Rooms: Solid! Housekeeping does a good job and the temperature adjustment works pretty well. We stayed here about a week ago and were satisfied with the cleanliness of the rooms overall. Food: Lowkey not amazing amazing, but if you're someone that doesn't like to drink a lot or care too much about how fine the protein is that you are putting in your mouth this place isn't that bad for the price. The sushi bar is pretty great (I stuffed myself with the Salmon and Tuna), and their virgin drinks are decent too,. My friends did take issue though with the fact that some of their drinks, especially when they melted, just became a watery syrup coagulation. The grill is decent, and if you can, definitely get a reservation at the restaurants offered by this resort that require them (both Veneto and the other restaurant or two are really solid). It's honestly just the buffet that's a bit of a let down but for the price, I feel like one cannot complain that much, especially because your stay covers you up until the next evening (even though you have to check out at 11pm) Location: On the more southern end of the hotel zone, so I think it could be better for someone to choose a more northern location if they are more interested in the clubs up north and also the ferries that go to Isla Mujeres. Service: Incredibly disappointing service at the front desk. We literally wanted to get our bags that were sitting out in the open and they took almost half an hour to get the bellman over to us even though we had been sitting there and followed up with the receptionist twice. We did not get the 2 rooms we paid for that were to be joined--we ended up 4 floors apart. The rooms were dated and had a musky and moldy smell. Food was the same every meal. There were bed bugs in the room next to ours! We were continuously woken up by other loud guests at 2, 3 and 4 in the morning. Our 8 year old son got severe food poisoning from a burger that wasn't cooked properly at the Italian Restaurant Marco Polo and missed 2 days of the vacation. Got stuck multiple times on various elevators around the resort. They are broken and go slow or shake or the doors don't open. Hot water not working in our room. Fridge not working in our room. All the pool seats are taken by 7:30 am with people's beach towels leaving no chairs to sit or lounge by the pool and minimal shade. Nothing restocked in rooms, we had to request toilet paper at the front desk. Multiple drunken fights near the pool over the days we stayed there. When we asked at the front desk we were told "we are at 98% capacity, what do you expect us to do about this?" Only 3 pros--family friendly and close to the airport, the shows were good... does not make up for everything else. Would not recommend and would not come here again. At the beginning it was good. Staff were friendly and room was good. I paid for amo cena view. Didn't get it. Got a "lake view" cause the ocean view is only for members. Drinks were really watered down. Food had no taste. Could not go to a restaurant unless you had a previous appointment. There were 6 of us and no one said anything nice about the experience. They asked us to go for a visit around both resorts but it was to sell us timeshares. They will ask you to show what kind of credit cards you have so they can get "points" but in reality, it's just so they know you have credit and can afford to buy the timeshare from them. The rooms aren't fancy but they are comfortable and cleaned and restocked with water and drinks daily. We stayed here 3 nights. There were many things I did enjoy. Great views, friendly check in staff, lots of food, fun night entertainment. Issues with the place including the building itself. Elevators constantly breaking down and being super slow. Hot tub outside the room jets didn't work. Someone came to fix them but they only worked again for a few minutes then stopped working again. Bathroom lights shock you when you turn them on. Shower drips water out all over the floor. Room 1112 door doesn't close properly. You have to make sure to slam it or it stays open. Theater is super hot and chairs are uncomfortable. Worst thing of all though is the workers in the lobby trying to convince you to join their club. It's pretty harassing and when we said we were not interested the guy talking to us got super angry which I found to be very unprofessional. Also, inclusive resort but beach towels cost money which is weird. For 300 a night you would think we could have a towel. read more

Our balcony is terrible!! They are doing construction on the balcony 2 floors up and all the debris from the construction has fallen on our balcony and I cut my foot. Management doesn't seem to care. We have been a member for almost 30 years and that's how they are treating us. I've stayed at this place 2 other times before but this past time 12/9-12/16 was by far the worst. They had many changes to the hotel, the staff was not very helpful, and when we went to go to the pool bar we requested for a group of 3 of us to get the "rainbow shot" and they told us no because it was going to make other people order it also and they didn't want to do all that work. Besides the 3 of us at the pool bar there was another group of 5 people. Considering we payed for all inclusive and they wouldn't make us the drinks we wanted we left. As a woman with my partner and sister, I felt insulted with their rudeness and lack of understanding on the matter. Absolutely unequivocably the worst resort. I've stayed at in Mexico. The staff are extremely rude. They show preferential treatment to those that "appear "to speak Spanish. For example, when I walk by the front desk, people looked at me and then continue to do what they normally do. When my wife, who wasn't with me the first time, walked by with me, less than one minute later, everyone set up and spoke to her in Spanish (assuming she spoke Spanish). The food is horrible. The food is bountiful, but lacks any authenticity, taste, or quality. The lines were always extremely long. The room service was probably the worst situation of all. I ordered a club sandwich. There was one single slice of meat on the sandwich and it did not have bacon... Despite the fact that I asked for extra bacon. In the cafeteria/restaurant area, the beverages tasted more like concentrate. The pool area is poorly maintained. There was little to no chlorine in it. The skimmers were not running. This is a family resort, I wish I would've known that before I selected to stay here. That being said, people allow their children to run rampant all day. The resort should not allow children to be in all areas... There should be an adult/family area. Or, they should mandate that children under certain age cannot be alone. Since this is a family resort, they should consider instituting a dress code. Thongs and G strings and sunbathing do not mix well with the children's play area. read more

