The bar was decorated very well for Christmas and the cocktails reflected the season. I tried two of the holiday cocktails and they were spectacular as always, fresh and zippy! We always order a snack to have at the bar and perhaps an entree to share in the room later on but this time we decided to order the Rebellion Nachos that included Nacho Mama's Chile Con Carne or Grilled Chicken, refried black beans, jalapeños, queso, pico, guacamole, lime crema, cotija cheese, and serrano salsa. They offer a substitition of Akaushi Tenderloin for +$5. We chose the chile con carne and asked them to keep the chips in a separate container so we could use the toppings as a delicious dip. It was so much easier to enjoy in the room later and the chips did not get soggy. Anyway, that is our pro tip! The nachos were spicy and delicious. I would definitely order those again. I may have to add that special tenderloin for an extra treat. Valerie was our server and she was a breath of fresh air and was very attentive and friendly. read more

The food was average. The service was poor however, I think the Service was poor because she was new and nobody bothered together in a training. Our server had no people skills and really didn't know how to serve food or drinks. We had to ask for utensils to eat with. We had to get up and get our own ketchup and a condiment from the area that they were kept. The temperature was absolutely freezing, very uncomfortable. I think the best thing about our experience was my wine. It was very nice. read more

Terrible service on may 23rd from a bartender in training and either another bartender or his manager. We were not told the price/upcharge of a liquor after being asked "what liquor would you like your old fashions to be made with" the bartender in training proceeded to make the drinks but didn't know how to ring up the chosen liquor. The regular server "regi" was the name on our receipt (so I'm assuming that was the girls nickname) proceeded to tell us she was going to remake the drinks with a different house liquor and takes the other mixed drinks away. It was the pettiest thing I've ever seen. We were never told this would be a $75 upcharge before making the drinks, otherwise we wouldn't have had him make them. She instead chose to consider it a "spill" on their end and poured them down the drain. So weird considering she could've done that and charged us the regular price and not have actually wasted alcohol . After that we didn't go back. I used to enjoy stopping in for a drink but I will not be doing this anymore. There should be liquor menus listed as they are in any bar or if you know it's going to be a significant up-charge you should mention it before proceeding to make a drink. Or better yet don't ask what liquor and leave it up to the customer to ask for something else. I hope the employees were talked to and not just brushed off for this incident. read more

Great drinks and bartenders! On the expensive side for Nacogdoches, but the hotel is great! I've been going there for work and fun since they reopened over 7 years ago. My biggest complaint is that no matter what time of year, they always close earlier than posted hours Thursday through Saturday nights. Which is a bummer. I'm staying at the only 5 star hotel in town, and when u want a nightcap I can't get one because they usually close an hour or more early. I brought it to their attention but they haven't done anything about it. If you're a restaurant or regular bar, I understand closing early if it's not busy. But every other 4-5 star hotel bar stays open until their advertised hours. When staying there, you're paying more for the whole experience. So it lacks big time here. read more

First, I love the all day happy hour on Sunday! Excellent food. Try the chilaquiles with the spicy shrimp spicy shrimp hollandaise sauce! The fricklepenos*TM* are delicious too. Had several upset customers in the bar last night after 2 weddings were over. It was shoulder to shoulder packed. There were not enough bar tenders. It should have been considered to have enough since there were 2 weddings in the same night with one having over 200 people. One bar tender girl was super rude to everyone she spoke with- with several people talking about her attitude. Called last call at 12:15 when there was a bar packed with people. I can only imagine how much money was lost last night because of your rude bar tender. If closing time is at 1- why is last call at 12:15? This is a habit i hear this happens all the time. A lot of people love coming here it's a great atmosphere. These are the 2 things i hear most people complaining about. Its happens often. read more

