I am very disappointed with my recent experience. I visited Dr. Patel for treatment of a wart. She was supposed to order a medicated patch after my appointment, but it was never ordered. As a result, my condition worsened and became more painful. I called the office to request medication. The receptionist told me that Dr. Patel would send a prescription to CVS and wanted to see me again the next day. I explained that I could not come in immediately and preferred to try the medication first. I said that if it didn't work, I would schedule another appointment and pay the additional $50 co-pay. I was told that was fine. However, three days later, no prescription was sent to the pharmacy. I am still in pain and have received no follow-up. The lack of communication and follow-through has been frustrating and disappointing. When patients are in pain, timely care and basic responsiveness should not be optional. I hope the office improves its follow-up process so other patients do not experience the same issue. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Nisha Patel for more than a decade. She is very professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate, qualities one would want of any doctor. People can easily ignore the importance of foot health and wellness until an issue arises. When that happens you want to be assured that your doctor takes the time to listen to your concerns so that they fully understand your issue(s) and concerns. I highly recommend Dr. Patel as exactly that type of doctor. I've relied on her services for injuries as well as treatment for plantar fasciitis. She uses practical and up to date techniques and technologies in her practice. Additionally, her office staff is equally professional and respectful. I really liked Dr Patel on my first visit which was to treat a plantar wart. smart too which is worth at least two stars. She suggested cauterization which I was not familiar with. This was not cheap: $110 for the visit plus $80 for the few minute treatment each visit! On the third visit, she declared the wart gone although it didn't look to be gone to me. indeed, it was not. She seemed more interested in collecting the fees than in the treatment. so, no more stars. Here I am 9 months later removing it with a single liquid nitrogen treatment. read more

I would recommend staying clear of this business. Both the front office and Dr. Patel are very "shady." I first saw Dr. Patel 6 years ago for foot pain and liked her very much. She offered to write an order for a foot x-ray or I could pay her directly for an in-house x-ray. I thought it was odd that I would have to personally pay for an x-ray if I wanted an instant answer and diagnosis, but since I wanted some relief I paid the money (I think it was around $100). Fast forward 6 years and I went to see Dr. Patel for the same issue. This time she did the x-rays in-house at no charge to me. BUT she charged me $600 for a pair of orthotics saying that my insurance company would maybe cover only $100 per foot. She said it would take 6-8 weeks for the claim to go through and then she would refund me whatever the insurance company paid her. My orthotics came in several weeks later and after wearing them all but 3 times, the material started unraveling! I went to show her and she was aware of the poor quality and tried to tell me it was a supply chain issue with the glue the company was using. Dr. Patel wanted to have the orthotics redone but I told her I did not want this brand and requested my money back. She said I couldn't have my money back but she would see if she could get the brand I previously had. What do you know... those were $600 too! At 11 weeks after I gave her my $600, I inquired the status of my insurance claim. She looked it up and said it was still "pending." I checked with my insurance company and they had not received a claim for my orthotics. Two days later, low and behold the claim was submitted! I also went in to pick up the new orthotics and the front desk girl said she would be leaving at 3:00 that day. I showed up at 2:30 and the office was closed! The front office girl called me the next day claiming she had told me she was leaving at 2:00 which was a complete lie. I requested the orthotics be mailed to me as I wasn't wasting another 30 minutes driving there. Dr. Patel called me and said she could mail them to me but it was going to cost me $15. When I explained to her that I drove 30 minutes to pick them up to only have the employee decide to go home early, she agreed to send them to me at no charge. I called the office 9 days later as I still had not received the orthotics (I live 2 cities away) and I was told they were mailed 4 days earlier. Well, I guess these people don't know about tracking services because the orthotics were not mailed until after I had called on the 9th day of having not received them. Here's the worse part of it all. My insurance company received the claim 10 days ago (nearly 3 months after I had paid her $600) and my policy covers the orthotics in full with NO CHARGE to me. She is an in-network provider on my insurance and the amount she is reimbursed by them is considered payment in full. I don't know what kind of side hustle she's running, but I hope this review will help someone else not fall for her scheme. I have disputed the $600 charge with my credit card company. read more

I was handed off to Dr. Patel by Dr. Steinberg (retired), who was the best podiatrist I've been to. When Steinberg ran the office, there was rarely more than two patients in the waiting room. I always felt as though I was getting his full attention. My first visit to Dr Patel, there were five people waiting, and she had 3 rooms going. She briefly examined me, and handed me off to the receptionist for a foot X-ray. After it was completed I went back and sat in the exam room. 10 minutes later, Patel poked her head in the room, and seemed surprised to see someone in the room. "Oh-- the X-ray. right." I'm going to switch podiatrists again. This time, hopefully, someone with an attention span. read more