DO NOT STAY at Royal Solaris or GR Solaris Cancun. This was the most infuriating, unprofessional, and distressing experience of our lives. We paid in full to stay at Royal Solaris, but due to intolerable noise levels, poor soundproofing, and unsafe conditions, we were forced to relocate to GR Solaris--a hotel that is NOT suitable for families with children. This was done without our consent, no refund offered, and absolutely no acknowledgment of their failure to provide the contracted services. Despite sending 8 detailed emails outlining these complaints, we have a 20-minute recording of guest services blatantly admitting they ignored them. Why? Because they know they're liable for breaching the Mexican Consumer Protection Laws (Articles 7, 7 BIS, and 32) and owe us a full refund. Instead of resolving the issue, they LIED, claiming we requested the move. Why on earth would we ask to be relocated to a hotel with constant construction noise six days a week from a nearby site, especially with a 3-year-old child? Their claim is absurd, as our emails clearly document our outrage over being forced to move. If we had truly requested the move, why did they ignore our emails instead of asking why we were unhappy? Their silence clearly exposes their fear of admitting fault and facing the consequences. The conditions at both hotels were atrocious. The food was the same every single day, repetitive, unhealthy, and often recycled from previous meals. It was entirely unsuitable for children and disgusting for adults. Safety was nonexistent: a hairdryer exploded, there was no running water, the elevator malfunctioned constantly, and a drunk guest attempted to break into our room while the staff failed to act. Basic hygiene was ignored, as we had to repeatedly request for our room to be cleaned. The hotel falsely markets itself as family-friendly, but GR Solaris was anything but. Loud parties, a lack of amenities for children, and construction noise made it clear they had no regard for our situation. The so-called "good reviews" must be fake or written by relatives of the staff because no reasonable guest would ever describe this hellhole as acceptable. The management is deceitful, unresponsive, and lacks any professionalism. We are now pursuing legal action through PROFECO for a full refund and compensation for the stress, disruption, and outright theft we experienced. Royal Solaris and GR Solaris Cancun represent everything that's wrong with the hospitality industry: dishonest, unsafe, and unfit for purpose. So having read some of the previous yelp reviews, I had very low expectations, but I had booked this hotel through Armed Forces vacation club and I was very excited to check it out! The week I was leaving I found out my dad had been here with his girlfriend, three years ago, and had a great time and went on lots of the excursions. From the minute we landed at the Cancun international airport to finding our hotel guide at the airport and the shuttle here everything went very smoothly. Upon check-in the baggage man took our bags to the room for a small tip, and it did take a while to check in, but everyone was very nice. We will find out more about what's available tomorrow when the RCI shop is open from 9 AM to 6 PM however, we were excited to try the dinner buffet at the hotel tonight which once again, exceeded our expectations with fabulous service and amazing local dishes. I was especially excited to be able to eat cactus, Mexican pumpkin, and fresh tamarind juice. The next morning we returned for breakfast and my husband and two kids ate to their hearts content. I enjoyed some fresh, tropical fruit, tropical yogurt, fresh concha, and fresh squeezed watermelon juice most mornings. I am in tropical heaven and I can't wait to go to the pool today. Did I mention the view from our fourth floor room?! Amazing!! Last night once the kids were in bed, I went down to the discotheque area by the bar and it was so fun with live music, people dancing, free drinks, and probably five generations of people hanging out. My only complaints have been the noise from the women cleaning the rooms at 0800 every morning waking us up. My kids favorite parts of the trip was infinite food and drinks without asking adults including late night room service cheeseburgers. My husband loved the swim up bar at the big pool. There is an extremely secure kids' club with activities & water slides. I recommend having $20 peso bills to tip to most of the folks like bartenders, baggage, housekeepers, pizza cooks, etc. they have a lower hourly wage here so they live off the tips they make at the hotel, although you don't have to tip. The food at the restaurants, housekeeping service, RCI Perks, service overall, and views/ambience were exceptional. We could have done without the timeshare sales pitch. We were more interested before the presentation because it was too aggressive for us. We went to the spa twice for Couples relaxing massage & I went for a Mexican massage. I don't think anyone should loose their minds IF something goes off center bubble at ANY FAST FOOD PLACE ....That said, the food quality has really taken a few steps backwards. A lot of loose meat being served now... One of the things I really loved there was their Breakfast. MY go to was making my own Huevos Con w/ instead of Chorizo. I would use their link or Patti Sausage ... They had all the sauces one could put on it...Yum....Well hell, we were there for 7 days last year ..NO LINK OR PATTI SAUSAGE EVER SHOWED UP ..I GUESS STUFFING FOLKS WITH PANCAKES is a way to get an edge over meat cost ...It's those little things they need to pay attention too. read more

