The Courtyard by Marriott in Boone was my anchor after my day in Ashe County and the next day in Alleghany County. So I was not in the hotel much, as I was off exploring the region. Having read some reviews prior to my stay, I knew to ask for a room on the backside of the hotel because of Highway 105 traffic. Although I am not sure how bad that would have been. But the hotel did honor my request and put me on the top floor. So I did have a peaceful stay to rest up. The exercise room, pool and laundry room were clean. Behind the hotel were some trees and a retaining wall. The front desk staff was helpful, especially Chris, with helping me navigate the traffic in Boone. He even seemed interested in the NC Musicians Mural Trail. The hotel has one elevator, and it is slow, so be prepared to wait. There was a chair in the hallway to sit while waiting. They really need another one for the size of the hotel. The location wasn't the easiest to get in and out of either, and it seemed dangerous to make a left from the parking lot. As nice as the hotel and staff were, I'd likely stay elsewhere next time because of the location and the slow elevator. read more

I had driven through Boone several times without stopping to stay the night before I found a reason here. Apparently everyone else does the same thing, because this hotel is on what is apparently the main road traversing the region, and the traffic noise was terrible, which is not what I thought was going to happen in Boone NC. The room was functional and I had no difficulty getting late checkout. The internet was functional for telework and I even found work space outside my room when I had to check out. Breakfast is not included, but I had no difficulty finding quality options in the town. I wonder if the road noise would be less with a room facing away from the street, but I'm not sure if that would be the case. Maybe the surrounding mountains create a bowl that reflects all the sound back in. If I had some real quality method of reducing the noise, I'd have liked the hotel more. read more

We really enjoyed our stay in the heart of Boone. The hotel's conveniently located right smack dab in the middle of the city- making it a super short drive to just about anywhere. The customer service was excellent. I'm probably going to butcher the spelling, but Janine did a stellar job coordinating the accommodation for our stay. From initial request describing our needs to arrival and duration of our stay, she handled everything with professionalism and stellar communication. The king suite with 2 bedrooms made the stay so much easier with the kids as we were able to put them in separate rooms. The room was clean, well-stocked, and even came with a little balcony. Just a heads up, half of the hotel faces the road and it can be a bit loud with the cars driving by (highly recommend bringing a pair of earplugs). read more

Courtyard being one of Marriott's sister companies is not a place I would pick if coming to Boone one it's overpriced two no coffee in the lobby but a Starbucks if you want to pay the price three the Internet system stinks, you're supposed to get cinema Max, which is very hard to get a program to work the only reason we stayed is because we get a free night on our Marriott Bonvoy card when My Brother is staying at a local resort which has free breakfast ,free coffee, better amenities ,all around and at a cheaper price if I did not stay here for free, I would've paid to say the other hotel ,and been happier also, a bottle of water cost you four dollars they must mistake it's gold. i'm very disappointed with this courtyard by Marriott read more

This is a beautiful property located in Boone. If you plan to hike grandfather mountain or enjoy the surrounding area, this is the perfect spot. I was pretty shocked at how dirty this hotel is and how mean/unreasonable the staff are. I originally got the room for $160 for the night but the rate increased when I changed the day to $250. I tried changing my reservation inn the phone but the employee asked me to do it online. The day we got there the rate was cheaper $180 but the staff wouldn't adjust my rate. The manager said she didn't have power to change what they charged us which is a bold lie. The actual hotel room was also dirty. The shower had very bad mold and there was hair from the previous guest all over the shower. The bedroom was also very dark and the bedsheets were rough. I would not recommend this hotel. read more

Absolutely gorgeous Courtyard. The staff was so welcoming and professional. It is very easy to find as It's just off the main drag. There is a nice bistro with good food located in the lobby like most. There are also plenty of great little places close by to try. The room was spacious clean and comfortable. It is located very close to all the local attractions, grandfather Mountain, Blowing rock and App State. I will definitely stay here again. The views are gorgeous and when checking out they greeted me by name which is always a nice touch. I can't wait to be back in the area and enjoy the hospitality they have to offer. read more

This is a customer service review: My husband and daughter stayed here over the weekend so they could go tubing in the snow on Sugar Mountain. When they got home, my 5 year old couldn't find her "Sweetie Pie" aka stuffed animal that means the world to her . I called the hotel and spoke to Chelsea , who was so kind. She called lost and found while on the phone with me and they had four or missing animal. So I only gave 4 stars because the only way my daughter would see. Sweetie Pie again was i drove the 4+ hours to get her or provided a credit card for shipping. With having a background in hospitality and one working for a Marriott property, I was surprised that try didn't offer to ship it free of charge. I did ask them to include a note to my daughter from her "Sweetie Pie" explaining how sad she was and to not forget her again. They did agree to do that. read more

