someone will call you ". Well, no one called me ! It has been 24 hours since I made my appointment. Since she said " give it some time " I waited . She also told me " appointments aren't confirmed until the week of the appointment ". I'm a busy working woman. I plan my schedule. Why do I have to wait a week for a confirmation, especially after leaving a deposit! Two days passed ; and I didn't receive an email that my appointment was confirmed. I also checked the app. I didn't get a message. I thought to myself, these are red flags. I called serval times. Each woman I spoke to could have just PENCIL ME IN. You know , what people use to do back in the days. Heck, some businesses still pencil clients in for appointments. I never in my life had an issue making appointments and getting and immediate CONFIRMATION with or without a deposit. One would think with modern technology; appointments would be made in a snap. But, if a company doesn't care , the convenience is useless. I thought " I will not get my hair done at this salon" It's apparent they don't value customers and the salon owner isn't business savvy. I called 8/25 to asked for a refund. The person who answered the phone sounded like the lady who answered my called 8/24. I informed her I want to cancel my appointment. I've waited 2 days and still did not receive an appointment. She didn't apologize nor try to make it right. She asked for my name and saw I left a deposit and returned my deposit. Oh the irony, she could see I had an appointment pending and I left a deposit. Instead of making it; right she gave me my money back. Since she saw my appointment pending and a deposit; any wise business person ( employee ) would immediately book my appointment. I received a text message my appointment was canceled. I never had an appointment. My appointment was pending for 2 days. My service would have been over $200, and they decided they didn't need my money. Lol. I see this as a blessing in disguise. I'll take my hard earn money elsewhere. read more

I send my 70 year old mother there to get her locs done... and we LOVE IT! I'm super protective over my mom, and there are days I can't take her... B, the owner, will personally call me and my mom to coordinate her appointments. And when I can't make it there they take perfect care of her... from walking her in from her car... to refilling her champagne glass. My mom now thinks she's one of the b'krowned girl.... This makes me happy. Also Her hair was thinning when we first started coming. Her locs are now thickening up ... the growth oil is a game changer. read more

Overall, a fairly good salon with a few drawbacks. I came to B'Krowned seeking a weave for my birthday and vacation. I found B'Krowned on the Vagaro app. After seeing their impressive work on instagram, I decided to book an appointment. Booking is very easy and there is no deposit required. My hair at the time had been growing out from a pixie cut, it had been about a month after I last had a relaxer. So here are my thoughts: Staff/Experience: - Awesome! I was the first customer of the day and they opened on-time. The staff including the owner are very personable and attentive. The salon is not only a beauty bar, it really is an experience. I feel like they brought it back to the old days, where you'd get your hair done and have great conversation with your stylist and other customers. Service: - I came in for a traditional sew-in with a side part using 3 bundles of hair. Although my hair came out absolutely beautiful, I did not like some of the process. Firstly, the stylist used oil sheen to hot comb my hair. I'm not a hair professional nor do I have professional experience doing hair however, I do believe hair protectant is essential. I also know my hair better than anyone and oil sheen is not enough. Secondly, she pressed the hell out of my hair, so much so that I had a burn on my forehead. Luckily, having a side part style covered it up. I have thin edges and my hair was relatively short. She kept going over my edges and certain parts of my leave-out, over and over. There were points during the service where I was flinching and after awhile, I simply said "please!". I understand she was likely trying to get my hair to blend as best as possible. But if a client is displaying discomfort, its best to find an alternate plan. Nonetheless, the style came out beautiful and the price was reasonable ($140). They also have a promotional card for returning customers. - Advertised times of operation are possibly incorrect. I tried to re-book for a wash and re-tighten a bout 3-4 weeks later. On the Vagaro site, it states that the shop is open on Sundays. I called on a Sunday to see if I could be squeezed in for a last minute appointment. When I called, a young woman advised me, "the stylists are not really in on Sundays, so there is no one to do hair". I didn't bother asking why the discrepancy on the site nor did I book for another day (wasn't conducive with my schedule). I would recommend they update this or as a customer, call first. Overall, 4 stars for great customer service and beautiful work, but I question their techniques. I would recommend to someone else however, I don't think I would return. read more

I have been a client of this salon for about 1-2 years and I must say that they are stuck with me forever! The atmosphere is both joyful and professional. Any style that I desire, they are able to achieve the look with no issue. Each stylist is unique and well experienced with their own techniques and styles. I have received a silk press, a traditional sew-in with leave out, a frontal wig install and etc. Each stylist understood the assignment! You will not be disappointed at B'Krowned. It's difficult to find a salon that takes care of your hair underneath the install. Such a special gem in the Bronx, NY! read more