This hotel is absolutely fantastic. The facilities are well kept and clean. Aside from the beautiful facilities, the staff is beyond amazing from the check in with Fredy, Gustavo in the buffet to Florencio in the resturaunt Bogavante. Luz making poolside pizzas (she was the reason we returned this time), the spa staff was amazing and pool side waitresses were fantastic. On our last day we met Javier, definitely a leader. We were having a conversation and he told us about some menu items coming soon and mentioned Chilies en Nogada. I mentioned I was saddend to be leaving in about a hour because these chilies are my favorite. Javier made something happen and he, Luz and another chef met me at check out with none other than a Chilie en Nogada along with fresh cut fruit with Chamoy for my daughter. The good, the bad, and the Ok! The Good - I met some amazing people, the pool area is beautiful and the breakfast/lunch was filling. The Bad - there were only two elevators that take you from hotel floors to the lobby. Pre Covid I might not have cared, but I think everyone is skeptical of packing into an elevator like a clown car! The hotel had a lot of stairs... for me that was great, because I got my steps in, but for seniors or someone on crutches etc, you have to do multiple stairs to do pretty much everything and they are a little pushy on selling the member package. The OK - the hotel needed a little bit of maintenance some of the doors to the pool were wonky and really hard to open, the sink in my room took 4 mins to drain and lastly the lobby was tiny! Here is a honest review for those like me who rely on them to help make choices lol. Pros: -The staff was wonderful! -We had no trouble getting dinner reservations, however you do have to make them in person from 930am-3pm daily. -Rosemarinus 10/10. If you missed getting a reservation somewhere, go here. -Sushi was decent, could offer something other than crab and fried fish though. -Pizza was decent. -Venetos (Italian @ GR Caribe) was hands down the best meal we had. -Bogavante-- we went for dinner and lunch. Cerviche and fish tacos at lunch were great, top sirloin was over cooked and not worth it. The mixteca steak at dinner was again over cooked and dinner overall wasn't anything special. -Marco Polo was decent however the steak and veal were over cooked and 1 of the 3 desserts (pineapple cake) tasted like it was soaked in water before it was served. We went on our last night and I walked away wishing we would have just went to Veneto again. -Drink service on the beach and around the pool was great, we never had any issues. -You have access to GR Caribe next door. Honestly I think overall amenity wise Royal Solaris is better but they do have two nice restaurants that you can make reservations for and the pool is way more laid back if that's your vibe. I did not see the rooms at this location. -We easily avoided the timeshare people and wasn't approached a single time for a meeting. However we did talk to several happy members. -The Broadway show succeeded our expectations, we really enjoyed it. However the comedy show wasn't at all what we expected but we sat through it all since it was something to do. That's the only two we were able to make it to. -Clean towels, freshly made beds, trash was always dumped and pickup of room service dishes happened daily. Cons: -When we checked in, no one gave us the details of the property, the nightly show/entertainment schedule, and no one pointed out how to connect to the WiFi which we ended up having to call and ask. -Room service food was always cold, took usually 30-40 minutes from ordering. Definitely the lowest quality food option but it's 24/7. Breakfast is only available from 7am-12pm so if you leave for an early morning tour, food is from lunch menu. -Pools get crowded quick and chairs can be hard to come by but we were able to catch people leaving often. A lot of people put towels out early in the morning to save spots. -You'll here every room door slam when it happens. And if you have neighbors, you'll hear them too. The walls are thin. -Shuttle service not included, $16 per person each way. The bellhop will also help with scheduling taxis but again a very pricy option to get around. $25 for taxi drop off to the airport which was cheaper than riding the shuttle for 2 people. -Location: it's far from the "downtown" area of the hotel zone. There's really nothing in walking distance. Luckily the city bus is right out front, cheap and easy to navigate. -Hotel style rooms, no balcony, very basic amenities, dated. I had higher expectations for a "resort". Apparently the "fancy" rooms go to members first. -Towels are super rough-- apparently members get the nice plush towels from what we were told (from a member). -No currency exchange available-- again you have to go to the prime area in the hotel zone. There is an ATM that distributes pesos, with no choice of denominations. The front desk wouldn't break any bills into smaller ones, most of the time. -Other than tacos and fajitas from the buffets, there's not any traditional Mexican food onsite. You can get a few items from Cafe Solaris at GR Caribe, which is not open for dinner. COVID protocols: -Schedule your covid test early and make sure you have your passport on you when you make it. -Unless you booked your stay by 11/27/21, it's $10 per person. However, we heard someone else ask about the free tests that was previously offered and they stated that changed after 11/27. -Many resorts are offering free quarantine stay if you happen to test positive. Solaris is not. It's in the fine print that you get free transportation to a different hotel (no location given) with a free 3 night stay and free breakfast. Lunch and dinner cost 60 pesos daily. And I'm assuming the additional quarantine time is at your expense. -Masks we're strictly enforced in the eating locations both outside and inside. Most people walking around wore them, and in the theater majority of people were wearing them consistently. Overall this is a budget friendly all inclusive option that truly isn't that bad compared to the various reviews. We like variety so we'd probably try out another resort in the future (maybe adults only because kids aren't our cup of tea) BUT we wouldn't be mad if we stayed here again. It's nice to have access to GR Caribe next door and if you're up for a short walk you can visit GR Caribe Deluxe as well. The hotel style basic room and not being walking distance to the good stuff was the biggest downsides. read more

