I spent a weekend at Nizuc earlier this month. One of the best weekends of the year so far. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a staff member who offered us cold towels and glasses of water or a blended green juice as we checked in at the front desk. Check-in was painless and easy, and we were whisked away on a golf cart to our room. The driver took his time to point out places of interest along the way, which came super handy later on as my friend and I prefer to walk/wander around. Our room was 644 (located on the 5th floor [?!?] of the first building beside the spa) and was stunning - high ceilings, huge bed, expansive view of the mangroves and ocean. Beautifully carved wooden doors slid open to reveal a luxurious bathroom, larger than most NYC apartments. There was a sweet personalized amenity letter with a snack left in the room for us, which was much appreciated. All staff members greet you with a hand to their chest and a head nod - a detail that I loved. It's a quick cart ride to the beach or you can take your time and walk. Beach attendants are polite and help you with whatever you may need. There's free paddle boarding or snorkeling at the far right side for you to take advantage of. The food and the service at their restaurants was top notch. I'm usually incredibly critical of most places (hospitality veteran here) but I had nothing bad to say about the food or the service. They even send you off with a gift bag of chocolate after dining at Ramona. Sweet. Bomb-ass breakfast buffet with a Bloody Mary/Mimosa bar, omelet/crepe chef, Mexican favorites, and a ton of sweet and savory options for you to choose from. Also, American cereal for those with uncultured Midwestern palates. That being said, after reading some of the negative reviews here, I'd like to address some common complaints (which are hilarious when you read them out loud). 1. You go to a resort on a beautiful beach with crystal-clear shallow waters and small, lapping waves. And then you only go hang out by the pool, then complain that there are not enough pool chairs and the ocean is not swimmable. 2. You go to a resort in the tropics and don't pack sunscreen. 3. You go to a luxury resort and then complain that everything is expensive. My dude. The whole thing is supposed to be "luxe". 4. You go to a luxury resort and bring your children, then complain that the place is not good for kids because the Kid's Club is not open in the evening. Have dinner with your children, they'll cherish these memories. 5. You go to a luxury resort and pay $270USD for a manicure. Did the idea of getting a mani/pedi in Chinatown for $45 before your vacation not come to mind or did you expect the world's greatest nail service in the Yucatan Peninsula? 6. You go to a luxury resort and didn't know you have to sign off as you check out. This is not the Holiday Inn Express. I'd like to end this review with the wish that they'd make this place adults-only. Long shot, I know. I'll still be back as soon as I can. read more

Don't go here, I want it all for myself. Tired of eating at a table with a fork and knife? Is craft beer making you fat? Are you tired of chasing away cougar all night? Enter Nizuc. With some amazing food choices (please don't order the salmon or tuna, you're in Mexico man...) , you'll never have to leave the hotel. Ceviche pool side, ceviche in your beach cabana, ceviche at the bar..... it's fresh baby! Mezcal..... yes! And the cougars, well you can catch one by the toe if that's what you are in the mood for. The chefs here are on the upper end of the hotel spectrum. While there is no "Pujol" per say on site, some the chefs trained at the fine establishments in Mexico City. You must be pro active, ask what is really good, ask the staff what they eat, drink the mezcal. I loved eating in the hotel restaurants (sounds weird in my head too). For the people that say they got food poisoning...... its Mexico man, Moctezuma is not going to forgive and forget. The rooms are beautiful, the view is beautiful, and the staff tries so hard its weird. The room doors have a two cm space between the bottom and the floor, that lets in the sounds of noisy cougars coming back from a night on the prowl. Having a room at the end of the hall is preferable. Remember, don't stay here! read more

Beautiful hotel with an incredible private beach. Because of how the resort is situated and locked by rocky bluffs , no one can walk down the beach to sell you anything. Very secure. The service we have received in our multiple trips here has been flawless. We love the restaurants here and have never felt the need to leave the resort once arriving. The distance from the airport is less than 15 minutes so it is a very easy place to get to. We leave Houston around 7;30 and are drinking in the Nizuc restaurants by 10:30. We will be back for sure. read more

Great place but had a food issue. This was my second visit to Nizuc with my wife. We both got sick from some type of food we ate at the resort. We were part of a company group that a large majority got sick during our stay. The management has yet to make a statement on what the problem was which is frustrating considering the level of resort Nizuc has claimed to be. I want to be a bigger fan but getting ecoli with dozens of other people I traveled with and getting no response from the property is not reassuring that this won't be a problem in the future. read more

