I see no reason for the lower ratings. This isn't the Ritz in New York but a simple fast food restaurant. The food is very good, hot and delicious served in a timely manner. Friendly owners. Plenty of free parking in a strip mall. read more

I eat here 2-3x/month. Great food. Great prices. I have tried other Nico's. The others taste like what you get out of your freezer. They go in the trash. Today I tried the carnitas. Tender, beautiful char flavor topped with a fresh fabulous serving of fresh onion and my favorite, cilantro. The verde salsa tops it perfectly! The best!! Try it! read more

We like the shredded beef tacos. We haven't tried anything else. Maybw the cheese enchalates would be next.

The service here was incredible, food was amazing and has been every visit. Would highly recommend.

The GOATS, great owners and super fast food with amazing quality and taste. 10/10 would recommend 100 times over.

Stopped in for a bean and cheese burrito. It was good, not great. It was a little stingy for being over $5, however the tortilla was really good. They had a serve yourself salsa area with green or red salsa. The red salsa was more like spicy red water, the green was decent. If you have a big appetite, the burrito alone isn't going to cut it. The couple working was friendly and the inside was clean. read more

Nico's is a local family operated Mexican restaurant that has surprisingly really tasty food. They're nachos supreme are delicious and filling. You should really try their bean and cheese wet burrito. They don't use lard and it is really delicious. It is definitely a local go to Place. read more

I was visiting and saw Nico's was still there. I had gone there the other day and I had a Carne Asada with pico and it was good but a little greasy. I went back today and asked for two bean, cheese with carne asada burritos and there were literally maybe 10 super tiny pieces of meat inside. I also had a Carne Asada quesadilla, over priced at $39. Super disappointed since same two people working on both visits. read more

Nothing great. Nothing terrible. I ordered the steak, egg, and cheese burrito. Tortilla was a little dry which threw me off. Overall burrito was average at best. Nothing to complain about for the price. But not dying to come back. read more

They have the best breakfast burritos in town! We love their food options for dinner too. Friendly staff!

They have some of the best carne asada fries in the area. The reception can seem a little cold at times, but I keep going back. Carne asada tacos are great too. The rolled tacos used to be better. Economy has them cutting back a little, I assume. read more

Stopped by for my fav fish tacos for lunch, got 3 of them... They aren't the same! Fish is a frozen fish tender that's not crispy at all (just like the ones you get at super market frozen section). Tortilla is corn instead of soft wheat and HARD edges... less cabbage....OWNERS please bring back the old receipt that tastes just like tacos in Cabo San Lucas! read more

If you are looking for affordable Mexican take-out, Nico's hits the spot. Nico's is not "fast food", like Taco Bell or whatever. The food here is well prepared, traditionally formulated, but still priced about the same as the typical drive-through. I ordered a Machaca breakfast burro. And I mean 'burro' instead of 'burrito' because at $7, it was as big as my arm. The Machaca was flavorful, juicy but not greasy and well balanced with tomatoes, onions and crisp peppers. The egg added richness and texture to the flavors as well. And the tortilla was very good, thin, with light char and an independent flour flavor. The red salsa that came with it was thin, vinegar-based, and had a strong habanero heat. Very good. In a town full of amazing Mexican food, it's important to remember there is supposed to be a difference between a take-out place like Nico's and the many fine dine-in restaurants around town. Again, this meal cost $7. And was served in 5 minutes. Was it as good as El Charro Carne Seca? No, of course not. But at less than half the price and a fraction of the time, it was definitely worth it. Yum. read more

Stopped here today, ordered chicken enchiladas to go. Ready in quick time, ate them when I got home. Absolutely delicious with perfect red sauce and lettuce. I will definitely be going a few miles out of my way to go back and get some more soon! Highly recommended! read more

We stopped in for a meal while beating a rainstorm. The staff was friendly and prompt. Our food was hot, fresh, and made very quickly. The restaurant and bathroom were very clean and well stocked. Our carnitas burrito, california burrito and bean burrito were delicious, the salsas as well. We will definitely eat here again. Thank you for a great experience! read more

Convenient spot with pretty good hours, closing at 9pm. No ambiance to really eat in the small seating area, but if you're jonesing some solid Mexican to go, this Nico's location will take care of you! read more

Fresh tortillas! Only get there bean and cheese and breakfast burritos. My favorite !!!!