So I am writing his review after having a less than favorable experience at Nine Flags. First off, this was only my second time to go to Nine Flags after the renovations. The first time we went was last Tuesday night (2/09/2021). I was generally impressed with the new renovations--the retro, industrial look is excellent, and the bartenders were equally good at their work. After Tuesday night, we decided to go back and visit the bar, eat dinner and make a night of it. This is where things did not go as well as we had hoped. First, we walked into a bustling bar with one couple waiting just before us. We waited behind them while they stepped to the front of the bar and ordered drinks. Eventually, the bartender asked if we would like drinks too. We ordered two drinks and waited. Other local people came in behind us and walked around to the front of the bar, ahead of both ourselves and the couple in front of us, to take a seat at a table that was being cleared. After observing this, I asked the bartender if they had a seating chart we could sign up for and was finally informed that seating was first-come-first-serve. (It would have been great if somebody would have greeted us and let us know.) At which time, I pointed out that people were coming in from two different directions and not taking their turns to sit. The bartender just shrugged the circumstance off and said that people could sit as soon as they found a table. Here is my problem: we came from out-of-town and patiently waited in line for a table only to watch locals be seated and served before anyone spoke to us or even acknowledged that we were patiently standing and waiting. It would have been nice for a bartender to greet us and let us know the seating circumstances before we spent an hour waiting only to watch people walk right past us and take a seat. After waiting for over an hour, we finally got a seat. The drinks were good, and the fried pickles and jalapenos were great. Unfortunately, The Texan in Philly Cheesesteak was dry (No dressing and no butter on the bread) and did not come with the balsamic onion jam or house-made pickle that were advertised on the menu. We pointed this out to the waiter, who took the sandwich away and comped our ticket, explaining that the sandwich should not have been served that way. While we were grateful for the comp, we were less than happy about the whole experience's chaotic seating and general circumstances. We almost always come to Nacogdoches to eat and drink; usually, we go to Barkeeps. We decided to try something different but ended up regretting the experience. Great food and great drinks! Very nice bar, probably one of the nicest in Nac! The atmosphere is hard to beat!

First, I'm not sure why this has four dollar signs. The most expensive thing (not counting bottled wine) is $12. The dinner menu (First City Cafe but they serve it in the bar as well) is $18 max. So, not expensive, at least from my perspective. This is the only "nice" bar I could find in Nacogdoches. Copper chairs, trunk wood (including the bark) tables, antique lighting - nice decor. Quiet (but not dead) and a nice crowd. Full bar. Happy hour food options are a little light, but $5 margaritas and $3 well drinks. They also have craft cocktails including nine that are a tribute to the flags that have flown over Nacogdoches. Lots of beer choices including 8 craft beers. Friendly and prompt wait staff (shout out to Ashley!) Drinks and food were all good. I'll definitely be back. read more

Hotel is a unique mixture of retro and modern styling. The bars staff is nothing short of amazing. Very attentive and customer service oriented. Beer selection was good, and beers were cold. Unique bar nestled inside an old hotel in downtown Nacogdoches, Tx. With a retro Hollywood vintage vibe. (Opened in 1955) Atmosphere is a combo of exposed brick meets leather meets Industrial lighting meets gold paint, with an interesting decor of copper paint metal chairs and live edge bar tops, all with a connection to the patio pool area. But on to the most important part of a bar review..the drinks. My friend had the peanut butter Russian (rich and boozy) and I had to try their Veaux Carre. (Boozy and boozy). Busy Friday evening but without a wait for seating! Attentive service in spite of fast pace, accommodating special drink request. Knowledgeable wait staff offered menu suggestions. Fabulous fried green tomatoes with homemade pimiento cheese and candied bacon. Shrimp & grits 9/10; sufficient portion, wonderful flavor & two huge baguette pieces to soak up every bite. One off for slightly over cooked shrimp. Other diner's entree was equally well-plated chicken medallions on a generous mound of scratch mashed potatoes & THE. Best. Broccoli, perfectly cooked & seasoned. Pet peeve having to ask for salt & pepper & having to remove shaker top to dispense either. Dessert was the only disappointment. Had we read the menu again, we would not have ordered the tres leche. I enjoy the traditional recipe but this did not have the cake texture I expect in this dish and the cold apples & cold caramel sauce added nothing, but rather overwhelmed the delicate tres leche flavor.