Inconsiderate and unprofessional... The woman working first chair to the left had me take a seat in the back of the shop,,, stating that it would be a wait... I patiently waited an hour expecting someone to come and inquire about the style I was interested in and no one did... I ask the same woman how long would it be and she now tells me I have to speak to the lady who does that style!! I asked the woman at the back of the shop (who saw me seating there the whole time) if she could do my hair... She answers that I need to schedule a consultation via online before any services.... What?? Really?? I was frustrated at the fact that every worker in there observed me waiting and did not think about asking a customer if they were being helped!!! Also this business is now located in HARLEM,, not The Bronx..... I'll spend my money elsewhere... read more

I've tried silk presses before that didn't last at all, it's all been a waste of time and money, but this press at B Krowned was AMAZING! I couldn't believe it. I have been natural for 2 years now, but seeing the finished work looks like I got a perm. My roots are so straight, my hair is bouncy and shiny, I'm in love! I am so happy I gave this place a chance. Although I do not live in NY anymore, I feel better knowing that whenever I come back home to the Bronx, that I have a place to get serviced! Also, everyone was very friendly and respectful . It's a 10/10 for me! read more

First let me say, The owner Bee has the most welcoming and sweetest personality which drives the atmosphere of her shop cause hands down its amazing vibes. Second, Before coming to this shop I got my hair done at another salon and it was a total disaster, my birthday photoshoot was literally the next day so I called up B'krowned the night before and she took me in that same night extremely last min transitioning my hair from disaster to phenomenal. The most beautiful part is my hair withstood the horse photoshoot with sun, wind and all. I highly recommend this salon because you're treated like family here. read more

Iight so boom. I'm a Black woman and I do NOT play when it comes to my hair. My hair is my crown and I take that adornment VERY seriously. I am SO HAPPY that I've finally found a salon I can call home. I found B'Krowned on Instagram and after the pictures and styles were absolutely beautiful I decided to give them a go. Prior too, I was finding personal hairstylists but found it difficult to align them with my schedule. The beauty of B'Krowned is that they have multiple stylists who are specialized in different areas. Braids, locs, natural hair, silk presses, coloring etc. They also offer brow & lash styling, teeth whitening & makeup services. HELLO! Booking an appointment is easy & you'll always be able to find someone to take care of you. When I walked in I was greeted with a "hello!" from not only the stylists but the customers. Masks are required & washing hands is a must. Mimosas, champagne, juice or water are offered. CLASSY GALS! And seeing Black women and young girls running the show?! I loved it. This salon is quintessential beauty & luxury for Black women. Not to say they only style Black women, they can do anyone, but the music, conversation & overall vibe is just beautiful. Honestly. I personally have had a weave installed, knotless braids completed & bantu knots. A wash, extra treatment or trim is an additional price (you can come washed & blow dried on your own) but I like to leave it to the professionals. The owner B, also has a hair line with wonderful products and I love to give that a try. The ONLY con, and that's me looking for one, is the price. Some would say it leans on the pricier side. But it's honestly affordable and I don't mind paying for luxury and a style that LASTS! And stylists that actually care about your hair. I cannot tell you how many stylists will do these styles and treatments on clients just because it's what they want when they know good and well it's not healthy for them. I'm grateful for licensed and trained stylists who again, actually care. All in all, I love it here. They have a client in me for sure. read more

Hair came out really nice, also a nice space, but there was an influx of flying bugs literally everywhere. On top of that, no AC during a heatwave, how can you have your workers working in such conditions or even feel comfortable putting clients under the dryer with nothing but hot air blowing threw a fan. Owner had about 6 fans around blowing hot air in an all black building...basically it was hot asf you might sweat out your hair while getting it done literally. read more

I really wanted to love B'Krowned because I know so many of their customers do, but I'm sadden to say my experience with my install is not great. Within two weeks of getting my weave, two tracks were lose and now two weeks later, the front track is coming off. I've only had this weave for a month, and this is disappointing because I know they can do hair very well. I don't know if I will be a returning customer. read more

My daughter booked an appointment with this salon for 1pm on 6/30. This salon sent her an email that changed the time from 1pm to 3pm, and she could not make that time. The appointment was cancelled and she was told she would be refunded her deposit. This salon never refunded the money! She called back and they keep saying is that the money was refunded and to call the bank. Who ever owns this salon is a DISHONEST THIEF! They charge you a deposit to make appointments, don't honor the appointment time and then keep your money! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!! MOMS WARN YOUR DAUGHTERS NOT TO BOOK APPOINTMENTS THAT REQUIRE YOU TO LEAVE ANY DEPOSITS WITH THESE PEOPLE! DONT GIVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY TO A BUSINESS WITH NO INTEGRITY!!! DISGRACEFUL! read more

She was so motivating i left the salon feeling good looking good and extremely motivated! 3. Lastly! MY HAIR LOOKS BOMB!!!!! ! Men are complimenting my curls! I saw a few reviews with the same issue and unfortunately ignored them. I made an appointment online with the salon for a blowout and they charged me a deposit for what my email called a "pending" appointment. Got my hair done here for my birthday it came out cute but didn't last as long as I wanted it to as I wish my hair was throughly styled. The install was flat flat! Owner is so personable & inspiring. I do wish she discussed pricing with me prior to as I was charged $50 extra. Didn't mind too much. BUT! she did find some scrap hair (that should have been washed) to help blend in my blonde highlighted leave out. Maybe that's the reason so it seemed fair at the time. Overall, it's a black owned business & the vibe is right. Owner treats employees like family. No complaints other than an up charge. read more

If I could rate this business 0 stars I would. First off this salon is located in east Harlem, not the Bronx. Do not trust a business that requires a deposit just to request an appointment. Secondly they lie about refunding the deposit. Just a bunch of bums running a hair business. Take your dollars elsewhere read more

i went to see about making an appointment but they wouldn't even open the door. terrible customer service.

