Perhaps there are more tourists in the area than I realize to support this ambitious restaurant. Began with the beef carpaccio. There were a lot of flavors happening, which while complimentary, wound up being overpowering. The beef was fresh. The bison short rib was noted as being braised for eleven hours and that it would fall off the bone; a knife was still needed. It was comfort food - like a pot roast. The artic char had a mild cream sauce and came with some small potatoes. The dish very much needed salt, pepper and some other spices to give it some zing. Both dishes came with a mix of roasted carrots, beets and parsnips. All the red wines by the glass were from BC. The Indigenous World Merlot was decent, if a little flat in its flavor profile.

The parking lot is large but fills up fast with tourists so many park along the main road leading up to the parking lot. The food here was outstanding! Our server wasn't very friendly or welcoming. She was too busy chatting with the bartender. Our food was served warm, so at least she served our food timely. I was so impressed with my salmon filet and potato & spinach tart! They were both sooooo good, I think my husband was jealous of my menu choice. He had the crispy fried oyster mushrooms burger with their soup of the day, chickpea marsala. He said his was good, but he was not overwhelmed like I was. We ordered the molten cake for dessert. My oh my, was it delicious! So dense and quality dark chocolate...yum! It was accompanied with vanilla bean ice cream with a melted chocolate on top that made a hard shell, strawberry slices and a s'more on a stick. Soooo frickin good! Compliments to the chef! Never imagined I'd be served such amazing cuisine at a lake Lodge. Overall I would definitely be back to eat their food, but servers could take a lesson in hospitality.

When we arrived, the server told us we could sit anywhere. After sitting down, we waited quite a while before our server came back, which was surprising since there were only a few tables occupied. We eventually ordered the salmon fillet. We also wanted to order drinks, but our server never returned, so I had to go up to the bar to order instead. That said, the salmon fillet was actually really good and definitely the highlight of the meal. I just wish they had more food options, as the menu is pretty limited.

Cilantro on the Lake is a great place to get a quick bite to eat or enjoy a refreshing beverage…read morewith a gorgeous view. We stopped in for a late lunch recently while visiting Yoho National Park. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, and we requested a seat outside. The menu at Cilantro on the Lake includes some unique options including a lamb burger, a buffalo shawarma wrap, cheeseburger soft tacos, along with some pizzas and shareable appetizers and several cocktail and beer options. I opted to order the summer vegetable pizza and the cilantro poutine appetizer and share both items with my parents. The summer vegetable pizza was delicious and loaded up with artichokes, red peppers, olives and fresh argula with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. The cilantro poutine had a nice, flavorful gravy with plenty of cheese curds and a hefty serving of thick-cut french fries Customer service was great, Moira was friendly and welcoming and checked in often during our meal. The views of Emerald Lake are pretty amazing and provide good photo opportunities. I will say the prices for the food and drinks were steep, and more expensive than expected. I was interested in ordering a mocktail, but the $15 cost was too high. The pizza alone was $35. The total for our meal was about $70 including tip. So, this is something to keep in mind. However, the portions were very good, and we were all full and had trouble finishing up the pizza and poutine. Cilantro on the Lake is worth visiting if you're looking for a snack and want to enjoy a nice view.

Ambiance: This place has a nice wood cabin feel with friendly staff who liked to make small talk…read more The main detractor was that the first table they brought us to by the window had a literal dozen flies but they moved us to the opposite side of the restaurant and we had no further issues. The place was pretty empty during brunch time and food took a moderate amount of time to come out but was hot and fresh. Food: My wife had the island bowl which had two poached eggs, veges, avocado and a hollandaise sauce which was lighter but clean and flavorful. I had the Reuben sandwich which was quite good. The corned beef was sliced thin and tender. The 1:1 ratio of meat to kraut was good and the bread had a nice crispy toast to it. The star of the table, however, were the hand cut fries. They were very crispy, not too oily, and perfectly seasoned. Overall, this was pretty solid. Even at our cabin in Golden we have a ton of bug pressure so I kind of cut this place some slack, the restaurant itself was otherwise clean but I understand this might bother other people too much. If you're looking to switch up your brunch rotation I would at least consider this place.

I completely understand that nothing is cheap in British Columbia or especially in Golden but it was still a bit of a letdown. We had a romantic getaway to Golden and I found this restaurant online. People raved about it so I decided to give it a try. We ordered their most popular Lamb Meatball pasta and a Bison entree. Honestly, I don't know what to say. The food was cold and flavourless. The only redeeming factor was the location and the view. Later, I met someone who lives locally in Golden and they told me this restaurant offers the best value for money compared to others in the area. Well...

Others at the table had pasta. We were all satisfied with the entrees. Now, anyone who knows me knows I am all about the dessert. Banana lava cake. Sounded interesting. Big disappointment. The cake had just been taken out of the freezer; parts of it were cold. There was no lava whatsoever anywhere. That a still partially frozen dessert (that's supposed to be at least warm) would be served is enough for me to not go back. In addition, the cake was dry and not flavorful. Will try somewhere else next time we're in Golden.

Was hoping to get there early enough for their early dinner special which looks like a fantastic deal but forgot Golden is on MST so our arrival was actually an hour later than we thought. Got the sirloin steak with seasonal veggies, mashed potatoes and garlic sauce. There was a sweetness to the sauce which I found interesting. The steak was cooked well and tender. Came across this restaurant and decided to give it a try and I'm so glad we did! Their first hour they have meal deals which were really worth it! The restaurant was really fancy looking much more than I expected. We ordered: 1. Pork Kim Chi Pot stickers: These were just okay. Kind of tasted like it was from a package and just boiled and headed up to serve and not as much hand made there. 2. The dragon plate over pasta: Holy crap this was SOOOO GOOD! The waitress was so amazing and recommended we get the dragon plate over something instead like pasta because it soaks up the sauce better and she was so right! The sauce was amazing I wish I had bread to soak it up. There was so much seafood and it was so fresh. The quality of the seafood was also amazing. 3. House daily pasta with chicken: Super good and perfectly good chicken. The sauce was also amazing with this. My wife ordered this so she ate most of it but I liked it a lot. 4. Cookies and cream cheese cake: Exactly as you'd expect it to taste. Rich cheesecake and nice crunches from the oreo. Overall, we had such a great experience here. It was easily the best thing we ate on our banff trip. The waitress was sooooo nice and gave us such excellent recommendations. We were so lucky to have randomly come across this place on Yelp and that they opened right when we got there. This is a must try restaurant.
