Upon finding Foodie Delights, I took a chance and it worked! The chef offered a beautiful menu to prepare and guaranteed quality service and food. When they arrived, the main dishes, baked chicken and roasted potatoes were piping hot, the rustic salad was fresh, (the green tomatoes were fresh from the garden), and the homemade balsamic dressing was a hit with the guests. There was more than enough food. The appetizer tray displayed an assortment of cheese and fruit, and garnished with bread to dip with the homemade balsamic dressing. My first interaction with the owner, Joanne, was wonderful. She was incredibly helpful in not only deciding on the wedding menu, but in matching colors, suggesting decor, and offering advice for planning as she was aware that I was planning my own wedding and had no idea what I was doing! She helped me afford the full-service buffet catering by working out pricing that worked well for my budget and worked out ALL the buffet options I wanted! I was super excited and incredibly happy with the menu! It hit all food options, meats, seafood, vegetarian. We scheduled a tasting during our meeting with the venue representative and Joanne provided all the needed documentation for catering. The tasting was all of the entrees/sides that we put on the menu, AND additional tastings of other options and iced tea that I wanted. Since we didn't really have "tasting" time at the venue, she packed it up into take-out boxes and let us take so much food home! It was as if we went to a restaurant and got take-out food for dinner! I hired Bennett Caterers for my wedding ceremony/reception, all located in the same lodge. Set-up time was scheduled from 12:00-2:00pm, with the ceremony supposed to begin at 2:00pm. They were already at the location when we arrived for set-up and setting up table linens. In that time frame, I threw the decor onto the tables and ran off to get ready for my wedding. By the time I came back up for the ceremony, all of the tables were beautifully covered with the plates and silverware. Everything was set-up and the buffet was warm and ready on the side. During dinner, the food was very good and everyone seemed satisfied. With my nervousness, I kind of forgot to eat during my entire wedding, but at least the guests enjoyed it! The bar was also great! The waiters were incredibly respectful and Joanne's team was great. If there was anything I could have changed, I probably would have pushed a couple of late night (after party) snacks that could have gone around during the dancing, as I didn't get the try any appetizers during cocktail hour, since I was off taking photos. :( To any brides that plan their own wedding, you SHOULD have breakfast, because I thought I'd get to try some of the food and I didn't... :(( But I'm so happy the guests enjoyed it all! Just a side note -- I didn't quite know this was universal for caterers, but to avoid liability issues, they cannot leave you leftovers (especially since the food sits out for a long time), so don't be surprised if you don't get to keep everything that you saw after dinner. As guests arrived, we were all treated with a specialty cocktail and delightful appetizers. And then dinner. Wow!! Maybe the best ribeye steak ever. Wonderfully seasoned and incredibly tender. The sides were all great but that steak - oh, my lord. Dessert was a matcha tiramisu and it was the perfect finish! Throughout the night, the service was so smooth and then, before we knew it, the kitchen was cleaner than when they arrived and they were off. We sought a personal chef to create a birthday feast in our home for 12 foodie friends (14 total guests) to be served with wines from our collection to be paired with his dishes. When we first looked into hiring a chef, we were a bit shocked to learn how different the prices for home catering are compared to what one might pay to eat an excellent meal in a nice restaurant. However, after further analysis of the catering competition and their (lower end) products relative to value, we quickly realized that chef Eric was the one to deliver the unique high end event we desired at a fair price. We also appreciated that chef Eric only books one client event per day, which means that he can apply total focus to each event. During the planning stage, we simply gave chef Eric a list of some of the specific ingredients that we wanted, and he created a sumptuous menu incorporating those ingredients while deftly balancing flavor profiles to pair with wines. After a few minor tweaks to the menu, we arranged a smaller "trial tasting dinner" in our home in order to get to know chef Eric better, to see him cook, and to sample a few of the dishes he proposed. Words cannot express how "blown away" we were with chef Eric's dishes. His preparations exceeded all our expectations. Changa's rate is reasonable, and she shows up with a car full of bartending supplies, everything from mixers to folding table. Her basic package goes for $275 for three hours, and that includes an hour-long consultation, a signature cocktail, juices and sodas, cordials and liqueurs, homemade infusions and purées, garnishes, napkins, bar supplies, ice, coolers, etc. etc. She saves you a lot of headache and a long, involved shopping, and then makes your party run. She's skilled and professional. She makes a ginger margarita that is truly delicious. I was staying with Ava the night of that second party, so I was around for the wrap-up, and we ended up talking with Changa and another guest for a while at the end of the night. I know I'm Yelping her business, but it's worth noting that Changa herself is a very warm, thoughtful, intelligent person, someone you'd totally want at your party. They were super accommodating and attentive to any concerns I had as a bride. Our account manager Marcie was wonderful, taking detailed notes on everything (we communicated with her up until 2 weeks out from the date) and responding to my million and one questions, with a quick response time via email or call. Since we did a grand arrival by private charter, they even let us do a dry run ahead to practice docking and were super patient in waiting for us. 2 weeks out we were assigned our catering manager for the day of- Veronica is the best!! Responsive to texts and emails at any time of day (and unlike most venues where the catering manager is only concerned with ensuring the venue fulfills their contractual obligations), she and her staff showed up, worked with our day of coordinator, and played a huge role in ensuring the day went as flawlessly as it did! The day of, Veronica arrived at the venue early in case any of the production crew arrived early. She checked on us throughout the night, and you could tell she genuinely was excited for us and loves what she does! They truly went above and beyond. Couldn't have asked for a better team. Still haven't been offered a soft drink, guess I'll have to get that myself. The silk napkin, though fancy keeps falling off our laps. The venue, is impressive with the view of the bay but alas the parking is ridiculous as in you have to stack and pack the cars, so that will be fun when everyone leaves. Wedding cake was okay. Overall could have earned a 3 to 4 except for the lack of adaptability.
