Probably the worst experience I've ever had with a medical professional, although he's the furthest…read morething from professional. I was referred to Dr Alam by my PCP. After calling his office I left a voicemail asking to return my call to schedule an appointment. I get a call back from the doctor on his personal cell. He asked me to text him all of my info so that he could have his staff see if my insurance was covered. After doing so he texted me back as if I was his staff. I let this go as we are all human but thought the whole thing was strange as usually a front office/secretary handles this but instead it seemed more like a two person office, him and a woman named April. He called back to schedule me and told me my copay for the visit would be $15(very clearly said 1-5). After being scheduled I had a Telehealth appointment with the doctor. He answered the zoom call with what sounded like a tv on in the background of his home and then set me down to stare at the ceiling while he searched for his AirPods. Again, I thought it was pretty unprofessional but brushed it off until he completely tried to disregard my concerns when explaining how I had been feeling which was obviously the reason for my visit. He quickly rattled off some medications to be prescribed without even explaining how they would help or anything about them and collected my card info for my copay. 2 weeks later I noticed a $150 charge on my card. I called to see if they had accidentally added a 0 when charging the $15 copay and again had to leave a message since their office doesn't answer during regular business hours. Instead of a call back I received a text from a person named April telling me that they have a $230 initial intake fee and that they charge their patients $150 in the event that their insurance doesn't pay. Mind you, she couldn't even spell my name correctly in the text. Upon speaking with my insurance company they told me the office never even filed a claim and that they never should have charged me anything more than my $15 copay. After having to make several attempts to speak with the office about this I finally spoke with April the front office and medical biller (maybe? Obviously not a trained medical biller if she is) and she told me they charge patients that because 9/10 times the insurance doesn't pay their intake fee. I told her they needed to refund me immediately because it's illegal to charge my card for an unauthorized amount which should have only been $15. 7 days later my card was finally refunded the difference of my copay and then they filed the claim with my insurance. Well, my insurance paid even though she told me they likely wouldn't. I truly feel like I was charged the amount rather than them just billing the insurance with the claim which is illegal. I highly recommend taking your mental health concerns to ANY other doctor. Save yourself the additional stress. I have worked as a front office secretary and my mom is a medical biller. Their entire process for handling patients and billing is wrong and absolutely horrible.

I went to Dr Alam hoping to see a psychiatrist, but instead I got a short meeting with a man who…read morerepeated himself several times regarding why holistic medicine and CBT are the best treatment for adult psychiatric disorder. He gets two stars instead of one since he at least refunded me my deposit when he grossly failed to meet my expectations.

How do I say NO STARS? Her license has not been renewed people, it's EXPIRED and complaints there…read moretoo. As a CAA she recommended returning custody to a man with 41 missed U/A's 10 positive for opiates who can not hold a job and bankrupt but had the funds for whiskey. She failed to review his medical records even when asked given he'd been hospitalized for addiction over 6 times. Had not visited his daughter in 4 years and recommended counseling for the opposing when there was no diagnosis and she legally can not diagnose anyone without a license and she called not one witness (Over 20 were provided) that knew the child said she did not have time to read the over 200 pages that were sent to her. She had from July to November. Charged $700 for the 1 hour web meeting she rolled her eyes through a lot of it and told me how to go about filing severance but sent the child back to unsupervised to father who had not been visiting at all. She would not take calls from child's teacher who wanted to report something. She ignored documentation of 4 other women father was abusive towards. She did not call child care provider or meet the child she took the testimony of the opposing parties council Maria Lawrence of Lawrence Law and ran with it who is facing a second bar complaint for lying about father's sobriety along with her client. May they rot in the darkest pit of hell.