We came because we had a time share here and it seemed like great plan. The location was amazing.. the staff and the views were so nice!! The food for most part was pretty good.. something for everyone on the buffets. The entertainment was good for most part.. some of the shows are better than others but the staff always puts their best foot forward! Angel in the members bar was top notch with getting a drink to the customer and refilling without even being asked! That man deserves a raise! It's all inclusive so you never have to leave the resort to eat. We had a small fridge with stock of water, few sodas, a few Coronas.. nice when you first arrive! They have lots of great excursions to great locations like ruins and ceynotes.. snorkeling tours.. there's a bud you can take into town runs like every 30 min. It's a public bus so you just walk to sidewalk and pay 1$ per person and it goes all over. read more

LISTEN to me when I tell you this. This hotel took multiple years off my life. I've never met more incompetent people sharing one space. I consider myself a patient person but this hotel has truly tested all of my limits. The room keys don't work, so you do what any guest would do you go downstairs to reception to fix the key. No big deal. I go downstairs get to the receptionists, problem fixed. I make my way back up to my room try the card it doesn't work, again. Repeat the process make it in to my room for the night. this would not have been a big deal if it didn't occur two more times the following day. You go to a hotel with your family you want to eat dinner, completely reasonable ask. At this hotel? forget it. The app doesn't work. The ability to find someone to make a reservation? no one exists. I stayed here for 5 nights in mid-July. I was originally slated for the GR Caribe but was upgraded to the Royal and grateful for it! We got a room with a patio and jacuzzi on it, so I was super excited about that. The food throughout the hotel is decent; some spots are better than others. The food at the sit down restaurants was definitely better than the buffet food. Service was pretty good at the sit downs, and the eating areas were mostly clean. The alcohol situation is spotty! There are several bars between the Royal and the Caribe, right next door, and some are better than others. The pool bar at the royal is crappy! Service is not good and drinks are the weakest there. NOT A SAFE PLACE, THREATENED TO CALL POLICE ON SIX GIRLS AND BABY! We made these hotel reservations in august. It was my five sisters, me, and my sixth month year old nephew. We reserved two rooms. Upon arrival they told us they were almost fully booked up and could not give us the rooms that we had booked months prior. Then after we had been there for about thirty minutes (already received our wristbands and in our rooms), they called up and told us we had not paid enough money and it would be $150 extra per person. Two girls went down, talked to them, and fixed it. So we thought. We ate dinner and then went up to our room around nine so the baby could sleep. At 11:45 they called our room and said if we don't come down now and pay more money they were calling the police. I went down with another girl and talked to them. They claimed they were calling us now because they had not been able to reach us, but we had been in our room all night. We asked to speak to a manager and the manager came out and yelled, YELLED "you pay money or I call police" and he grabbed the phone and started to dial. I immediately handed over my card. After we paid, they were still angry, mad, and annoyed at us. They did not seem satisfied. My sister and I went back to the room and we locked the door. We were worried they were still going to call the police or barge in. WE DID NOT FEEL SAFE! We had early flights the next day, but barely slept throughout the night because of fear and stress. DO NOT STAY HERE! You weren't allowed to swim in the ocean because of "bad" conditions (check picture for the said conditions), half-assed watered down drinks, and the food wasn't even good. They had terrible options for food and terrible drinks. We did not feel safe, we did not feel cared for, and we were yelled at. read more

