Hands down the best Greek in town The lemon chicken and rice soup is spectacular - Lemon potatoes are second to none read more

I was craving Greek food so I had supper at Niko's Restaurant. I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki dinner with two chicken skewers. Instead of a salad, I got roasted lemon potatoes and rice pilaf, which came with warm pita bread and tzatziki. It was a good meal. Everything was hot and seemed freshly cooked. The chicken and potatoes had a bit of a bite, like a hot sauce or spice which I'm not used to when I have Greek food. The lemon on the potatoes didn't really come through. The rice was nice and fluffy. I'd get it again. Ally was the server. She was nice and friendly. read more

This is ourgo to place for Greek food, honestly have never been disappointed!! We've dined in and had a great experience with wonderful staff and food. We've also ordered delivery a few time and can't complain! Our last order we had Gyros and Greek lemon potatoes... a double order of those yummy lemon potatoes of course because they're just that good!! In the past I've had the Village Greek Salad and really enjoyed it as well. So to sum it up, you won't be disappointed in dining at Niko's!! read more

Perfectly prapared gyro, from the meat being still soft to the tzatziki tasting homemade. Many places blast the meat untill it is hard and over done, not here. My wife had a chicken gyro that was probably the best I've seen. The service was exceptional, timely, and friendly. We finished our experience with a classic baklava which was flaky and tasty. read more

Pretty good food. Not the best Greek, but will do in a pinch. The problem here is customer service. Three times now they have left out items on my takeout order- shame on me for going back when I should know better. Also, take out orders for a specified time are never ready promptly. I just walked out after waiting for 40 minutes. Take your business elsewhere! read more

Nikos seems to have a very loyal following over the years. I've eaten here once many years ago but went back recently to check out some Greek eats. It's one of the few restaurants on Corydon that has parking, even though it's just a couple of spots as it's shared with Hanabi and Second Cup. It's a small, light and airy casual Greek eatery though they serve non-Greek dishes as well. The distance between tables is tighter than other Winnipeg restaurants so it's one of those places where you can clearly overhear your neighbour's conversation. I should've known that the "avgolemono soup," $3.95, would be lemony (hello, it's mentioned in the name and Greeks love to add lemon to dishes). I was expecting a more brothy and light lemon soup but this one has quite the thick consistency (almost like a stew). It has major lemon flavour, rice and with some leftover chicken. Because the rice has absorped all the liquid and expanded, it is really soft and tastes almost like congee. If you like lots of lemony flavours, then get this very filling soup. I don't think I'd order this again as I prefer lighter broth soup bases. The half Greek salad is ($4.95) and it contains ice berg lettuce, green peppers, onions, olives, tomatoes and feta cheese. The dressing is tangy but was not overwhelming so it made for a nice salad. Personally I prefer the more traditional Greek salads with no lettuce but this one had a decent amount of feta so that made the salad quite enjoyable. I always go with the chicken souvlaki meal at Greek places, mostly because I hate getting all messy with the pitas and gyros (pronounced "yee-ro" not "jy-ro") :-p . The chicken souvlaki platter ($14.95) comes with a decent portion of the aforementioned Greek salad. I had the choice of rice, fries or roasted lemon potatoes and opted for the latter. Oh that was a mistake - first they were luke warm, I know they're premade but nuke it up so it's hot. Then the potatoes had this greasy sauce over it though it tasted like lemon potatoes. It was a large portion of potatoes but I just ate a few bites and that was enough for me - too greasy and something was a bit off. The tzatziki sauce was pretty thick but tasted like yogurt and cucumber only - so very bland. There was NO GARLIC...none detected and no real lemon or salt. Normally I love tzatziki but this one was way too bland for me. The best parts of my souvlaki platter were the crispy well seasoned pitas and the two super moist chicken skewers. You get your money's worth for the amount of chicken you get and it's well seasoned but almost verging on too salty. The meat wasn't grilled at all but baked, which probably explains why the chicken was so moist. The chicken tasted good but I prefer the more traditional grilled chicken souvlaki flavour. Overall, it's an average Greek place with hit and miss items with friendly service. read more

I ordered a Chicken Souvlaki dinner with two skewers. It included two skewers of chicken with a side of lime roasted potatoes and garden salad with Italian dressing. The chicken was tasty, albeit rather salty. The pita was tasty;but salty again. The portion was big and the service was good. read more

One of the top 5 go-to restaurants in town! These folks have kept standards sky-high for so long. Pretty much anything on the menu will disappear faster than a NASCAR racer, leaving you wanting more. Outstanding are such things as their lemon potatoes, avgolemono soup, Mac & cheese, and of course gyros, or anything served in a pita. Moussaka to match any place else. Chicken to keep 'em coming. BEST Feta cheese. Really - try it! read more

