During that appointment I felt very comfortable with the facility and with talking to the owner, Ryan. I decided to sign up for the Semi Private Training. This was the best decision I made for me. I work hard. I do things I did not think I could do. I see positive changes in my body. I have made new friends with both staff and others that I share semi private training sessions with. The training is consistent no matter which trainer you are working with that day. Trainers Ryan, Caleb, Collin, Liz and Marianne have all been great to work with. They check in with you often to make sure you are OK. They work with you on your limitations and help you overcome those limitations. They push you to do better. And they congratulate you on your success. Co-owner Katie Smith offers nutritional support for a total package. I could not be happier with Smitty Built Fitness.

The center is clean and well staffed with knowledgeable trainers who are able to offer direction and assistance. The gym has a "clean" scent; it appears to me that they give solid attention to maintenance. Gyms oftentimes appear not to have a scheduled sanitation routine in place and you can sense it as soon as you enter the building; that is not the case here. Kudos to the staff and management. Easy access via their code-reader located at the front desk, where you'll be greeted and acknowledged by name. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

Normally when you think of a Planet Fitness, you automatically picture their trademark colors…read morepurple yellow and black, and you kind of imagine the McDonald's of gym's, where it's first in first out hurry up and get your work done show up pretty much whenever avert your eyes and ever talk to anyone. This location though, this one is different. This one sets the standard for what it should be. I really hope that corporate somehow sees this review. When you walk into this gym, they always greet you with a smile, oftentimes ask you how your day is, what your plans are in the gym today, and if you need any help or suggestions. When I first started coming here it was not like that. It was a couple of teenage girls standing at the counter who couldn't give a hoot if you were alive or not. I'm not sure exactly when the change happened because I was in the hospital for a while, but at some point the staff changed up and now we have some real go-getters, people who encourage you, people that actually care. I'd like to shout out three of them that stand above the rest, no shade to the others, but these three have never missed a chance to say good morning or good evening, and ask me what my plans are in the gym today, one of them even takes polls to get people more involved. Nothing serious just little tack marks on a piece of paper, and yet it makes it feel more like a community. Jeff, Peyton, and Dan are not just employees, they're amazing human beings. Always encouraging, always supportive, they don't just work there they're forming community which is what a gym should be. It's hard enough to motivate oneself to get to the gym and keep a routine, but when you know you have friends there who actually care about your progress, people there you're encouraging and make you feel good about what you're doing, that makes it so much easier to stick to that routine. Dan is also a trainer, but he doesn't charge for kindness and encouragement. Jeff though, he's a whole other type of animal, if you need help he's on it, if you look like you're having a rough day he's there for you, he never lets customers do without, he's always professional and kind. And Peyton, hopefully I didn't get the name wrong, is just like Jeff only younger. There is a gym closer to me, but I choose to go to this one because of that personal touch. I've noticed that the negative reviews on here are either outdated or things that people cannot change about the gym. It's unfortunate that it brings the rating down so heavily. If you're in the area and want a decent gym to get a great work out at, massage tables, tanning booths, or just want to get a couple extra steps in while listening to music in an air conditioned environment, this is the place for you!

I do wish there were more after-5pm classes available (5:30pm only M-Th) and more weekend classes available (only 8:15am and 9:30am on Sa/Su). But they only add as many classes as there are people signed up at the gym. So if you're considering it, please sign up! For my sake, jk jk. Edited to add: Wow, just read all the reviews from 2019. The bad reviews are definitely not accurate anymore. They were a starting business in 2019 and obviously had some bad staff to rule out. I've been going for 8 months now and staff has been very generous when I have emergencies come up and can't make a class. It is true about the heart rate monitors, they cost 150ish, but you aren't required to buy one at all.