If you are looking for a budget friendly but fun place then this is not such a bad choice. The best thing is that the staff are very friendly and hardworking. The worst part is that the rooms have paper thin walls. Our room next door - the people are not even that loud but you can hear everything they say- like even just talking on the phone or even closing the door- you can hear everything they say. We had to turn on the TV to drown the noise. I has never stayed in a hotel where you can actually hear every single word said next door. Dinner and breakfast are good but lunch and food by the pool are really bad- they do have good pizza . Where do I start... So, it was a girl's trip, (3) of us & we decided to book a last-minute trip, just to get away on the fly. This resort made the cut because it was budget friendly and the reviews seemed decent, THEY LIED!! We stayed (4) days, (3) nights. Arriving to the hotel at check-in, we couldn't go to the room right away because we got there early, so we grabbed a bite to eat at the pool open buffet. (Burgers, sushi, rice, chicken flings) Now the staff was trying to have everyone interact with the pool games, but we should have known that THIS would be the ONLY fun thing about this resort. ROOMS: -We had the ocean view double bed. -The mini bar bottle rack was empty; we were told it was only for MEMBERS. EVERYTHING good including premium LQ on this trip was ONLY FOR MEMBERS! The mini bar fridge had (2) waters, (1) sprite, (1) coke. -The toilet was clogged up & the tile in the bathroom shower was falling in. We asked for an upgrade, we would pay the difference, they said the upgrade was only for MEMBERS. We were moved to another room, same floor opposite end of the hall. The 2nd room had a weird smell, but we managed. TIMESHARE: We agreed to do the member tour for the gifts that came with it, we declined the timeshare however, we still received (3) massages & a discount for beach photos. The massage parlor was completely booked for the week, so we informed our guide & he gave us a "free" bottle of Don Julio. EXCURSIONS: We did the excursions. The tequila tasting is 15 minutes then they try to get you to buy souvenirs, fake silver & tequila. The ride to the Cenote is about (45) minutes but you are there for (3) hours waiting on the other groups to finish their excursions. We did the ziplining ($30pp), it was fun but the stairs to climb the trees were very shaky. CHECK OUT: As we were checking out, they informed us we had a balance of $38, for the Don Julio. I informed them the gentleman gifted us that due to the lack of availability at the Spa. They stated that the bottle had to be signed off on and it's locked up with a key so he got permission that we would pay for it. It was a disaster and the icing on the cake to confirm this trip was a disaster. FOOD/DRINKS: This resort is ran down & they rely on the members to keep them afloat. If you aren't a member, you are treated regular. The drinks are WATERED down, even if you order 4 drinks you feel NOTHING. You basically have to order a shot to feel any buzz. The buffet was nasty, and the restaurants require reservations which are completely booked out. Do not book here there are plenty of resorts in the strip. read more

Just finished our family stay here for my dads birthday. 2nd time at the Solaris resorts but this time as a "member". All I can say is it was a disappointing experience overall. If you have a reservation already made be prepared upon arrival to get harassed into becoming one of their "members". They will over promise you with many "free" trips and perks in exchange for your time. DONT DO IT - we were manipulated into a 10 year contract. Here is what their joke membership includes: - 1 1/2 premium bar in the whole resort with limited selection of drinks. They are only open from 3pm- 10pm after that your stuck with water down, cheap rubbing alcoholic drinks. - 1 private dinner for members only where they recycle the buffet food but present it as gourmet. They thought they had us fooled lol. - 1 "complimentary" excursion, lowest tier service. But they give you an option to upgrade for $$ and if that doesn't have you dropping money, they make sure to take you to their designated "jewelry and tequila tasting" to get other salesmen to Harass you even more before they take you to enjoy your cheap 15 minute excursion - where they upsell you even more giving you no option but to drop money or you will literally not have fun. However Be prepared to spend more time dodging salesmen then then the actual excursion. MEMBER ROOMS: A JOKE we have spent so much money on this useless membership we would expect the rooms to be top tier, but they were a joke. I saw regular all inclusive guest with better rooms (w jacuzzi even and balcony) Don't even ask about the food. It was the worst part. As a member you would expect better quality food but it was terrible. The same 5 bland options in every restaurant, we just stop making reservations because they enforced us to show up with suit and ties for the same food they had in the buffet - literally. I feel terrible that my parents got lured into this 10 year contract, but once I get home we are going straight to a lawyer for breech of contract on their behalf. The workers (food staff , cleaning lady's, bartenders) great people. But this resort is terrible, boring, tons of kids everywhere, room malfunctions, no private transportation, hospital food, and worse of all, if your thinking of becoming a member, do yourself a favor and leave your wallet at home. The amount we've dropped in this hotel we could've saved and gone somewhere high class, member worthy, cancel your reservation trust me, if your on a budget and that's why your coming here, it will cost you a hell lot more. read more

