Went here looking for lunch and was not disappointed. We had the gyro and lamb pita with lemon potatoes and a Greek salad and it was awesome. Staff were very friendly, polite, etc. It was a Sunday midday and while we didn't have reservations, there was room. The restaurant doesn't rush you to get out after eating. Building is not much to look at from outside but very nice inside, nice decor. Prices aren't cheap but good value for the money. Would go again. read more

Olympia Diner is a Greek-style diner in the Westwood area of Winnipeg. Definitely not an area I go to often since I live Downtown, but I wanted to try this place for the longest time. I had a lamb souvlaki, topped with a greek salad and rice. It was delicious! Their portions are huge, and I ended up taking some of the salad and rice home. I actually prefer here over Taverna Rodos personally. My friend ordered the saganaki for an appetizer, and oh my god that cheese was amazing...we even got the opa show as the cheese got flamed. Service was excellent here. Will return for sure for my Greek cravings. Too bad it's so far from me. read more

Oh my gosh!! Our meals were amazing! The service was friendly and prompt, the atmosphere was family friendly with courteous guests. Indoor and outdoor dining, parking lot in the rear. Our entrees all came with 2 sides (wide variety of options - 3 salads, soup, 2 fries, potatoes, rice - rice!!). Great job to the owners and staff. Very disappointed last time l went with 2 friends.I ordered to start the French onion soup which was delicious, but for lunch l had the hot turkey sandwich.I was told l could have two sides and elected to have double order of fries. Went to celebrate a birthday and the majority wanted lamb, we were then told there was no lamb at all. (A Greek restaurant out of lamb)? We also went through the menu with the waitress to get a gluten free meal, settled on the ribs as we were told the sauce is home made and gf. the ribs came on a bed of fries although only salad was requested.? So within 10 minutes the headache started and the hives and sore stomach came out. When I mentioned to the waitress that the sauce may not be gluten free she got totally defensive And disappeared for some time. Nobody came out to talk to the gf person and and there was No concern from them at all! If you have allergies, do not trust what they tell you! Flew in on an early morning flight and needed to find a diner for some grub. Late afternoon here and so what to do? Well, found this place along the route to the hotel and wowza! Jackpot! If you're coming into town, you gotta get some goods eats here. Ordered a pita with beef and lamb with their lemon potatoes and a caesar salad. Their homemade tzatziki was incredible - different from what Ive tasted before. The pita was seasoned with their own butter and spices.....so good. Their lemon potatoes: wow! We also ordered a clubhouse on toasted rye bread with their fries and so good too! Their slim fries were to die for. Great service too! Btw, their front door is really heavy. We thought this place was closed when we tried to enter. They told us after, "yes, you're not the first to tell is that." :) Out-a-towners? You gotta get some grubs at this place. We wanted Greek and the Olymoia was close Went in after 7, i.e. after the dinner rush, and were warmly greeted and seated at a great table. After some wait our pleasant server appered and took the drink orders. After at least 30 min since we arrived we got our drinks and ordered. Needless to say the food must be authentic as I think they had to go back to Greece for some of the ingredients. At last our feast arrived and we dug in. There were some hits and some misses. Sadly we didn't see a server once the food was served until it was time to pay. That meant no opportunity to share the fact my chicken, while tender, was very very small. The fries with the kids meal were cool and soggy. The onion soup was very salty and the bowl scorching hot with not warning; hence my Granddaughter when reaching over burned her arm, and several days later still has a major scar. The calamari was a bit rubbery, we felt it was under-cooked. The lemon roasted potatoes were so-so, lacked a crisp exterior and that distinctive kick of lemon The salads were nice and crisp. A refreshing version of a Greek restaurant. Updated modern rustic decor, open kitchen, and good staff that appear to enjoy what they are doing. Then there is the food, the best so far that we've had in Winnipeg. The small touches show the quality and care taken. (Updated and not the usual) It has become our new favourite. read more

Good food though we prefer Taverna Rodos in Charleswood - their souvlaki, Greek salads and fries are way better. Also larger portions. Olympia ambiance is "ok". Since redoing the interior, it's not as quaint and no actual foyer when you enter. Our last visit to this restaurant they were out of certain menu items - supply truck did not arrive so not their fault. All in all a good restaurant. read more