Love love love this place. I've been going to the same salon for years but i was at work one day and I came across a post from Bkrowned saying they had silk press availability that day. So I called and scheduled right away and went in. Everything went smoothly from the moment I walked in , an employee welcomed me , grabbed my belongings and hung them for me. Even complimented my outfit. I had just recovered from a crisis (fungus infection on my scalp) which I told them before hand. I was so uncomfortable discussing it and thought they would behave disgusted with the extensive damage of my hair like my previous salon did. But they were extremely professional about it. They made me feel very relaxed and comfortable. Shared tips on what I should and shouldn't be doing with my hair type. The owner B, herself did my hair. Gave me tips for helping restore healthy hair , and cut all the damage without compromising the healthy hair, which I was grateful for since I already lost so much hair. 5 starts for the customer service. 5 stars for communication , 5 stars for how much I loved my cut. Love it there and I won't be getting silk presses anywhere else. read more

BKrowned provided the best experience from the walk in! I was super late to my appointment due to commuting from jersey and didn't think my appointment would be accommodated as it was a full house. B greeted me upon arrival. I felt very welcomed and comfortable btw. I asked B if she can accommodate me and she checked her schedule as she was fully booked and was able to squeeze me in. I had the pleasure of Asha braid my hair down for my sew in and she was the sweetest. When it was time to get my sew-in, B was sooooooooooo nice! It's sad I have to rate it 1 star. Unfortunately they are very unprofessional I booked to have my hair done on a Tuesday morning and they rescheduled me for the next day without letting me know as if I had the free time to go whenever I please. I'm a business owner and I operate on strict schedules. I then rebooked for the following Friday which they confirmed. I called to ask a question about my service and all of a sudden they didn't see me in the schedule which was weird because they just confirmed me. The woman on the phone was telling me her computer was taking a while and she spoke to the stylist who said she was not available which made no sense because they confirmed my appointment. The woman called me back and then rescheduled me for 10am which I said was fine then later I received a text message saying it was cancelled. Again confused after I just spoke with someone. I called back to find out what was going on and I was told I'll be called back. I was never called back. I went ahead and called them back and they didn't pick up. This is so disrespectful and tasteless. Clients are busy just like them and they had no consideration for my time I couldn't even receive a call back to get an explanation as to why my booking was cancelled. It's very hard to support black owned when you continuously get half ass service. I'm a business owner myself and I would never make my customers feel like they're a burden or don't help make thing clear for them. If you pride yourself on professionalism then practice more of what you preach ! This is ridiculous already ! read more

The owner Bee, is simply amazing. She is kind, she is on time, she is professional and she is about her business. My sister had an early morning wedding event on a Saturday morning . Instead of coming to the shop she suggested a house call so the bride could be comfortable and have a fresh hairstyle right before her event. (Of course for an additional fee, but it was worth it ) She got here 6:30 am on the dot , with all of her supplies ready to work within 5 min. What I love is she's not one of those stylist who doesn't chat with her clients. Not matter how early it was she came, full of energy, bringing great vibes and positive energy. Letting my sister know everything she was doing to her hair along the way. And the end result was simply fabulous. This girl works hard, and I would definitely book her again without hesitation. Also if your looking for a wedding stylist to do natural hair, she is the one! Thank you for a wonderful experience. read more

I Love The Work This Salon Provides, However I Travel All The Way From New Jersey To NYC to Get My Hair Done. I've Came To This Salon Over 5 Times & The First Experience Here Was Fantastic... That I've Decided To Continue On Coming Back. However 2 out of my 5 Visits were not professional at all. There were about 3 Different People In My Hair and My Hair Felt Rushed. I Had Felt Uncomfortable because one stylist was told to do my hair and did not moisturize my hair at all brushing it hard and dry, a different stylist was told to do the next step on my hair and I had to inform her my hair was not moisturized so please add a leave in to my hair before she adds any heat. I wish I was able to select a stylist for the service I need because I've never had any issue with Shaneek. She provides full attention to her client even if she needs a break from the start to the beginning and we are all human. B please take this in mind because I would like to keep coming here however not all stylists at the shop are providing good customer service and care even though hair might look nice the customer might not be satisfied with their hair when leaving.