Good all round resort. We had a great time here... the location is great... the beach is wonderful, plenty to see and watch - although very choppy when we were there.. life guards always on watch.. The pool area was good, however not enough sunbeds or chairs....the staff were fantastic always friendly helpful and pleasant. The food was also good - always warm and fresh. The pizza place does fantastic pizzas all made fresh within 5 minutes, also the sushi was surprisingly good for just plainish rolls....I loved the outdoor restaurant in the tiki hut, such a pleasant place to sit and watch the beach below...the night time entertainment each night is also fantastic... 5/5 - funny, entertaining, fabulous dancers... definitely a perk to this hotel, as most all inclusive entertainment is usually dire! read more

My family of 4 adults and two children came here in mid-February. All in all, we really enjoyed ourselves. We were given access to both the Royal Solaris and GR Caribe properties so we were able to get a taste of both venues. GR Caribe is a little more upscale than the Royal Solaris but the Royal Solaris has a lot more to do, their beach area is better and the pool area is by far the best. If you are with kids and like to swim, go with the Royal. If you are an adult couple and you don't really mind swimming and want a quieter environment, go GR Caribe. Not the fanciest place we have stayed at but we came with kids and were not looking for that. Pros Location - The beach was great and one of the nicest lots around us. You are about a 15 minute walk away from Playa Delphines, which is supposed to be one of the best beaches in Cancun. Other places we walked to had a tiny lot or steep ridge on their beach, not here. You are also about 4-5 miles out from the central hub of the Hotel Zone so it is a little more reserved and quiet. You can still get to the Hotel Zone though by bus in about 10 minutes. You are also able to walk to a few interesting locations like El Rey in only 15-20 minutes. Pool Snacks and Lunch - Brick oven fired pizza, fresh made sushi and a large selection of comfort food classics like Chicken Wings, Burgers, Fries, Onion Rings, and Ribs were served poolside or close to the pool and beach. We usually went with this option for lunch. Service - The staff are all very friendly and hard working. We had no issues with any staff members. All of them were happy to serve and welcome you into the resort. Kid Friendly - This resort is a great resort for kids. They have a big Kid Zone with separate pool that our children loved playing in. They also have a room with toys, video games, and movies. In the buffet, they have a little selection of kid favorites like Chicken Nuggets, Fries, and Sandwiches (adults were over there a lot too). The staff were also very patient and friendly towards our children, many of them going out of their way to say hello or give a friendly five. Entertainment - The nightly shows that we made it to were great. Each one was unique and different so that you never saw the same show twice. The dancing was well choreographed and the entertainers were very friendly and fun. Breakfast and Buffet - Breakfasts here were great. Made to order omelets, pancakes, French toast, etc. with a large selection of fruit, sides, and drinks. If you want bacon, make sure to request it for your table. Dinners could be hit or miss here but usually there was something to eat. For buffet food, it was pretty good. Pool - The pool was amazing. The pool never seemed overcrowded since it was so big. Sections were partitioned to help stem the flow of people into pools as well. Separate area for kids to play in as well as a fun kid water park. Mehs (The not so great) Drinks - Pretty watered down with some tasting "off". There was a large menu to pick from though so we were able to find ones that we liked. You can also call a few name brand products if you see them on the shelf like Bacardi or Jack Daniels. Formal Dining - The food was hit and miss and the service just took way too long. Some nights we were in the restaurant for almost two hours. It didn't help that we had a squirrelly two year old who didn't want to sit that long. Seafood - The fish they had was usually very good but that was about it. Shrimp, crab, etc. were hard to find and very minimal if served in something. I will say that on Asian Night they had huge scallops at the Stir Fry Station that were excellent. Royal Solaris Hot Tub - The view was nice but the tub was never really that warm. It also closes way too early since our family likes to sit out at night and watch the waves. The hot tubs at the GR Caribe were way nicer and hotter. Internet - We paid for Wifi while staying at the property. Unless you were sitting in the lobby, the Wifi was spotty at best (and we opted to get the premium service, the basic must be dial up slow). Day 10 at this resort and we have not had air conditioning for 5 of those days in our room. We are at 25.5 degrees Celsius. I beg you if you want to stay here be prepared to sweat in places you didn't know it was possible to sweat there. 13 phone calls to the front desk, maintenance, housekeeping to no avail. I'm ready to check out and stay at the nearest Motel 6 in Cancun. At least they should have air conditioning. Pasadena on this place. read more