This used to be one of my favorite fast food Mexican restaurant (see my previous review from 2 yrs ago). However in the last 6 months the quality of their food has decreased sufficiently. I have gotten take out several times in the last few months and the carnitas tacos now hardly have any onions, tomatoes or cilantro and are much smaller and less appealing than they used to be. I won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

Just check to see you got what you ordered before leaving with take out. Just paid for a lunch that was not what I asked for and was not good. Usually not that way. Wasted $25! read more

A little dirty on the inside. There was a rag just hanging out by the self serve salsa bar. But the food is consistently decent.

I had the sausage and egg breakfast burrito, with both the red and green salsa. A very large burrito, cooked very well, and green salsa is hotter then the red, I prefer the green. I recommend this place for a quick breakfast or lunch, good service as well. read more

Wow. I thought it was going to better from the reviews... My carne asada meat had SO much WATER (not grease) and was SO soggy that I couldn't even pick up the shell...the first bite it fell apart. It honestly didn't even taste like a real carne asada street taco...sort of a 'made in a box and microwave' bland taste. The nachos were plain (chips with unmelted shredded cheese.) The best thing was the Horchata (although I've had better.) Ok place for a quick $2.50 taco....but I'd never crave this place. Meh. I won't be back. read more

They gave me the wrong order. I waited for my food for about 15 minutes and when I finally got it and took it home I realized they gave me the burrito for the guy that ordered behind me..... I ordered a chorizo with egg and potatoes but they gave me an egg and sausage burrito :/ It's just annoying because I had to pay extra to have my order modified and it still wasn't right lol read more

Ordered carne asada burrito, didn't even taste like carne asada. Meat was soggy and bland flavor. I don't recommend coming here or even trying it, i live in phoenix and was driving by after completing a job down the street and that was a horrible decision, i wish i read the yelp reviews beforehand and not wasting my money here made me feel sick to my stomach. Paid over $10 for a burrito and a drink. read more

Fast mexican food. Of the many quick in and outs Nico's gets it done. Not the greatest customer service as the guy at the counter always looks like he is upset that people come in but ok none the less. The breakfast buritos are always on point, then again how does one mess up eggs and bacon in a tortilla. They do have one of the best Pollo Asada burritos of the fast food places, and the Machca plate makes a full two burritos and is very flavorful. Overall for a quick in and out, Nico's is a solid B+. So, I haven't been to this location for 1 year, today I decided to give them another try. Bad decision, I ordered 2 been and cheese burritos and 1 carne Asada burrito. My daughter was halfway through her burrito and bit into a piece of hard plastic, as for my burrito almost done I found a hair. The carne asada burrito was not even beef, it was pork!!!! So Nico's on La Canada, I will never eat at any Nico's again. read more

I went back to Nico's for a second try and I must say that I was pleased by the improvement. My husband had the Green Chile with Tortillas and the sauce was phenomenal- my only complaint is that this is a pork only dish because I think they slow cook the sauce with the pork at the same time. I had the Chicken Tacos and they were tasty with a good heat and flavor to them. One consideration the menu does not describe the items in question so you will have to ask if you have any dietary restrictions. read more

Do yourself a favor and do not eat at this dump. Seriously taco bell will give you better tacos than this. I really wanted to have an open mind about this place. It's a minute from my house. And I love tacos! The first experience I had, the guy behind the counter that ran the register was rude and gruff exactly like how a previous yelper described him. But I thought you know what I'm taking my tacos to go and I'm still gonna be OK. Big mistake. The tacos were awful. It was soggy, they didn't do it right no flavor. The second time I gave them an opportunity, I ordered sonething different and thought I requested the right thing. Yet ended up with soggy tacos yey again. Yet again I paid twice as much for soggy shitty tacos. Do yourself a favor and if you find Yourself hungry. Go two doors down and hit up the pizza place 2 doors down. Do not eat there. You will regret it! And you will still be unsatisfied and short $15 for awful food read more

I have been to several Nico's around Tucson and this one is not there best representation of what they can do. The guy who works the counter in the evenings is gruff/unfriendly, which I find ironic when you have to have public interactions. One would think you would want to put your best foot forward in that area. Food is just ok at best. Been to this place more than once and I am likely not going to repeat it. Yelp on! read more

decent burritos. i like the style... long and narrow. losing a point for not adding jalapeños inside the burrito, and another point for not grilling the burrito for a couple of minutes after it's made. read more