Long time customer..always been my go to restaurant when I need a good meal. I ordered pickup on Thursday evening and rushed home the eat dinner. We ordered chicken gyro with Greek salad, I ordered French fries and the second order was lemon potatoes. Surprisingly saddened and disappointed! The chicken tasted like pork, potatoes tasted like boiled potatoes...with hot spices mixed ? ? My frenchfries were burnt and dry and I threw them in the garbage. Not sure what happened at Niko's, we have never experienced anything but great food...disappointed and won't hurry back. read more

Went here for lunch with my friends recently. The place itself is very small, everything is really close together so not the best for a quiet/private dining experience. The service is always really friendly/helpful/patient, all those good things :) I had a smaller caesar salad, fries, and spanakopita. The caesar salad is a never-order-again item. It was drenched in dressing that was just mediocre. The spana was also just okay. It was mostly just spinach and had no real flavour. The tzatziki that came with was just cucumbers in yoghurt, no real flavour there either. The fries though!! So delicious, crispy, perfectly seasoned. Yum! Would return again just for fries. My friend had chicken souvlaki and the portion was huge! She finished barely half but said it was really good. The next time I came my boyfriend had the french onion soup and he said it was the best he'd ever eaten. We will definitely come back to keep trying our way through the menu because I think some items are hit or miss. read more

Small strip mall restaurant. Stopped for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Good Greek Salad with fresh feta, chicken souvlaki that was generous and tasty. Reasonably priced. Definitely worth a try. read more

This is really a very nice neighbourhood restaurant. No pretensions, which is great. And the food, too, is great. They have, however, changed their menu recently - glammed it up a bit - which is understandable, but I miss some of the old standards, such as the "smaller portions" menu. And the last two times, the included vegetable was beets. Beets. The meal - their wonderful chicken - already comes with many lemon-roasted potatoes and flat bread, so adding beets just increases the carb load, and does nothing for presentation. How about some green vegetable, folks? Or a small salad that isn't an expensive added extra? read more

Niko's is a great little place for authentic Greek food. My favourite restaurant in Winnipeg, and I'm a local so I'm well-versed in Winnipeg restaurants. Their pastisio and moussaka are wonderful. The lemon/rice soup is always a good bet, too. Be sure to order a side of pita with tzatziki sauce. read more

Great food so many to choose from. The staff are friendly and personable. The price is great very affordable. Roasted lemon chicken is one of their specialty and it's to die for. One of the negative though would be that the place is always packed sometimes it's a 30min. wait for a table but well worth it. read more

I have been eating at Nikos for as long as I can remember and it's safe to say it is absolutely my favorite restaurant in Winnipeg. They have a variety of foods, both greek and otherwise and I have yet to try something there I don't like. My favorite starter is their Lemon chicken soup. It is flavorful and very filling and a great quick meal for a decent price. I've had this soup at several other Greek restaurants and it never please it's always thin and myself and fellow diners find ourselves having to season it with lots and lots of Salt and pepper. I call in take out at least a few times a month and it's always read in a timely fashion and their service is very quick when eating in too. They had fantastic chicken dishes that I am a huge fan of such as their Chicken Gyro, Chicken Ceaser Salad, Roasted Chicken Sub and even their lemon roasted chicken. They use a special spice and seasoning on their chicken that just adds something extra to it. Their roast potatoes are also fantastic. I did notice recently that they changed their barbeque sauce to one i'm not really a fan of and since i used to use it to dip my fries i generally will stick to ordering the roasted potatoes or their lemon chicken rice as a side. The other day something went wrong with our order, a new waitress has accidentally cancelled ours and made another one. Though the waitress was sort of rude about it, I wasn't too annoyed or anything so i said i would wait for our order. The owners were fantastic and though i tried to pay for it they insisted we take the entire pick up order for free. I take almost all of my family and friends here when they come to visit and they absolutely love it and demand a return visit when they come back. Affordable and great quality food and service. read more

Best Greek salad ever! The service is always friendly and the food is always delicious.

I've been eating here for years and it is my favourite spot for generously portioned food at reasonable prices for top quality food. I've been to Greek places across the country and it's by far the best gyro's, Greek salad and roasted lemon potatoes I've had. I live in Edmonton but have to have Niko's everytime I'm in town. Their tzatziki is beyond delicious and the ingredients are so well balanced. I cannot say a bad thing about it. It is a bit lunch cafe/diner style in terms of size and set up so don't expect any different. It's clean and it's welcoming. What else could you ask for in a great, casual dining experience?! read more