Stayed six nights at the Royal Solaris. Overall had a great stay except for a few minor things. The staff here really do make sure you're taken care of and provide amazing service. As other reviewers have stated the members definitely get better service. But it's not that they're discriminating against you as a non-member. It's simply that the members visit the Royal Solaris multiple times a year and so the employees know them by first name. Rooms: The rooms are nice, they're comfortable and housekeeping did a great job daily. However, what grants the 1-star review is the fact that they all have a conjoining room. This means two doors (~3-5 inches) separate you from your neighbors and you hear EVERYTHING. You don't even want to say your hotel safe code out loud because your neighbors will be able to hear any conversation you have. Also, you may want to scoot the coffee table in front of the door in case your neighbors try messing with your door handle in the middle of the night like mine as the conjoining rooms are separated only by a single door knob key lock (no deadbolt). All Inclusiveness: The alcohol is fantastic! Never too strong, never not enough. The bartenders all pour great drinks. The drink menu is limited though and you primarily have to stick to that menu. The food is great at all the restaurants that require reservations. These restaurants are "sit down" 3-course meal style and much better than the hotel buffets. We ate at Veneto, Marco Polo, and Bogavante (twice). The menus are small but do change nightly so you can always go back and not feel compelled to get the same food item. Armando was our waiter at Bogavante the last night of our trip and he was fantastic! The hotel buffets were pretty gross except for breakfast... its probably a personal preference but to me all the food was super oily and greasy. The choices were clearly catered to those visiting from Central/south America. We grew tired of the buffet food rather quickly and opted for the reservation restaurants for the remaining dinners of our trip. The poolside snack bars are good, especially the wood-fired pizza oven alongside the larger pool. The snack bars consisted of nachos, french fries, onion rings, and hamburgers. These were a nice change of pace from the hotel restaurant buffets which smells nauseated me every time I walked by them. Language: You're going to want to learn the basics of Spanish. Many of the service staff speak broken English. You will be able to get your point across but do yourself and the employees a favor and learn basic Spanish communication words. Resort Location: It's one of the first resorts on the south side of the Hotel Strip. It has a nice beach and views of the ocean. There are multiple access points from the hotel to the beach. There's a marina on the lagoon side that you are able to use for things like kayaking, paddle boarding, and windsurfing, but never really did see people venturing across the busy highway to go to it. Between the Royal Solaris and the GR Caribe by Solaris (Next Door Hotel they share the property) the Caribe definitely has a more Caribbean aesthetic and I think if we were to go back, we would stay there instead. read more

I really like the pool and the family feel of the resort. I felt the room are very clean and the staff is very very polite. What I was not a big fan of was the taste of the food. It seem very bland in general, with the exception of the Marco Polo restaurant. Also, when you order mixed drinks, they seem to have a lot of sugar in them or some weird aftertaste like it has Splenda in it. I would recommend you ask for a higher quality liquor and mixer. For example the best I could get was Captain Morgan spiced rum with Pepsi. It was a lot better than your standard rum with cranberry. Overall it is a good value and safe. This is my second time here in the past two years. I stayed at the sister property next door in 2022. read more

They blamed my allergies, then admitted they forgot to put the order in. My cousin slipped and hit her head - signs were hidden. People got food poisoning from the sushi. Bottom shelf liquor watered down. Lack of healthy options at the buffets. Terrible signage, well - incomplete. VERY easy to get lost. I will say the people are friendly. The lack of urgency for anything is cultural, so no offense taken. Cancun 5 stars, Royal Solaris? Not again. Hope we don't have more issues before we check out. Just... Don't. Ever. read more

DO NOT TRUST ANYONE THERE! I stayed there from 2/20-2/25 and let me tell you my experience was not pleasant at all. Upon arrival we handed our keys to valet and the next day they return the car damaged and didn't want to take responsibility. I asked to speak to a manager but that person its not existent at that place. At first we were very understanding but after 3 consecutive days trying to get someone to take responsibility that was clearly not an option. I ended up calling their local law enforcement but due to being given the wrong address by their security they never arrived. Manuel from front desk was an absolute ass and was so condescending instead of being apologetic and understanding. He could care less to help us get our issue resolved . I would NOT recommend staying at a place like this, after the altercations didn't feel safe there anymore. Imagine if anything from your room gets missing , they will find anyway to say it wasn't them. These people are the worst of the worst. Reservation's for their "restaurants" are non existent , their food is bland and room service is a joke. Also unless you're willing to throw money at the serves by the pool they won't ever offer anything. read more