Where do I begin. This place is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!! One of the BEST resort I've EVER been to. I can't even find the words to describe how AAAAAAMAZ- ING the staff is here. They'll stop and greet you anywhere and everywhere you are at. (with their right hand over their chest. Like their doing the pledge of allegiance), everyone is SO kind, friendly caring, attentive to everything you want and need. There's a driver that drives you around in a golf cart from the lobby to your building or anywhere you want to go on the resort. Ohh and don't even bother asking to drive. I already tried a dozen times and got dozen No's. Aside from that even the driver gets out of the cart to greet you with his hand over his chest and go as far to press the elevator button for you.The service here is BEYOND extraordinary The rooms were beautifully design, very detailed, modern with a view. I was excited to see that they had L'Occitane en Provence products in the bathroom. Say what? :D The spa is a must! I'm lucky to say I've been to so many spa before and this one was defiantly an experiences. I had my own personal lady to guild me throughout the entire facility. For example, She'll show to the steam room, sauna and to the shower and give me some sort of scrub to pick from with instructions. After each step she'll be right outside my door with a fresh towel, my rob and my dried bikini. From there she take me to this waiting room where i have tea, water and fresh fruit to relax until my massage and facial. Beware you'll never want to leave Nizuc. The resort is gorgeous and they have a great New Years party (which of course you pay handsomely for), however, the service is extremely poor. Management needs to better organize its processes and staff. Lots of staff standing around doing nothing. It took us 20 minutes to check out although we checked our bill the night before and there was a credit card on file. Long waits at the front desk. While checking out the staff member took another call. We almost missed our flight and ended a relaxing vacation. Restaurants and drinks over priced and food was not great. Small portions and bad menus. Not great for kids. Kids club staff was great but not open in the evenings when you want to go to dinner. I suggest you get a day pass at club med down the road to use their many more amenities. Look for other resorts - not worth the money! read more

During my most recent trip with a female friend to Cancun, we stayed at two hotels along the Cancun resort strip - Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach, and Nizuc. Comparing the two, Nizuc wins hands down as the most relaxing, luxurious hotel we went to during our 5-day trip to Cancun. Highlights of our stay at Nizuc include the great Spa experience, as well as the attentive service. LOCATION: 4/5 If you're looking for nightlife and shopping, Nizuc is quite a ways from all of that. Nizuc is located at the southern border of the hotel strip in the Cancun resort area, which gives it a private little corner along the beach, away from the crowds. If you're into nightlife, you'd have to take a cab (around $20USD) to get to the club district up north. I wouldn't recommend it, however, because the traffic northbound during the weekend night may be more trouble than the nightlife's worth. Nizuc's secluded location does lend itself well to relaxation and beach bumming, however. -- ROOM: 4/5 We had made a mistake during our booking, where we assumed our room type was different than the one we ultimately stayed in. We stayed in a Garden Suite, which was the first level room in the suites buildings that face the bushes. Had we chosen again, we'd opt for an oceanview suite or even a villa. The bathrooms are spacious and feature rain showers. Housekeeping brings a new snack or treat in every day. The quality and care put into the rooms is superb - 4/5 because Nizuc's online listings on hotel booking websites are not clear. -- FOOD: 4/5 We dined at Indochine (the Asian fusion restaurant), Ramona (the fine dining Mexican establishment), and the pool bar (snacks and drinks). We had drinks at La Punta as well as the Terra Nostra Lounge, both of which featured a pool. - Indochine was the best among the three we dined at, having an impeccably decorated interior next to a body of water as well as a decent selection of East Asian and Southeast Asian cuisines. I ordered the Miso Cod and the Salmon Nigiri, and both were done superbly. My friend ordered a SouthEast Asian curry dish, which was lacking in dimensionality. Overall, 4.5/5 for the Japanese food. -Ramona left much to be desired. The setting itself, although grand, did not harbor the same intimate atmosphere as Indochine. The food was okay - there wasn't anything that really stood out to me. To my disappointment, my Mexican Stew main course came overcooked and overly fatty. The pork had been cooked to the extent of becoming mushy (not tender - mushy), while the middle of my pork had huge chunks of fat. Lost part of my appetite after eating that. Overall, 3/5 for the food. - Pool bar had a decent selection of snacks and drinks. We ordered the Fish Tacos, which were very good, as well as the Fruit Plate which was a beautiful selection of delicious tropical fruits. Service is also very attentive, and you get to either enjoy your snack under your own cabana or have a drink in the pool-enclosed bar area. Overall, 5/5 for the pool bar. - La Punta - decent drinks. Smaller pool area, closer to the beach. We went during the day, so we weren't able to try its food offerings. 5/5 for the view and atmosphere. - Terra Nostra Lounge - beautiful rooftop lounge area. When we visited, we were the only two patrons of the night (Saturday at 11pm!). Highly recommended if you want a nice place to watch the sunset or the waves of the ocean. 5/5 for the view and atmosphere. -- SPA: 5/5 I went in for a Personalized Facial treatment for 50 minutes, which includes access to the thermal therapy facilities. The facilities include a steam room, cold shower, ice room, sauna, jacuzzi, and the resting area. My facial was sublime - my skin felt hydrated and glowing after leaving the spa. The atmosphere is luxurious yet cozy; I never felt rushed through my spa treatment, before or after. My treatment specialist was also very professional. -- SERVICE: 5/5 Attentive but not overbearing. I also liked the fact that the tip amount had been included in the bills for all of our activities (spa, food, room service, etc) already, so we didn't have to wonder about Mexican norms. There are several points of access for needs at Nizuc, from the Butler service to Concierge, so we were never in want of anything. Checking in and checking out was a breeze - much appreciated given that we had an early morning flight out of Cancun! -- The only negative I have about Nizuc would be the price of its rooms. This resort was amazing. I cannot even express how accommodating and amazing the staff were and the resort itself is one of the most gorgeous I have ever been to. The rooms are perfect, amazing bathrooms and great amenities. The pools (yes pools plural) are all infinity, over the ocean and so relaxing. It was not at all too crowded and I had such a relaxing time. I would love to go back to this resort, I'm already missing the cabanas by the pool. read more

