As our first stop in Norway, this was a very cool bar in Lillehammer that served some interesting local Norwegian food. The area surrounding the bar is actually very beautiful and a nice place to take a stroll and the bar itself is cozy and well suited to seat parties of multiple sizes. Food-wise the prices were pretty decent (from an American perspective). I ended up trying the moose burger and it was well worth a try. The actual meat is slightly gamey--not as satisfying as a beef patty, but the mix of the cranberry jam (or some sort of berry jam?) they put on the burger actually mixed very well with the overall dish. Quick and dirty lunch place. Food came rather quick out of the kitchen. Great taste but my chicken was a bit under cooked.

From what I learned there's only a couple of places in Lillehammer to find traditional Norwegian food. This place seemed fairly popular with both locals and tourists alike. Just so you know, Nikkers runs two businesses. One is a regular type restaurant, and directly next to it is a sports bar type establishment. I dined at the restaurant. Actually I sat in the rear of the restaurant on a terrific outdoor deck. The deck overlooked a small stream and some nice greenery. It was a pleasant surprise because I didn't expect it from looking at the front facade. My guess is you can only sit out there during the warmer summer months. The food was excellent. I tried the game stew which included chunks of reindeer meat in a thick gravy sauce. It was reasonably priced, hearty, and filled me for the entire day. Service was provided with a smile. I'll have to visit again the next time I'm in Lillehammer when touring with the FIS Skiing World Cup. Last year I placed 2nd in the Men's GIant Slalom. Yea, I wish.... in my dreams. read more

My wife and I stopped by after I saw the porch jutting out over the stream. What a wise choice. We shared a helping of the wild game stew and it turned out to be the best meal of our trip to Norway. And that is saying a lot as we had some fantastic food on our vacation. The stew was so good that we sopped up all the remaining sauce with bread and if there hadn't been other customers I would have licked my plate and the serving pot. read more

Nice place for lunch or a place to go for some fun and food/drinks in the evening. Live music is sometimes very good,other times not. Very centrally located and should be among restaurants visited when spending a night out on town. Also a great place to have a coffee while planning the day or week in Lillehammer as the patrons are mostly local and always more than happy to answer any questions you may have about what's worth and what's not worth spending your vacation-dollars (or rather kroner..) on. read more

As a forewarning: the one dollar sign is in comparison to Norway prices. You can expect to pay between 20 to 30 dollars per person unless you have children who get the $10+ plates. They have a nice ambience in the terrace area. While eating you have a nice view of a river running next to the resteraunt. In regards to the food, 3/5 of the menu is a burger in some form while the rest is either soup or salad really. The deer soup is pricy at 30 ish USD per person, but it'll definitely fill you up. It's not my cup of tea but it wasn't terrible. People who like gamey food should enjoy it. It comes with mashed potatoes and bread with lingonberry sauce. The Nikken burger was fairly good, and it's big enough to properly fill most everybody. Overall decent, but I can't help but think that a similar meal in the states will be 3/4 the price at least. Worth maybe splitting some dishes between people but not ordering a full meal for everybody. read more

Absolutely wonderful! My mother and I stopped by on our trip through Lillehammer after being unable to find a vegan restaurant for ourselves. The amazing employees were kind enough to whip us up some yummy veggie burgers and fries from scratch that were both well thought out and wholly delicious. Quality of the food is good but the portions aren't big at least if you've been skiing all day. The mussels we shared as a starter and we're very nice. The burgers are very good. The draft beer are good especially the IPA and "three old ladies". The "experience" of the switched-off(!) Primus burner is plain silly. Nice environment. Friendly staff. read more

Great dinner. We sat outside on the deck and had a couple of beers, and the Cod from the Grill and the Moules-Frites, both of which were fresh and delicious. Very happy with our decision to eat here. read more