While passing through Boone, North Carolina, we stayed at the Courtyard Marriott. I must say this is one of the nicest hotels we've stayed at in quite a while. Right off the bat, the service was wonderful. She offered us a map of the town and made sure we had everything we needed before heading to our room. The amenities in the lobby included snacks for purchase, a Starbucks, Hertz car rental station, and quick print station. There was also a large fitness center and indoor pool. The room felt enormous due to the high ceilings and layout. The bathroom was in perfect condition with a shower that reached that perfect temperature. We stored our leftover food in the mini fridge. The pillows and mattresses were very comfortable. The large windows had the option of shear or blackout curtains (just in case you want natural light to filter in or complete darkness). The television was equipped for streaming, so all we had to do was login to Netflix and continue where we left off with our television shows. The hotel was conveniently located just a few minutes from downtown and some fantastic restaurants & breweries. We will definitely be staying here again and highly recommend it to anyone planning a stay in Boone! read more

I stayed in the Courtyard Marriott this past weekend and had a great experience. The hotel was very nice and the rooms were clean. However, my favorite part of staying at the Courtyard Marriott, was the outstanding customer service my family and I received from Jillian, the front desk staff member. She was very outgoing, friendly and professional, from the time we checked-in to the hotel, to the time we checked-out. She helped us with everything from a smooth check-in process, to directions to near by attractions, to buying late night snacks in the hotel lobby. It's people like Jillian that deliver exceptional customer service, that will keep customers like myself, returning again and again. I had a wonderful experience and will absolutely stay at this Courtyard Marriott again in the future. read more

Solid hotel with clean and comfortable rooms. They have a nice outdoor area with a fire out on the patio. Nice lounge area in the lobby that also serves as their restaurant. The staff is warm and friendly and they make checking in and out a breeze. The only thing I'd say they need to do is have safes in the room. The good - Nice front desk staff and people at their cafe for breakfast. Hotel is recently renovated and in good shape. Double queen rooms are good sized. Boone and the surrounding areas are worth a visit or many. The bad - 1. Low water flow on all sinks - oddly so. 2. Awoken at 1am with loud music blasting through our bathroom vent coming from room below us. 3. Was told had a credit for food/drinks and it was never applied. Called to see why the credit wasn't applied same day after I checked out and was put on hold, then told I needed to speak with assistant manager who was not there. Left voicemail. 4 days later and no call back to explain what happened or perhaps provide a credit. 4. No real additional perks / amenities if you are platinum with Marriott. read more

This place needs help. The rooms were not ready until 4 pm. They mislead about breakfast ( breakfast is served until) with no mention of the cost ($28). There are no AARP or AAA discounts. 1 elevator for 122 rooms, and it is slow as molasses. I would not stay here again unless it was the last choice. Oh yeah it is the only choice.. Spent two nights July/2012 on a post-holiday weekend. Although the hotel was busy the staff was very attentive. The hotel is definitely new, looks great from the outside and inside. Staff is super friendly and responsive. Indoor pool is a bit small, but does have a comfortable lobby with appropriately priced bistro options. The food is quite good as well, worth the money for a quick bite to eat as you head out to take on the day. Location is excellent as well, located about a mile-ish (you can walk it if you need to, nothing crazy) from ASU and downtown Boone. The hotel is also right off of 321 so it has easy access to Blowing Rock, The Blue Ridge Parkway, and other points of interest. Also, for those of you who may not be familiar with the Boone area it is located right on 105, which has a ton of family-friendly attractions and dining, such as mini-golf (aka Putt-Putt) and guide companies that can get you rafting, tubing, kayaking in no time. So the only reasons this place gets 4/5 instead of 5/5. There were minor things, like a couple of beer bottles/cans that housekeeping missed on the balcony (some rooms have balconies, a great feature!), and feather pillows even though I originally request feather-free due to allergies (to be fair I did switch my reservations around at the last minute which could easily account for the mix up, but really no big deal). The only thing that could seriously be improved on (or wasn't properly planned out) is the elevator. It is slow as molasses in December, and it is solo, as in there is only one. Solution - climb the stairs, there are only 4 floors, so burn a few calories. We'll be back! read more

This is THE NICEST hotel in the area. It was located within 5 minutes driving distance to about 10 really good restaurants and a 20-40 minute drive to skiing, tubing, hiking, wineries, etc. The hotel was super clean and has a mini Starbucks and bar. The only downside was the cafe. Menu looked good but it's limited and not kid friendly. We had to go out for breakfast each day. For example the only options for pancakes were lemon ricotta. Good for adults I guess. There's not much hang out space in the lobby but that was fine since we were cool staying in the room. Bar was good! Also, the TV has Netflix which made it easy to find stuff to watch. Good shower too! read more