Walked in to have breakfast, was seated and proceeded to wait for service. Our waitress came by about 7 minutes later and took our food & beverage (coffees) order and disappeared. Waited another 8 minutes and then walked out when I noticed her taking someone else's order that had just come in. We were there at least 15 minutes & never got water or coffee. Best greek food in the city. We eat here on a regular basis at least once a week. It is absolutely amazing and always consistent. They were closed for a few months due to a kitchen fire and are now reopen with the food being as great as ever. We have dined at every greek restaurant in the city and Olympia is the best. Best prices, freshest food, large portions. It is a small family run business with a small dining area. They are always packed and even take out takes a while because they are so good. Okay so I'm giving this place 2 stars and if I could base my review solely on their food it would be 5 stars easily. Alas, the service and atmosphere have gone drastically down hill. It took over an hour for the kitchen to get our order together - in fact there were people there after us who were getting their meals before us. It wouldn't have been a bi deal but we were there with 3 kids under 6... They had run out of their kids menus so our server had to try to remember what was on the menu. Any time that we have ever been there before there was a dessert included in our kids meals but for some reason this time it wasn't. Again, no big deal but then it came down to the poor customer service. I felt completely disregarded and spoken down to the entire evening. When one of the kids spilled their water I certainly didn't expect to have a wad of napkins thrown at me... meh... read more

Me and my family do not go to this restaurant often, but we LOVE the fettuccine alfredo. It's the best in the city and a huge portion where two of you could easily share it. It's a nice cute local restaurant, the only complaint is my fiancé ordered an expensive scotch, which he always does but found it to be more expensive than other restaurants he goes to for the same drink. read more

The ribs are nicely seasoned the shrimp tasty. (full rack $22.95 and the half rack with 4 or 5 shrimp $20.95.) The glazed carrots are so good. I ordered another serving. I was very excited to eat here as I was told the food was great. Unfortunately, I did not get the opportunity to eat because of the service we received. We were at no point greeted at the door. I had to approach a server to be helped. We were told it would be a 15 minute wait. After 30 minutes (and having seen several tables leave), I approached the servers again to see if there were tables available. We were seated within 5 minutes. Subsequently, the table next to us was sat. Our table was never approached. However, the table that was sat after us was approached and got their drink order in. So, after 40 minutes of waiting. We left. Unfortunately for the servers, we also work in the service industry (and tip well) therefore would have been understanding if they were slammed. I will not be coming back. read more

Food was good. Not excellent. But good. What was very disturbing was the comment we received from one of the waitresses. We had come for an early dinner (5:30). We ordered. Ate. And did not over extend our time. We were there maybe 40 minutes in all. I "sensed" when it came to paying the bill we were being rushed a bit. Which was ok because we were ready to go. However, the staff did not know that. As we were about to leave, a staff member told us we had to leave because the table was reserved for another couple that had just arrived. We were completely shocked!!!! Her manner was rude and disrespectful. There were other available tables. At no time did they forewarn us we were on a time restriction. Very yummy food! Our family loves to grab the Chicken Souvlaki on a pita for Friday night takeout! It is a great replacement for the Friday night pizza and a little bit healthier with all the fresh produce that they use for ingredients. The staff there is also very warm and inviting! Most disappointing dining experience ever. Got to the restaurant at 4:30 and was told we couldn't order anything from the fryer for 45+ mins. The fryer was unavailable because they were blanching fries which meant we couldn't order fries, etc. with our dinner. That made absolutely no sense to us and we should have got up and walked out. Instead of offering to bring out the fries when they were ready which apparently they couldn't do, I asked the waitress if I could ordered the village salad instead which she said yes to. Even though the waitress knew how disappointed we were about not getting fries with dinner, she then charged for the upcharge for ordering the village salad giving us some lame excuse about how that's "policy". Still not clear to us how customers who ordered just before us and after us managed to get fries with their dinner!?! First time writing a review for a restaurant because we thought everyone should be warned as this 'no fryer available' happens more than twice a week. If you go to the restaurant and want fries, better ask before you sit down whether the fryer is available otherwise you'll be told "No fries for you!" read more

We have been eating at Olympia for several years. The calamari appetizer is one of our favorites. Chicken gyros are consistently tasty.