Today I arrived in Cancun, Mexico with my family of 18. I usually hate traveling in big groups because i tend to be the most stress, and always s handle all of the processing and talking to the employees. the resort is 15 minute drive from the airport! when you first get off the plane or step outside, you are literally instantly hit with a heat wave LMAO IT WAS GROSS, some people like that heat feeling but i love the cold. ANYWAYS, as we drive up to the resort in our shuttle. we were instantly greeted by all of them bell boys and they asked for our help right away. they were very consistent with carrying our bags and bussing. after that... we went to check-in, they did not have our rooms for ready yet and we had to wait another hour before we could get it, that's what they told us. so after a hour pass by, we went back to the lobby to check if our rooms were ready. only 2 were, the other 2 rooms were not and they decided to upgrade my aunties and her daughters to a master suite. the front desk told us that it would be 2 king beds and 2 sofa beds. 2 rooms in one resort room. we also had to wait another hour before getting this room as well. when we got there... the room was beautiful with a balcony, but i only saw one king bed, and a pull out mattress from the wall. there was a couch as well but it was not what we were expecting. the normal hotel beds are pretty comfortable, the pull out bed ones are hard AS BRICKS. the couches are more comfy than the pull out wall mattresses I DO NOT RECOMMEND. the walls in the room are very thin, i can hear the chair from upstairs moving back and forth also food steps and conversations. also each floor has 4 cameras plus, at all or the elevators and stairs. the food here is all you can eat and free for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! you need reservations to eat at all the restaurants! wine bottles and fancy food such as lobsters and steaks cost extra but if it's on the nights menu it is included in your stay! let's be real! the food is a hit or miss honestly. the food at all you can eat restaurant in the lobby, is very bland, or too salty. drinks have no labels so you don't know what is what unless you ask or try it. i recommend the orange juice it is really good as well as the margaritas! i don't know what ingredients are in the juices though... i asked one of the workers and they said something and i did not know what she was talking about? then i was like is it real oranges? freshly squeezed? i won't think so but it was really good! the burgers, pizza are okay, nothing special. tacos are pretty good! steak is really good especially at marco polo! very buttery and tender! my brother ate three cause it was so good! the deserts are pretty good as well! internet service here sucks. very weak and poor, only enough to send text messages. service is amazing "at times". employees are very nice and 99% of the time speak english (-: read more

Our stay at the Royal Solaris wasn't all too pleasant. Overall this place is a 3 star hotel not really a 4.5 resort. It wasn't all bad but not the best time. COVID precautions: -none of the hand sanitizer kiosks are full -employees don't switch their gloves -glasses and plates were not as clean as they should be -swapped cups with other tables -hardly see them sanitize the tables or areas - was given already opened and used ketchup packets 2 members of our family tested positive. 1 a few days ago and another today. But their partners who were with them 24/7 and the other 8 people didn't. It's fishy that only 1 per family gets a positive but the rest of the family doesn't. I believe they are corrupt and "have" to give out at least a few positive tests to get more money out of us. They give you 3 free nights in the hotel next door but you have to pay for lunch and dinner. Each test costs over $100 after the initial test. They are HORRIBLE with communication about the tests and doctors and the doctor goes home super early so if you need anything like papers or notes GOOD LUCK! Rooms: -bathroom was small -walls are paper thin you can hear the next door people talking ans kids screaming -beds are super firm -view was amazing to the beach -fridge was nicely stocked -updated rooms Food: -all inclusive is $$$ and not worth what you get -room service menu is limited -have to wake up at the crack of dawn to do reservations for restaurants -was told they had different menus every night, was the same at the Italian place at caribe and Marco Polo at Solaris - food was a little bland -lots options at the Buffet but not that tasty Transportation: - took the bus to most places because the shuttles were $$ the bus is $1 usd per ride -was told the shuttle for the airport was $13.50 but it ended up being $45 each way Service: -Ana our concierge was amazing and super attentive. -Darvin and Reinhardt our waiters were amazing and really attentive towards us. Kept on asking how we were doing even when we weren't in their section -Nancy at the pool was super sweet and very attentive to our family -Humberto and William at the pool bar never stopped pouring for us and made the drinks amazing - front desk: not helpful and never around -members office: not helpful and kept on telling us to come back to schedule our covid test and they were never there when we came back 3x. Finally was able to schedule the test the day of we needed it - seemed like most of the workers hate their jobs and would rather be somewhere else. Overall: We wouldn't stay here again after all the trouble we had to go through just to stay here. Not comfortable and not nearly great as a 4-5 star resort. I dont know what other peoples experiences were here but it's not the best. We only got cheap rooms because we are RCI members but not worth your money! read more

I went here with my mom and we LOVED it for our girls trip! We felt safe the entire time, there was lots to do, there was SO much food, and the entertainment/staff were awesome! Here's some pointers! -99% of the staff speaks English so it won't be hard to communicate -They do have tours that you can book (worth it!) -You are right on the beach! -You are served breakfast, lunch (outside by the pool), and dinner! -Dinner is either a buffet or you can make free reservations for one of the fancy restaurants -Everynight dinner is a new theme! (Mexican, Italian, Asian, etc.) -The staff puts on a show everynight and they are so good! Go to the Mexican heritage one!! -Drinks are yummy! They're not very strong, but I mean... come on you're on vacation so take your time getting drunk! -HOT SHOWERS! -They have a "laguna" on the other side of the hotel were you can kayak, paddle boat, sail, etc. -Many activities like volleyball, contests, karaoke, etc. There is something to do everyday. -KID FRIENDLY! They even have their own pool with a water slide! This was my favorite resort in Cancun. It's not over priced, and it was worth it. Its clean, fun, and easy going! read more