I came in to Dr. Patel's office to get an ingrown toenail removed. I also told her that I have chronic ingrown toenails in my big toes and was hoping she could possibly remove my other one as well. She only cared about the one bad ingrown toenail and removed just that one...I was in and out of the office in about 10 minutes and felt like she was rushing our appointment. The ingrown toenail grew back less than a year later and I have had to seek help from another podiatrist. I feel like she didn't take my concerns seriously. Also, the office has a large German Shepherd walking around that sticks his nose in the operating rooms and leaves dog hair everywhere. Though, the dog is a lot nicer than the younger girl sitting at the front desk. She is extremely rude and not welcoming in person and when trying to make appointments by phone. read more

The Check Has Been Cashed on June 17th 2021 As Of Today This Office has been contacted with Bank Of America Regarding misplaced payment. I saw Dr. Patel for toenail fungus. She barely glanced at my feet, then recommended I begin laser treatment. It is expensive and not covered by insurance. Dr. Patel said in no uncertain terms that it was my only treatement option. Incredibly, she didn't so much as touch my feet! I walked out of her office led to believe that feet (not just mine, but feet in general) make her squeemish. I'm sure this isn't true. But it was the impression I was left with. Later that day, I took the time to read the research on laser treatment for foot fungus and found that the few clinical trials attempting to evaluate its effectiveness were deemed invalid. I raised this issue in an email to Dr. Patel's office but my concern was not addressed. The following week, I saw a second poditrist. He thoroughly examined my feet, in contrast to the passing glance paid by Dr. Patel. He started me on a course of daily topicals, covered by insurance, and my condition has already improved dramatically. Clearly, laser was not my only option. read more

My Insurance has " Foot Care " for 6 visits a year. Not knowing exactly what it means but was under the impression it would be like a Pedicure. Was I wrong ! She told me to take the socks off and said " You have Nail Fungus, you can either take some bills which might be bad for the Liver or have it lasered which cost $ 1200,- but the Insurance will not pay for it, then said you want me to cut the nails ?" Hello! I saw Dr. Patel back in January of this year. She was Doctor #7. I thought I had Finally Been given a Correct Diagnosis. NOT!! Now, I admit that the disease I have is Very Hard to Diagnose. (Peripheral Neuropathy) But... Is it right or wrong for a Doctor to tell a Patient that they have a Disease (Horrible, Extremely Painful, Disease) and that they 100% Sure Positive???? I was referred to Dr. Patel by my doctor after severe pain from a high ankle sprain 3 months previously wouldn't go away. During my first visit, Dr. Patel looked at my ankle briefly, said it needed more time to heal and told me to come back in 3 weeks. She didn't really ask me questions or tell me what was causing the pain but I figured I'd listen to her and come back. I returned 3 weeks later with the exact same level of pain. I arrived 10 minutes early and waited in the waiting room for 10 -15 minutes then sat in the exam room for over a half hour. She apologized for the delay, which I appreciated. I told her I was still having pain in my ankle and was growing concerned that 4 months after my injury, I was barely seeing improvement. She glanced at my ankle and told me to come back in 3 weeks. Not in either visit did she press on the ligaments or offer insight or exercises that could strengthen it. At that point I realized Dr. Patel either couldn't help me or didn't want to help me. Perhaps she is better suited towards other issues but I wouldn't recommend her for any sports or ankle injuries. read more

DR. PATEL CHANGE MY LIFE! I do a lot of sports, soccer, running, hiking, tennis, etc. and I been having problems with my lower back and ankle since I could remember. I went to see her for a injury problem with my right foot. Fist thing I like: she tried to figure why I was having that problem instead of giving me pain killers or cortisone like other did. Then she recommend to get inserts, she handmade the models with my exact foot form! How cool is that! Since that DAY my running is better (I can do marathons), I do hiking with no knee pain, my soccer has improve... PLUS she and all her staff are always really nice and helpful. Dr. Patel and her staff are wonderful! I needed new orthodics due to developing spurs years ago when I ran marathons. She is very friendly and took the time to listen to me, even with my 4yr old tagging along for the visit. I can understand the comments a few have made about out-of-picket costs and insurance. I actually had the same concern because we had met our family deductible, however, I had not met my individual deductible. I didn't even know I had an individual deductible. Dr. Patel called me personally and explained it to me. She actually called me twice because we were disconnected during our first call. Talk about follow up and follow through! I have an ongoing (for 10 years) type 1 diabetic caused condition called Charcot foot. At the same time, I travel primarily by bicycle to help keep my diabetes under control. 5 years ago I moved to Contra Costa County. For the first 18 months here, I would go thru a cycle of 2 - 3 month of treating a charcot induced foot ulcer then 2 months without an ulcer. And during those 18 months, my foot doctor would say that this cycle will continue on for the rest of my life. Finally I left that doctor and following a lead from my primary doctor I ended up at Dr. Nisha Patel's office. The first thing she did was to replace my prescription foot support shoes with a different Charcot support shoes. . A quick and easy ulcer preventive fix. Over the next 3.5 years she showed me how to prevent the on again off again ulcer cycle. Because of Dr. Patel I was able to bike and walk without pain or ulcers. Since this is a foot degenerate condition, eventually I needed to have a couple of bones reshape. Dr. Patel performed the surgery and within two months I was back on my bicycle. Dr. Patel looked at the bottom of my foot today after I had been to another WC foot doctor 4 times in the last 3 months for the same problem. She was efficient, funny and got right to the bottom of it (pun intended). I asked her what else I could do to prevent this from happening again and she gave me two solutions...whereas teh other doctor had nothing to offer except surgery. Would recommend her to anyone as a first choice (John Muir network) foot doctor over some of the other more established foot doctors in this network. read more

