I usually come here for Christian greeting cards or to gift someone a Bible (they have an option to engrave in the store and gift wrap). Parking is easy and free in front of the store. The only suggestions I would make is to improve their coffee quality and sell baked goods so people can hang out and eat, open later hours in the evening and host events for the community. Customer service is nice and they gift wrap for a small fee which is convenient. If you're curious about a Christian author and don't want to buy the book online then you can check it out here first. That's what keeps shows such as this fresh. The show would have been much more enjoyable if the parents directly behind us had been gracious enough to remove their loud, talkative children to a section where they wouldn't have ruined the experience for me. Reanactors and historians talk about everyday life from the mid 1700s to the early 1900s. There are demonstrations on weaving, blacksmithing, candlestick making, and smokehouse cooking, on site. Things were just winding down for the day as we walked thru so we missed all of that, but did get a bit of history lesson in how the phrase: "good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite" came about as we went in one log home and listened to a docent tell the origins of this phrase. The general area and buildings seemed a bit run down. Overall a nice little detour, as we walked to the Horn of the West.

Apparently everyone else does the same thing, because this hotel is on what is apparently the main road traversing the region, and the traffic noise was terrible, which is not what I thought was going to happen in Boone NC. The room was functional and I had no difficulty getting late checkout. The internet was functional for telework and I even found work space outside my room when I had to check out. Breakfast is not included, but I had no difficulty finding quality options in the town. I wonder if the road noise would be less with a room facing away from the street, but I'm not sure if that would be the case. Maybe the surrounding mountains create a bowl that reflects all the sound back in. If I had some real quality method of reducing the noise, I'd have liked the hotel more.

From initial request describing our needs to arrival and duration of our stay, she handled everything with professionalism and stellar communication. The king suite with 2 bedrooms made the stay so much easier with the kids as we were able to put them in separate rooms. The room was clean, well-stocked, and even came with a little balcony. Just a heads up, half of the hotel faces the road and it can be a bit loud with the cars driving by (highly recommend bringing a pair of earplugs).

My Daughter loves it here. A great State school but with a small town feel. The population of Boon…read moreis actually smaller than the amount of students. But the town is building. It's situated in a mountain town that has plenty of shops, restaurants , breweries and a Mast General Store. The school is famous for its Photography and Arts programs and also is a great school for teaching programs. Newly added is the Nursing classes. It has a great football team with a nice stadium, a baseball team, and a great basketball arena. Tuition is very reasonable. Only bad thing? Very low amount of on site housing. There are a ton of overpriced apartments in Boone that are really scammers to the kids. Best bet if you can find one early, is to look for private rentals.

However, that 2 hour drive out of his way seemed not ideal so we looked for a driving service. Enter Richard of EZ Shuttle. We reached out the night before and he was available to take us to the airport which is a 2 hour drive. He was super prompt to get us at our cabin, had a clean car, offered us water and was such a delightful driver. He also gave us some history of the area which was nice. Our party of 5 made it safely to the airport for a reasonable price. Not only does he do airport transfers but he also can drive you in the area if you're looking to go to wineries or just get around the mountains without having to drive. Will totally be using his services again!