Fantastic hotel.. They think of everything from providing beach toys for kids (without you requesting) to beach bag (already in the room) for you to use at the beach. They also have a kids club complimentary if your kid gets bored of the sea and pool. Service is wonderful. I have to say I have not experienced better and more personalized service than that provided at this hotel. Each block of hotel has a butler and he remembers your name and any requests you make. We requested for a very early buggy ride to pick us at 4.30am and its there when you get down from your room. Service at the restaurants are also great not to mention the food is top quality. They even push a cart down the beach to provide you with Popsicles for the hot weather. Well definitely recommend this place and hope to come back again!! read more

4.5 Stars. I have visited Nizuc Resort and Spa several times and I have never been disappointed. It's pricier than a lot of the other resorts in Cancun but that is for good reason.. Prices have significantly increased over the years but if you search the web, you can find some great deals. They also sometimes send offers via email to prior guests. The rooms are well appointed and well designed using the best, high quality materials while still keeping a Mayan/Mexican charm. It is still considered to be in the hotel zone but it's really about a mile away from the hustle and bustle of downtown which actually makes it more attractive to me. The grounds are impeccable, service is great and genuine (took us a while to get used to the hands on the heart) but it is really a nice touch. It made us feel seen. We opted against the meal plan because hubby doesn't drink much but i would absolutely recommend the drink package if you are a drinker because we still ran up an extra $600 (4 days) without excessive drinking. This was just ordering food at the pool and our dinners.. We have stayed in both the plunge and ocean suite and I would definitely recommend the ocean suite. We had an amazing view of the ocean every morning and it was worth the price. The room is as mentioned well designed. The bathrooms were stunning and featured they same amazing and thoughtfully designed architecture that can be seen throughout the resort. What a joy. All rooms are suites and you can select a swim up or ocean or garden room, i believe. Housekeeping was consistent and nightly turn down service came with a surprise treat nightly (from cookies to chocolates, we always looked forward to returning to the room after a long day of sunbathing) The service at the pools and bar is phenomenal, we returned daily and all staff remembered us by first name. The restaurants wee exquisite. I particular enjoyed the Asian themed restaurant. They also have a decent wine selection but I would recommend going to a local liquor or wine store to stock up on necessities. Trust me, it's better. The spa is also AMAZING. If you wanted to get to the hotel zone, you could use the hotels driver service or be adventurous and catch the local bus for $2. It's literally a 10 minute max drive. The highlight of Nizuc is that it is so easy to get to. A quick, direct flight will get you there in a few hours...I love how it feels almost like you are in parts of Asia or more lush areas of Mexico like Puerto Vallarta. I just love the tranquil atmosphere of the resort generally an cannot wait to return! read more