Wifey and I were able to get the kids away for a weekend. This is the place we were able to book last minute. It is new, it is nice, but the young man who helped us is what will bring me back. Cory (sp?) was working the front desk, checked us in, got me a crib and extra blankets and pillows. Top notch young man. Everyone who worked there was helpful and the room was very nice and comfortable.... Except the mattress and pillows. This is the only reason I couldn't give five stars. For the price we paid, I felt the mattress, pillows, and linens could have been a slightly higher quality. To each his own as my wife says she didn't have much problem. I would be willing to stay here again in the future and I would recommend this hotel. Now one more thing I want to add, there was some wind while we were in our rooms. It wasn't that noticeable but I sure wouldn't think for a minute that a hotel concierge could do a darn thing to stop it. Nor would I expect them to. SMH read more

Terrible cleaning policies. Bathrooms are NOT cleaned daily on a multiple day visit. And in my case to toilet was not cleaned from previous guest, maybe many of them. There was a nasty brown stain all the way around the inside lip of the toilet. The housecleaner protested that this was a water stain. It was not. I was able to remove a sample of the stain with a simple wipe of the area. It was a former guest's poop. This was not subtitle. It was an inch stain most of the way around the inside lip of the toilet. read more

I am a gold member of Marriott and all my travels I do with them. But I must say that when I got to this location I find that this specific hotel is rude, not friendly and above all non trusted. I paid top dollars to stay here and what I booked and what I got was not as promised ...the stuff especially Nicole is so rude, not professional and I think who put her there is probably unprofessional as well. My advise is not to book with them and go other hotels there are plenty in Boone and they are way better. read more

Nice hotel look fairly new the rooms are odeon and spacious, the front desk was helpful at check in and throughout asking for recommendations for dinner. The lounge was a bit interesting, the chef was serving drinks as earlier the bar tender had quit, incidentally we found out that was the fourth bartender to quit in 2 weeks... Curious. The bar itself is only 4 seats but comfortable. The amenities like gym and pool all looked nice though I didn't use them. They brought us two cribs for the kids in a flash though left us to figure out setting them up. Parking was easy and directions here are easy. A nice place to stay. read more

Normally don't mind staying at a Courtyard Marriott, but this one leaves something to be desired for the cost. It's typical in that the rooms are decent and clean, but we had an issue with the room next door allowing their children to scream and squeal (as they talked and laughed loudly) up to 1:30AM!! They also kept hitting and turning the handle on the metal door that separates the rooms. My husband went downstairs to see if he could let someone know we were unable to sleep due to rude guests, but there was not a soul to be found. It's amazing how people don't think of anyone but themselves. The staff here is very young people and they were friendly enough, but certainly didn't go out of their way to be nice. We won't be staying here on out next visit to Boone! read more

Gorgeous new hotel. Full bar, Starbucks and mini restaurant inside. Wife and I both had breakfast BLT's - delicious! Clean rooms and bathrooms, comfortable beds. Nice outdoor seating area, though the view is if the terraced retaining walls. Great lounge area inside with large flat screen. Good water pressure at the shower, AC/heat system worked perfect - and yes we had to use both during our one night stay. It is Boone, NC after all, the weather can change real quick!! read more

Came in a second night in a row to the bar to have a beer and knock out some work. The bartender the night before was amazing. Super sweet and helpful. Tonight though was a disaster. The male bartender never asked for last call and shut the bar down over an hour early. When I came in and sat down he never even acknowledge me being here and I was sitting there for over 20 minutes, nor did he offer the wifi password when I had my laptop out. He was even counting he dirty money on the counter where customers eat in front of us. Such bad service. Such a disappointment. read more

BISTRO NEEDS HELP - Over the past 15 months I have noticed that employee morale behind the bar seems to be in the dark. There is not much value for the dollar and after many visits to the starbucks I have seen how poorly trained some of the employees are. Many looking uninterested in guests and managers seemingly to busy to care. The only good thing I could say was the Derrin and Michael seemed to care a lot about making drinks and meals for me and other guests. A hotel chain as large as Courtyard Marriot should have a company mission and values that encourage proper employee training and retention. read more

I'm a Platinum member with a corporate rate who spends over 80 nights per year in Marriott properties. This is my first rating and disappointed I have to give this property one star. In town with my wife to take a customer and his wife to ASU football game. When I checked in I was asked for my corp ID. As I was grabbing my id the front desk attendant asked in a polite tone why I was in town. When I said to attend the football game she immediately said she could not offer the rate for personal business. Setting me up with the tone. When I told her I had a customer appointment the response was met with skepticism and pushback. Stood my ground as she copied my Corp ID. Finally offered the agreed upon corporate rate. My wife drove her vehicle since I had additional customer calls the following day. When I asked for a second parking pass was told only one pass per room. The hotel doesn't have enough parking to support their guests! I was the told I could park my second vehicle in the bank parking lot a few blocks away but would need to retrieve it by 6AM. "We haven't had anyone towed there so far". My wife and I couldn't believe the low level of customer service. Bottom line is there are other customer friendly hotels in Boone. Stay at one of those. read more