Although I am a fan of Nico's fast, friendly, reliable and delicious fare in general (the Campbell and Ft. Lowell location being a major exception), I dedicate this review, and all of these stars, to Nico's All-Star #1 breakfast burrito, especially as prepared at this location. When I lived in San Diego, this was the last Nico's on my way up to Tangerine and out of town, and the scene of many Last Meals in Tucson. Why is it so good? An ode, or a breakdown: 1. They scramble the heck out of the eggs without compromising moisture and flavor. The result? The eggs are everywhere and nowhere, all at once. Clinging to the bacon, dancing with the cheese, never stealing the show, but without which this burro could not go on. These are the Phillip Seymour Hoffman of breakfast burrito eggs. 2. Bacon. Real, crisp, diced bacon. Delicious, salty, crunchy bacon. Never spongy, fatty, gooey, lardy, or eraser-tough. It's like egg, cheese, and potato distributed bacon confetti instead of rice at the end of their plural marriage ceremony and are now heading for the limo, sprinkled with jubilant bits of porky goodness and ready to party. 3. Cheese. I'm not sure this is actually cheese. It's too yellow, too oily, somewhat flavorless, but an excellent conductor of the myriad salty/fatty flavors happening here. 4. Potatoes. Right on every time. Hot, tender, comforting, bite-size blocks of starchy deliciousness. Well-seasoned, they break up the richness of the burrito and impart a wonderful texture, and they're NOT FRENCH FRIES (I'm giving you the stink eye, creepy-tiki Campbell and Blacklidge location. How dare you incorporate limp, under-cooked FRIES into your burrito. How dare you). This is my favorite breakfast burrito in Tucson, and the folks that work here are great. The guy on the always grill recognizes my husband from the late nineties. Conveniently located in a very-earth toned strip mall across from Oro Valley Public Library, this Nico's is usually pretty quiet and seemingly clean in that overwhelming odor of antiseptic kind of way. Also recommend three rolled tacos with cheese; beans cheese rice & sour cream burrito. read more

Always courteous and fast even when they're busy. I love the breakfast burritos and the cheese enchilada combo so much that I haven't tried anything else yet. I wouldn't eat inside as it doesn't have much of dining area but there are tables outside that would be OK when it's not too hot. I need to try some of their other menu items. Maybe I'll add a 5th star then. read more

It's Nico's. If you're not from the area, this is a typical delicious mexican fast food chain that can be found all over the area. If you're looking for fast, tasty mexican food that is miles better than Taco Bell, then give Nico's a try. It's the closest one to most of Oro Valley. read more

There are plenty of Mexican eateries out there, but this is my favorite. Okay, maybe not my 1 and only, but I would eat here 1 meal a day if I could (but I can't, because what I order and add to my food is horribly unhealthy...) Last year, I would grab 1 of their MASSIVE breakfast burritos every couple of months on my way to work, and those days were definitely my most memorable days working at that office job. For starters, I remember the amazing flavors that these days brought me. Egg, steak, chorizo, cheese, bacon, potato, salsa, bea... wait... let me stop right there. Salsa. Yes, the ultimate burrito, taco and pretty much anything else condiment. I LOVE salsa. I love Taco Bell sauce packets, I love Tapatío and I love Nico's green & red salsa cups. Do I love them too much? Yes. Yes I do, because what I remember most about these days at work when I would pick up a massive breakfast burrito was the burning lunch hour... It's not Nico's fault, trust me. Their food is amazing, and their salsa, well... I am proud to say it's still my favorite. However, please, when you decide to add 12+ cups of their delectable devil spit to your meal, think twice. think 2 times. 2 times... number 2..... the "flavor" is alot less enjoyable coming out than when it went it. With all that said, my only regret is that I moved from Tucson. Otherwise you know where I would be! (at Nico's, not the bathroom you freak.) read more

This is hands down the best Nico's in the valley " Campbell and Blacklidge" a close second. The location is small but clean. The offerings are fresh and plentiful as well as HOT " Temprature wise". Its a burrito shop so I wont go in depth on all the menu items but they are tasty and made with care. But I will say the California burrito is my fave.