We were charged because we did as we were told but found out at check out that we owned $85 for a meal we ate 20 minutes too early for our all inclusive package. Sad way to end a fun trip. This hotel claims to be dog friendly... but when you book, they send you a "contract" requiring you to agree not to take your dog to the restaurants, beach, pool area, common areas etc... when I asked about service dogs, I was told by the hotel booking agent that the rules also apply. What?!?! Please stop marketing yourselves as dog friendly. You simply are not welcoming to people that need the help of animals. It will save the hotel, staff and patrons the confusion, frustration and disappointment. read more

I can't wait to go back! Nizuc is without a doubt the most incredible resort I've ever stayed in EVER. I have traveled all around the world and have stayed at some of the best hotels including the Burj Al Arab in Dubai (the only 7-star hotel in the world). Nizuc topped it all. I have been to Cancun several times, but have never stayed at Nizuc, given it's only been open for 3 years. The service was unlike any other. The employees treated every guest like royalty. Every employee took the time and effort to learn about their guests and how and where they spent their time each day tome the guests feel like they're at home. A butler was available 24/7 just for our tower and was so helpful with anything that you needed. The front desk and concierge were extremely helpful. The employees at the restaurants, pools, beach, and all throughout the resort were incredible. Their attention to detail and providing the utmost relaxing environment was truly amazing. Overall, the restaurants and food were amazing. The pools were incredible. Clean, peaceful, quiet, and gorgeous. The private beach (with free paddle boards, kayaks, snorkels at your disposal) was amazing. Their was always someone that jumped forward when you wanted something. The entire resort was stunning! It was decorated so beautifully and themed around relaxation and rejuvenation. The employees wanted you to have nothing to worry about. The rooms were amazing with huge balconies facing the ocean. Housekeeping replenished the goodies several times in the room including 4 bottles of Fiji water a day. There was also free Nespresso in the room. The rooms were in separate towers, which you got to with gold carts which were always available no matter where you were on the resort. Even if there wasn't one ready, an employee could get you one in less than 5 mins. Needless to say, EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING. Like I said, best resort I've ever stayed at. Sorry if this review was a little all over the place. I didn't re-read it and was too excited while writing it. Thanks again Nizuc for making my experience unforgettable. The most unreal resort I've EVER stayed in. Im a very frequent traveler. I have traveled all over the world, experienced different cities, resorts, and cultures. Nizuc is by far the BEST hotel i have ever stayed in thus far. I stayed at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai a few years ago and it is the only seven star hotel in the world so you would expect it to be top notch but I must say my experience at Nizuc surpassed my experience at Burj Al Arab. The service is out of this world. The employees bend over backwards to make sure that you are not thinking about anything but just relaxing. I would go to breakfast in the morning on the property and when I would pick up my food 4 people would walk to me and grab the food out of my hands so I wouldn't have to take my plate to my table from the buffet. They would be at your service every second. I felt like a queen. The people were so kind, the resort was extremely safe, serene, relaxing, and quiet. Every guest has a personal butler in there secluded properties. The butler is at your service 24/7. The restaurants on the property were so incredible and the food was fresh and to die for. The resort itself is unlike anything you have seen before. They have 4 pools a private beach with free paddle boards, kayaks, and snorkels. Its the best. You won't regret it. read more

This is a beautiful resort with very good service. The Las Brisa's management needs work. They are use to large hotels and their management style gets in the way at this smaller upscale venue. If they want to keep couples and small groups coming to this hotel they need to change their mindset of the profit driven theme of chasing the large groups at the expense of others. Otherwise their new venture into the upscale small hotel business will loose it's way. read more

Upon arrival the staff here makes everything very easy and comfortable. The service it top notch, and very accommodating. The resort itself is very nice and new, everything is detailed and up scale. The infinity pools are very nice, the food is very good. They have a variety of restaurants as well, such as ni - a peruvian restaurant and indochine - which is a indian chinese fusion restaurant. The rooms were very comfortable, we had an ocean view room which had a great view. Only slight downside was the prices. It was expensive, but you get what you pay for. read more

