Lykkelige Dager (correctly translated to Happy Days) is open six days a week from 9am to 5pm and is a great place to stop by to pick up a healthy lunch or for a take out dinner. Everything is prepared fresh and from high quality ingredients. We highly recommend a visit. Parking can be difficult at times in downtown Lillehammer but there's a parking lot (metered as is everywhere in town) up the hill and behind the larger building.

The area surrounding the bar is actually very beautiful and a nice place to take a stroll and the bar itself is cozy and well suited to seat parties of multiple sizes. Food-wise the prices were pretty decent (from an American perspective). I ended up trying the moose burger and it was well worth a try. The actual meat is slightly gamey--not as satisfying as a beef patty, but the mix of the cranberry jam (or some sort of berry jam?) they put on the burger actually mixed very well with the overall dish. I tried a burger at 4 other places during my trip. Two in Oslo, one in Hamar, and two Lillehammer. Brooklyn Burger Joint was by far the best I had and is also better than most places stateside. I ordered the "menu", which is what they call a meal deal. Burger, fries, and a soda. My choice was the classic with cheese and bacon. The size was perfect and the flavor was outstanding. The fries tasted great and there were more than I could finish. The only thing I think could be a bit better is the ventilation, but that's a tough battle when you're slingin burgers.