Came in for ONE orthopedic insert, was spoken to and told that the price would be 200 dollars and I would get TWO for that price. I asked many times during that discussion if my insurance would cover, they agreed it would after checking. Was told any additional x-rays were also included. I was given a sheet to sign with that price, in the sheet it did said I could be charged more if the insurance did not cover, asked them to remove that part on the above agreement and they did that (actually crossed off by the lady in the front desk). Came back 3 weeks later to get them, was told that I needed to pay for X-rays and that my insurance only covered one insert and I would need to pay the other one. I am not sure what sort of business they are running, but if I took customers like this I would have trouble sleeping at night. Dr. Patel also provided me a nice fact that insurance in the US is not the same as Europe - which to be honest was quite patronizing given the situation. Avoid this place as they are completely unprofessional and will try to stick you for every dollar! I also did not see any improvement with the orthopedics we purchased. I went to Dr. Patel for let's just call it a "blemish" on my foot. I had said blemish for a few years - and it was gross, but I was scared to go to a doctor to have it removed because I was worried it would hurt and I was a chicken. I finally decided enough was enough and I'd heard good things about Dr. Patel. I made an appointment and was able to see her the following week. She took the best care of me! She was extremely professional and took the time to explain each step of the procedure beforehand so I'd know exactly what was going on and it helped put me at ease. She was gentle and she made the procedure almost painless. She followed up with me in the weeks after to make sure the healing was on track and she to make sure I was staying off my foot as much as possible. This doctor took less than four minutes with my Mom to deal with three issues, one of which would have involved surgery. It was obvious she had no interest in helping her. Before going into the room to see my Mom, the Dr. asked the receptionist one question: "What type of insurance does she have." (She has Medicare and a secondary). When the office sent me an email to set up a logon for their Dr./Patient portal, I did it, hoping I could get my Mom's questions answered. Submitted questions to Dr. and staff three weeks ago - still waiting for a response. Even if they have to fake it, any Dr. should at least try to conjure up some level of caring. Never again will I go back to this woman. She does not spend anytime with her patients and does a horrible job during procedures. I went in for an ingrown toe nail, she did not remove enough material for the toe to heal properly. Had to reschedule for another appointment to get everything removed, she did not use a numbing agent the second time. Why she couldn't have spent more time during the first procedure, I have absolutely no idea. She seemed very rushed with everything she did and did not seem genuine about helping. I don't understand how it's legal for someone like this to still be in practice. Absolutely horrible experience. I hope for anyone thinking of seeing her, and not just blindly given a referral by your physician, would rethink your decision and find someone else who has a passion for helping patients. I don't even know if my toe will heal properly after the second appointment. It's just appalling people like this are allowed to have a medical practice. Please for your own sake do not go to this medical office. I would like to reiterate how horrible of a job this person has done. The second time I went to get tissue removed that should have been removed while my foot was numbed during the first appointment. Looking at it this morning not all of the tissue was removed, probably because it hurt like hell because she didn't administer a numbing agent. read more

Her offices are fairly far from my home, but because my first experience was so good with her, I decided to take the time to go back to her again. Her care was awesome. She diagnosed the issue and provided me the treatment in the same visit (saving me a ton of time and money.). She did laser on my two toe nails and the wrote me a script for jublia. It worked great! I have a toe fungus in my big toe that is painful. I "saw" the doctor for a couple of minutes..like other reviewers have stated. I don't recall her even touching my toe or examining it. She just said I had a fungus and then proceeded to reeeeelly push laser...she quickly listed other options, but laser was clearly her goal. What troubled me was that she will not do laser on the toe that is affected, but will only do it on all 10 toes..for $1000!!! as it is not covered under insurance, that is a lot of money for me...I could have covered the one toe for $100.... She basically was "done" with me when I said I couldn't pay that much and I left feeling very manipulated. I am seeing another podiatrist today...who receives very high reviews.. read more

Dr. Patel has treated both me and my son, and I have just to say that I am very impressed with her professionally, and with the way she cares for her patients, and I even may say beyond her responsibilities. My son had a very rare condition affecting his feet and she helped him to have the best treatment. My son calls her if he ever has any question or concern, and she is always willing to help...even on weekends! I visited her because of my bunions problem; I was sure that I needed surgery, but she recommended me not to, at least for now. She explained me in detailed the reasons, pros and cons, and I agreed. Dr Patel and her staff were great. I have had pain in my Left heel for many months and the discomfort was effecting my daily walking. I was referred to Dr Patel from my primary doctor and was able to get an appointment online on zocdoc. Xrays showed a large spur and she reviewed treatment options with diagrams and was very thorough, she was most knowledgeable and now I feel I have a handle on the pain and have tips on preventing it from coming back again.