Just came back from a weekend at this resort. WOW! I will rate this place in the top four resorts I have ever seen. Amazing architecture, beautiful rooms, great restaurants, a great bar with a Havana theme, and great private beach and pool. Food and service was great. Also a great location. Close to the airport and away from the heavy traffic, this hotel is before you get to the less exclusive and highly congested part of Cancun. Whatever your idea of Cancun is, this resort will redefine that experience. I could come here often for sure. read more

If I could give more stars I definitely would!! This might even top the experience I had at the Ritz Carlton Hong Kong (see review)! There is so much to do on this property, really no need to leave. The beach is amongst the best hotel beach in Cancún. It is in a cove so there is no strong currents and safe for the kids. There are 6 dining establishments on the premises though they are a little pricey, they are excellent! I had the best Mojito ever from the beachside bar/grill (do not know the name of it), they also make outstanding fish tacos there. Restaurant Ni had an amazing Mango Ceviché. The kids club/daycare is great with lots of activities for the kids. They have a ping pong table, wading pool, Wii U, several daily activities too. The property's landscape is perfect, from the mangroves to the foliage and flora, it is spectacular. The accommodations were incredible as well, I have several pics too. The included snorkeling was a great touch at the pier that is at the end stretch of the property. There is a private bar/beach for adults only that looked really nice too. This resort was phenomenal. Hands down the best resort I have ever stayed at. I had the pleasure of staying in the garden pool villa suite. Beautiful,wonderful,joyful are just some words that i can think of to describe this place. Everyone in the Cancun area is familiar with the resort. The airport transportation asked where we were staying and once i told him his eyes lit up "you have chosen one of Cancun's best". When we arrived i was blown away,the scenery is breath taking. We were welcomed with fresh juice and cold towels to cool off with. The hotel staff were so polite each and everyone of them always smiling and they have a unique signature gesture called "heart to heart" when ever you pass by any staff employee they hold their heart and nod at you. Its so adorable and very welcoming. After a few hrs you we got the hang of it and we were following along with the staff. My room was the best ever. We had a private pool,outside shower,inside shower,soaking bath,spacious his and hers bathroom .Everyday he staff came to check on us.Not once have i ever ever ever stayed in a hotel and didn't have to ask for extra towels or when was room service coming. They checked on us hourly, we received calls making sure we were ok and asking us how are day was. Im not over exaggerating about this place is so romantic and beautiful and when i return to Cancun i will stay again. I would like to give a special thanks to Annette and Carlos they went above and beyond to help me with an excursion that i booked through an outside vendor that never was reserved. They were always nice and smiling at me and their great attitudes stood out the most. read more

This was the most wonderful experience I've ever had at a hotel. They have so much staff that every possible need is taken care of. Everyone is so pleasant and accommodating and in the four days I was there I was never once disappointed. If I could give this hotel 10 stars I would. Possibly the nicest staff at any resort. Every person - from the chefs to the waiters to the receptionists to the drivers - are unbelievably kind and friendly. You should definitely try to take advantage of everything Nizuc offers: the excursions, all of the restaurants, the water sports, and everything else. We have been here a week and could easily stay another and still not get enough. I travel a lot and go to a resort at least once a year and rarely ever go back to the same place. I was held hostage when checking out I did not know in Mexico you need to sign your paperwork before leaving the hotel and they need to charge your credit card on hand instead of anyone telling me this when I was pulling out of the gate guess what happen they would not allow me to leave I was put in hostage situation with my wife and my son Three men came to the front it was a manager into valet they asked me to come to the front with them immediately before leaving the hotel I told him let my family go as if I was in a movie before I will sign anything they let them leave I go up to the front desk my bill is more than expected the manager said oh here let me lower your bill for you for all your trouble I said I don't care what the issue is let me sign and get out of here they knew they messed up they sent me an email apologizing and telling me that they would love to have me back at the resort please if you're traveling abroad understand that this is Mexico and the laws are a lot different and the manager told me himself they would come to the airport and get the money if they had to I do not recommend staying at this hotel it could've been handled a lot different and it's more like the cartel than a hotel read more
